Portside Messenger
Messenger’s origins are in Port Adelaide. Portside was first published in 1951, printed in a timber frame house on what is now known as Baynes Place, named after our founder, Roger Baynes.
The Portside area covers the entire Le Fevre Peninsula, taking in Adelaide’s northern beach suburbs. This is a compact area of contrasts; a mix of industry and beachside luxury, blue collar and professional, heritage and waterfront development.

Portside Messenger
The historical centre is Port Adelaide. ‘The Port’ has its own geo-cultural identity, with a community spirit galvanised and embodied by the nationally famous Port Adelaide Football Club. Its working class origins are still reflected in the small corrugated iron cottages in surrounding suburbs.
West Lakes is reclaimed swamp from the Port River, developed and transformed into a mix of prestigious lake front housing and more affordable streets, incorporating AAMI Stadium and the Westfield West Lakes Shopping Centre. Semaphore provides affordable beach living with country town feel, and North Haven’s central feature is the marina.
Portside understands what makes ‘The Port’ tick and brings together local content for this unique and much loved part of Adelaide.
