Red Raider Nation is tucked all the way up in the northeast part of Oahu, but if any team wants a chip of the Koa wood trophy, their road will have to go through Kahuku. The Red Raiders got their eight state championship a year ago, but now can they get number nine and go back-to-back? Kalbi on Fire is a food truck in the small town of Kahuku, Hawaii that specializes in Korean food, and specifically kalbi - which are beef short ribs. On the menu you can also order a couple of other different grilled meats as well, but I had to stick with what they are most famous for. I also got a scoop of rice, some macaroni salad, and a side of kimchi. Like in all of Hawaii, Kalbi on Fire isn’t cheap. This meal was on the pricey side. The kalbi beef short ribs were a little on the sweet side, but they did taste extremely good and they were nice and tender - and along with the rice and macaroni salad, it was delicious. When you pass through Kahuku in Hawaii, there are plenty of good food options like Kahuku Superette (http://migrationology.com/2012/04/hawaiian-poke-bowl-kahuku-superet...

Hawaiian poke, and the poke bowl, is one of my favorite meals. Get details about Kahuku Superette here: http://migrationology.com/2012/04/hawaiian-poke-bowl-kahuku-superette/ There are lots of reasons to visit Hawaii, but the best reason in my opinion is to take advantage of the delicious food. You'll find all sorts of, especially Asian food, and a lot of local Hawaiian food as well. One of the ultimate things I love to eat in Hawaii is known as poke. Hawaiian poke is basically cubes of raw fish marinated in a variety of seasonings that usually includes soy sauce and sesame oil, among many different other ingredients depending on what you order. Normally as soon as possible, after landing in Honolulu, I go straight to the nearest restaurant to grab some fresh poke. It's like candy for me...
Romys Prawn and shrimp is located in Kahuku and is referenced as the first place to offer shrimp and prawns. There is always a line at this location and they only take cash. From about 10:30am to 3:00pm this place is packed and they do take some time getting the food out to you. The wait is worth it as the food is awesome. Be patient and know you will have to stand in line to get these shrimp or prawn. Everything here is great. Way back in December of 2014, we took a little trip to Hawaii with Action Bronson. Action was a guest of RVCA at their house on the North Shore to witness the Pipeline Masters surfing competition, and he curated a little barbecue for a group of surfers as well as played a show in Honolulu. In between all the rapping, grilling, and surfing, we made it to Kahuku Superette, the finest purveyor of poke on Oahu. It was a life-changing moment for Action, and its effects are still felt nine months later. With a slight lull in touring for Mr. Wonderful, Action decided to whip up some poke of his own, as well as a vegan version with golden beets that’s so good, everyone who eats it will want to proclaim you king for the day. We hope you find this video as entertaining and useful as our trip was f...
There are so many delicious foods to eat when you are in Hawaii. And one of the most famous things to eat when you drive around the north shore of the island, is at one of the many shrimp trucks. There are quite a few different trucks to choose from, and there's a huge debate as to which one is the best. But among the handful of different shrimp truck options, one of the most famous is Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. I have driven past this shrimp truck in Kahuku many times, but for some reason I have never stopped before to eat there. One reason is because, I would normally fill up on other plate lunches or Hawaiian poke from Kahuku Superette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIvn7n7cIeQ) before ever arriving at one of the famous shrimp trucks. But little did I know, there is now a second branch...

I setup the GoPro on the deck of our hotel room at Turtle Bay for this capture. Clouds tend to roll in at night so it wasn't as pretty as some others I've posted...but the view was incredible. We will miss Hawaii!
Kawela Bay, Oahu, Hawaii: https://lookintohawaii.com/hawaii/5267/kawela-bay-beach-park-beach-oahu-kahuku-hi We had a fun day at Kawela Bay playing with the kids, horseback riding, and climbing the famous banyan tree from the TV show Lost and The Pirates of the Caribbean. The highlight of our trip was snorkeling with a gorgeous green sea turtle. Kawela Bay is a beautiful, somewhat hidden beach on Oahu's North Shore near Kahuku.
Let's put our heads together to start a new country up
Our father's father's father tried, erased the parts he didn't like
Let's try to fill it in, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red
This is where we walked, this is where we swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red
And we gathered up our friends, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, underneath the river bed
This is where we walked, this is where we swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone
Let's put our heads together and start a new country up
Underneath the river bed we burned the river down
This is where they walked, swam, hunted, danced and sang
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone
Rewrite the book and rule the pages, saving face, secured in faith
Bury, burn the waste behind you
This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We are not your allies, we can not defend
This is where they walked, this is where they swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone
