    No analogy with UCC. A Muslim woman cannot choose out of UCC. Islamic Banking is not being made mandatory for Muslims.

    if any banking system is adopted, it shld not have any religious overtone.On one hand we are advocating UCC.

    Islamic Bank will run on the money of Investors and Depositors who make the fully informed choice, not on Public money.

    but TCS doesn't run on funds deposited by people and two wrongs don't make a right.

    No proposal for Govt to run an Islamic Bank. We will oppose it when it happens. For now, make up something better.

    Dude, there cannot be any Govt Islamic bank in a secular state which we aren't. And of course, it would open floodgates for money from MEast

    Even today many investors dont invest in what they consider unethical businesses. What's wrong if Islamic Banks dont invest in a Daru co.?

    Islamic lending will be subject to religious restrictions.. only halal businesses.. how do you deal with that ?

    That's already happening. Key issue in the Tata-Mistry fight is profit of TCS being ploughed in other unsustainable businesses

    slippery slope. Soon, profit from other products will be used to cross subsidize Islamic banking products.
