Betrayed by allies. Beset by new foes. Earth faces its darkest hour since the Xaros invasion.
The Toth come to the solar system with a fleet of warships, and they demand the only tool that can rekindle the human race. It falls on Marine Lieutenant Hale to negotiate a pact that will save the human race at the cost of its soul - or start a war with a race of alien predators.

"satisfying installment in a great series"
A lot of my audible purchases are based on following narrators I like; Luke Daniels is one of my all time favorites. I've stumbled onto more than one new author this way and Richard Fox is the latest great find. His story telling is clean and well thought out, and his characters are engaging and relatable. I've enjoyed alternately cursing and cheering for Mark Ibara. Each novel has had a satisfying conclusion, but the murky background of increasingly complex alien politics and the steadily unfolding mystery of the Xaros' origin and purpose leaves the story plenty of room to grow. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Myself a geeky engineer. I like in the following order, 1 - SciFi, 2 - Fantasy, 3 - Thrillers, 4 - Mysteries. My most most memorable book was "Dune" by Frank Herbert. My most thought provoking book, "On A Pale Horse" by Peirce Anthony.
"Can't get enough"
I'm going through these books so fast, I need to purchase extra credits. I'm always asking what's going to happen next? How are they going to get out of this one? And chuckling at the things Standish says.
"what a twist to another great addition."
Yet again another great addition to this series. This book gives you more in site to the inside of Mark Yeboa
"Great series"
This has been a great series of books. Glad I found Richard Fox and his books.
"Awesome continuation"
Great character depth/complexity without getting stuck on inane minor details. Seriously, well done. I care about the fates of nearly every major character at this juncture.
The plot continues to draw me in. Good job of expanding the universe/world without falling victim to having 20 plotlines.
Luke Daniels shines as always. As with R.C. , he could narrate a cereal commercial and have a good chance of drawing me in. Paired with a great story like this.. Enough said.
"Another great story in the series"
The series seams to be one large story broken down into many books and this one will leave you wanting more.
"if anything, it's too short, I want more"
loved it, story is fun and entertaining, characters keep evolving and it adds to the series.
"Very good narration"
Luke Daniels is at narrating giving me any different voices of the characters really bring them alive. I am armor!
"Great series"
Even after the fourth book, I am still engaged in the story. The variety of characters and fantastic voice talent give nice color to a fast moving military science fiction book that sports both space and land battles.
I've been writing software for over twenty years. Most of the books in my collection are science fiction or computer related materials.
"Need book 5!"
This story just keeps getting better and better. Audible is, unfortunately, missing book five and I am hoping to see it soon!
"Twists and Turns"
Really enjoyed this, kept me thinking and intrigued. Very good story lines that dove tail in and out
