Fiji (i/ˈfiːdʒiː/ FEE-jee Fijian: Viti; Fiji Hindi: फ़िजी), officially the Republic of Fiji (Fijian: Matanitu Tugalala o Viti;Fiji Hindi: रिपब्लिक ऑफ फीजीFiji Hindi: Ripablik ăph Phījī), is an island country in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean about 1,100 nautical miles (2,000 km; 1,300 mi) northeast of New Zealand's North Island. Its closest neighbours are Vanuatu to the west, New Caledonia to the southwest, New Zealand's Kermadec Islands to the southeast, Tonga to the east, the Samoas and France's Wallis and Futuna to the northeast, and Tuvalu to the north.
Fiji is an archipelago of more than 332 islands, of which 110 are permanently inhabited, and more than 500 islets, amounting to a total land area of about 18,300 square kilometres (7,100 sq mi). The farthest island is Ono-i-Lau. The two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, account for 87% of the population of almost 860,000. The capital and largest city, Suva, is on Viti Levu. About three-quarters of Fijians live on Viti Levu's coasts, either in Suva or in smaller urban centres like Nadi (tourism) or Lautoka (sugar cane industry). Viti Levu's interior is sparsely inhabited due to its terrain.

To honor its cultural heritage, Fiji Airways has announced a new refreshed brand at a celebratory launch event at Los Angeles International Airport. American travelers will now see direct flights from Los Angeles to Fiji almost double by the end of the year, and they will travel in new, state-of-the-art A330s. The event retired its "Air Pacific" brand to align more closely with what makes Fiji unique, its people. With increased frequency of flights and new aircrafts, it will be even easier for Americans to get to the 333 islands of Fiji, home to happiness and rich culture. "We are honored to be Fiji's flying ambassador to the world—now the Fijian experience starts the moment you enter the plane," said Aubrey Swift, Fiji Airways Acting CEO. English/Nat The island of Fiji, once some people's idea of a paradise on Earth, is now learning a painful financial lesson. The country's economy - based on tourism, sugar production and clothes manufacturing - has been frozen since armed rebels stormed Parliament House on May 19 and took Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and most of his government hostage. Some believe the damage could be long-term, and it may take many years for the economy to fully recover. Tourism has been the first casualty with Japanese and Australian tourists staying away from the troubled tropical resort island. But now the other industries are also feeling the effects. Next to tourism, the two biggest industries are sugar, worth around U-S 120 million dollars a year from exports, and cloth...

Fiji Airways flight experience, onboard the Airbus A330-200 aircraft from Nadi to Singapore. This long-haul red-eye flight departs Nadi at 11pm and arrives 10 hours and 18 minutes later in Singapore. On this flight, drinks are served before the hot meal service. Breakfast commences about 2.5 hours prior to landing. Throughout the flight, the friendly cabin crew offer Fiji Natural Artesian Water at regular intervals. Entertainment options are good as well, and I also like the flight tracking map feature. It has been a comfortable journey with Fiji Airways. Vinaka vakelevu, Fiji Airways. Thank you for watching this Fiji Airways flight experience on FlightTravels. Remember to subscribe!

The Polynesian Cultural Center is a center that aims to preserve the cultures of the main islands of Polynesia. Humanitarian agencies are warning that Fiji may be facing a potential health crisis after one of the most powerful cyclones on record battered the Pacific island nation. Harsh winds and torrential rains cut power, water and communication links across the country on Saturday night. The archipelago of about 300 islands was hit by winds that gusted up to 325 kilometres an hour. The capital Suva escaped the brunt of the storm after it changed direction at the last minute. http://www.pacificprime.com/countries/fiji/ More about health insurance in Fiji If you are living or working in Fiji, then you are very lucky, but it is important to get the right health insurance plan. But if the situation is more serious medical emergency or perhaps a car accident which is very serious then a lot of people will need to be evacuated. That is most likely gone to be Australia or possibly New Zealand. In that situation who is gone to paid? They are international health insurance plans available which will cover you in that scenario. Why a Vacation to Fiji is Good For Your Health: http://www.turtleairways.com/science-says-vacation-fiji-good-health/ It’s the stress that gets you. It eats you up from the inside. Reducing stress is necessary to live a happy, and healthy life. When you are under a lot of stress, your body releases a hormone called Cortisol. Certain sounds can also trigger Cortisol release like traffic. However, the sound of ocean waves can lower Cortisol levels. Studies have shown that low volume, low pitched, rhythmic sounds can lower stress levels. Ocean waves are low volume, low pitched, rhythmic sounds. Some psychologists have suggested that the sound of ocean waves, subconsciously, reminds of being in the womb, and recalls the sound of our mothers heartbeat. These memories cause a sense of safety, and...
Fiji began a massive cleanup on Monday after one of the most powerful storms recorded in the southern hemisphere tore through the Pacific island nation, flattening remote villages, cutting off communications and killing at least 10 people. Aid agencies warned of a widespread health crisis, particularly in low-lying areas of the country where thousands of the country's 900,000 people live in tin shacks, after crops were wiped out and fresh water supplies blocked. Many people remained hunkered down in hundreds of evacuation centers across the country, where they had headed before tropical cyclone Winston hit late Saturday, packing winds of up to 200 mph. The 10 fatalities were all along the western coast and were caused mainly by flying debris and drowning in storm surges http://feeds.reute...

New Years Eve 2015/16 aboard the Celebrity Solstice out of Sydney visiting Noumea, Vanuatu, Mystery Island, Lifou and New Caledonia. Filmed using a gopro 3 Silver because the cruise security confiscated my DJI Phantom 3 quadcopter before boarding and refused to give it back until we landed back in Sydney. Gave some lame arse excuse about flying it around the ship in port....as if I couldn't have already done that in Sydney before boarding if I wanted to. I would hardly fly it at sea....guaranteed to lose it then. Overboard.

Fiji Soccer Coach Frank Farina, represented Australia, Celebrity Chef and Fiji Airways Culinary Ambassador Lance Seeto held the flag for Asia, conductor and composer Igelese Ete for New Zealand, Fiji’s first International model Phillipa Steele standing in for the United States, and our very own Fiji Rugby Sevens Captain Courageous Osea Kolinisau held the fort in home base. See who lived up to the challenge, and who sank to the bottom of the lake.

It's hard to explain
The hardships and pain
That true lovers must endure
That's for sure
I have my regrets
But much more than that
This special love we must secure
More and more
There's no better feelin'
Than when I rise up to see the morning sun
And watch the sunrise in you eyes
You're like the summer breeze
When I'm going through my winter time
So baby take this love of mine
'Cause anything you want, girl
I will give it to you
Anything you need, girl
My heart will be so true
Anything you want, girl
I will give it to you
Anything you need, girl
My heart will always be true to you
They say once you're bit, you're twice as shy
I have no reason to ask you why, why oh why
We must understand the ultimate plan
Is that we live a happy life
In the by and by
There's no better feelin'
Than when I rise up to see the morning sun
And watch the sunrise in you eyes
You're like the summer breeze
That comes to me in the winter time
So honey, I hope you realize
'Cause anything you want, girl
I will give it to you
Anything you need, girl
My heart will always be true
Anything you want, girl
I will surely give it to you
Anything you need, girl
