Trump meets Obama at White House1:31

Donald Trump has arrived at the White House for talks with Barack Obama on the handover of power.

US President-elect Donald Trump’s first visit to the White House as America still reels with shock

AS protests continue across America, Donald Trump will give his first TV interview as President-elect to CBS, which will air in Australia.

His TV tell-all with 60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl will air next week on Network Ten.

It comes after a riot broke out in Portland, Oregon, where a protest against President-elect Donald Trump descended into violence.

Police faced vandalism and aggressive behaviour from protesters.

Heated arguments broke out at the scene and one video showed a fight after a woman throwing laundry detergent at protesters. Police said multiple people with bats were reported in the crowd and urged people not wanting to be associated with protesters to leave the area. The Portland protest was among many that occurred across the country for a second day.

Earlier today, Trump went to the White House to meet President Barack Obama.

Body language expert David Alssema thought Trump appeared fearful during his first visit.

“Trump had his hands in a low steeple position — his fingertips touching to make the shape of a church steeple, indicating a more downward prayer position. This may indicate a more fearful and humble approach. The steeple usually means high levels of confidence and superiority however as it is pointed downward it may also indicate uncertainty,” Mr Alssema said.
