Revelations and Radical Radio

This Sunday 19 June from 4-7pm the Pan Afrikan Poets Café broadcasts live from the station at 21 Smith Street, Fitzroy. 'Revelations And Radical Radio' is a 3-hour live-to-air program of spoken word and music featuring new, cutting edge and classic First Nations and Afrikan storytelling and conscious reggae music. 'Revelations And Radical Radio' is hosted by Sista Zai Zanda and Dub Reggae Selector, Third Culture. This is a unique broadcast and fundraiser for 3CR in celebration of 40 years of Radical Radio. $20 studio audience tickets are available on the door (subject to availability). $10 pre-sale tickets are online. Sisters Akousmatica

Seven sound artists, seven hours, seven locations. On this Sunday 8 May 2016 join Radio Queens Julia Drouhin and Pip Stafford for a sound walk around the Yarra River between 11am and 6pm, or tune in live via 3CR. Young people can also explore these ideas further in a workshop with sound artists Sally McIntyre and Rosalind Hall. Participants will make recordings using surrounding environments that explore the idea of unheard and unseen sound such as radio and electromagnetic waves (details below). Developed through Next Wave’s Emerging Curators Program, Sisters Akousmatica is a partnership with Liquid Architecture for Next Wave Festival 2016. Presented in association with Signal and 3CR. We Weren't Born Yesterday

We Weren’t Born Yesterday is a radio series exploring queer heritage, vocabulary and intergenerational connections in migrant communities in Australia. Produced by the Queering the Air Collective at 3CR Community Radio, the series features four hour-long episodes focusing on the voices of GLBTIQ people from Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic and Hindi speaking backgrounds.

Women Migrants’ Legal Information Project

This project was developed by the Victoran Women Lawyer’s justice committee in response to concern that migrant women are not reporting domestic violence because they don’t know their legal rights in Australia. The project has resulted in the development of 3 radio announcements airing on radio station 3CR’s Arabic language programs covering areas of relevant law: family, domestic violence and immigration law. Funded by a Victoria Law Foundation grant, managed by Satu Marjaana Aho.

People's Tours of Yarra

Join us for five tours in Yarra discovering radical craft, women's rollerderby, 25 years of 8-ball, the politics of rage and a journey into local Aboriginal history.

People's Tours of Music

The 3CR People’s Tours of Music project facilitated by Jane Curtis (peoplestour.net) and Nicole Hurtubise produced four audio tours in collaboration with emerging Melbourne musicians from diverse backgrounds and musical genres. The project was funded by the Community Broadcasting Foundation as part of their AMRAP project funding.

Girls On Air

Girls on Air is a radio training project for young women from the City of Yarra's culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

The Girls On Air project provided radio training, as well as support and resourcing to produce radio features for broadcast and podcast on International Women’s Day 8 March 2010. The radio features cover social and political issues affecting young women.

3CR Mural Project

In 2010 3CR created an exciting new mural on the outside of its building at 21 Smith Street Fitzroy. Artists Bindi Cole, Tom Civil and Reko Renniecollaborated, consulted and included the community in painting, pasting and designing window stickers, neon lights and light boxes.

The 3CR Mural Project was supported by Arts Victoria, the City of Yarra and the JBSeed Fund. Come check it out at 21 Smith Street Fitzroy anytime!

Carlton Live! Voice from the Flats

CARLTON LIVE! is a collection of voices and songs from the Carlton Housing Estate. Each voice has a story to tell about living in Carlton or coming to Australia or just about what is going on inside the mind of the songwriter.

Many of the songs were recorded as part of the Carlton Musicians Course, staged in 2009 by 3CR Community Radio in partnership with the City of Melbourne’s Carlton Flats Arts Project. Featuring music by Ruth Rogers-Wright, Sekove Tui, Joseph Zammit and Mick Varney.

People's Tours of Local History

A Local History Grant helped 3CR to create audio tours of Melbourne’s social, activist and cultural local history. The tours are fact-based but also very personal, with tour guides describing why certain historical places, events and times have special meaning for them. The tours were also conducted as live walks with an audience as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2009.

The tours were broadcast on 3CR and are on line at the People's Tour website.

Doutta Galla Training

3CR ran a radio training project for a small group of people from the Doutta Galla Community Health Service. 3CR trainers Nicole Hurtubise, Michael Smith and Elena McMasters took the group through the steps of learning radio with the focus being the production of an audio segment each.
