For almost 160 years, the Mercury has been at the forefront of news, public debate and entertainment in Hobart.  As the Voice of Tasmania, the Mercury, through its seven day multi-platform operation, informs and challenges. It shares cheers and tears, stimulates discussion and action, records and presents major news events and is a vital part of the fabric of Tasmania.

We are extremely proud of our Saturday magazine, a 24-page lift-out which is inserted into the Mercury.  The Saturday magazine focuses on great Tasmanian stories and great Tasmanians – the innovative, the inspirational, the colourful, the quirky and the controversial.  It is about celebrating all that is good about our beautiful state.

The average person stays on our website for over eight minutes, with the main driver to the website being our local news coverage. We have a dedicated social media strategy including over 11,000 facebook fans and over 2,000 twitter followers. Our online video content and pictorial galleries are all important components on our website helping us to drive strong traffic levels. We also have a digital edition newspaper for those who have trouble accessing our printed product.
