Who will wear what guernsey number at your club in 2017

MELBOURNE has wasted no time in allocating guernsey numbers to its new players with star recruit Jordan Lewis to wear No.6 in 2017.

The Demons are the first club to announce numbers for new players ahead of the 2017 season.

The four-time premiership Hawk, who found his way to the Demons during the trade period, inherits the guernsey from delisted forward Chris Dawes.

Lewis previously wore No.3 at Hawthorn.

The midfielder’s new locker buddy Christian Petracca — who wears No.5 — was quick to welcome him by asking on Twitter the type of coffee he likes.

Fellow recruit Michael Hibberd has been handed the No.14 guernsey made vacant by the departure of defender Lynden Dunn.

Hibberd left Essendon following his 12-month ban and was traded to Melbourne for a second-round draft pick and will wear the guernsey made famous by dual Brownlow Medallist Ivor Warne-Smith and four-time premiership Demon Trevor Johnson.

Ex-Giant Pat McKenna has been given No.40, which was vacant at Melbourne in 2016.

Jake Melksham was handed the No.18 guernsey upon his arrival last year before being banned for 12 months.

Tough midfielder Aaron vandenBerg, meanwhile, has swapped his No.37 guernsey for the No.22 following the axing of Viv Michie.

Shane Woewodin won a Brownlow Medal wearing No.22 for the Demons.

Rookie signing Corey Maynard, the brother of Magpie Brayden, will wear No.48.

Maynard, a former Australian under-23 basketballer, signed with the Demons in August as a category B rookie.

Keep an eye out for more jumper number changes at your club throughout the off-season, which will be revealed here.
