St Kilda siblings youngest entrants in Linden Postcard Show

ST KILDA siblings Freya and Xavier Bolger have put their artistic flair on show as the youngest entrants to this year’s Linden Postcard Show.

Freya and Xavier, at just 11 and nine years old respectively, weren’t even born when the St KJilda show first began 27 years ago, but that hasn’t stopped the talented pair from displaying their works, along with more than 800 others.

The much-loved show, hosted by Linden New Art, sees hundreds of small-format artworks — amateur and professional — adorn the gallery walls.

The exhibition is open to people of all ages and abilities, all vying for a portion of the $10,000 prize at the Acland St gallery.

Every piece is postcard size (8x10 inches) and available for purchase from the gallery.

The exhibition is open now, and will run until January.

Kate Golding was crowned this year’s major winner, snaring $5000 for her “Unlearning Cook, Part One” postcard.

Sir John Everett Millais’ famous painting of Hamlet’s Ophelia, reimagined by Sam Deakins with Dame Edna Everage in the starring role picked up the Avant Card Postcard Award and $1500 cash.
