Emo /ˈiːmoʊ/ is a style of rock music characterized by expressive, often confessional, lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as "emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. As the style was echoed by contemporary American punk rock bands, its sound and meaning shifted and changed, blending with pop punk and indie rock and encapsulated in the early 1990s by groups such as Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate. By the mid-1990s numerous emo acts emerged from the Midwestern and Central United States, and several independent record labels began to specialize in the style.
Emo broke into mainstream culture in the early 2000s with the platinum-selling success of Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional and the emergence of the subgenre "screamo". In the wake of this success, many emo bands were signed to major record labels and the style became a marketable product. By the late 2000s, emo's popularity began to decrease. Some bands moved away from their emo roots and some bands also disbanded. An underground "emo revival" emerged in the 2010s, with bands drawing on the sounds and aesthetics of emo of the 1990s and early 2000s. Offshoot genres emerged such as emo pop and emoviolence (a style of screamo and powerviolence).

Emo and goth people will always be a mystery to me. They try to emphasize how little they care about other people and their opinions but do whatever they can to get their attention. Weird. Anyways, here are some cringe emo people. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Have you seen any cringe videos with a low amount of views? LIKE if you find Emo kids to be hilarious, DISLIKE if you are extremely sensitive to people criticizing emos. Emo, it's not a phase mom & dad... only based on my brief research, the evidence is pretty overwhelming that for the most part, emo kids are just posers, pretending to be whatever is socially convenient for them. Darlin, without you
Too much conversation
Darlin, without you
Too much information
Darlin, without you
Everyday goes
Darlin, without you
Too much desperation
Darlin, without you
Too much destination
Darlin, without you
(With or without you)
Everyday flows
Hold on
Standing in the shadow
Watching the people in the way
Let it hold on
You got no cast a shadow
Watching the people turn away
How long d'you roam?
Until the dawn?
Some might say same old questions
Somehow they don't need me no more
Some might say same old questions

JSRW is a celebration of the Monmouth and Ocean county dining scene, and all participating restaurants offer a special three-course, specially priced "restaurant week" menu. There will also be special events happening throughout the week. On Sunday, the annual Great Jersey Shore Martini Contest will go down at Doolan's in Spring Lake Heights. Asbury Park's Cross and Orange will host the annual "Dream Dinner" where top chefs from around the Jersey Shore gather to prepare you food. The Asbury Hotel will host a wine, cheese and pasta night November 20. Friday through November 20, Hamlet-Toms River. www.jerseyshorerestaurantweek.com
ART ALL DAY: An avid art scene may not be Trenton's most obvious attribute -- but it should be climbing the list. Artworks in Trenton has been working hard to promote artistic diversity in the city, bridging socioeconomic gaps to create a strong artistic community. This Saturday will be its annual Art All Day event, a free open studio tour and creative showcase. The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. and will feature 85 artists from all disciplines at 23 sites throughout the entire city. There will be walking and trolley tours, hosted by Art All Day staff members, that will highlight and inform attendees on the great local art of the Trenton scene. The event will end with a reception at the Artworks building from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Free (but suggested donations range from $5-$20). Saturday noon 5 p.m., 9 Everett Alley, Trenton, (609) 394-9436.
THANKS4GIVING PLUNGE IN ASBURY: Polar bear plunge season starts a little early. The Thanks4Giving Plunge, which benefits the Special Olympics of New Jersey, will take place this Saturday outside Convention Hall in Asbury Park. You can register online as a solo plunger, or as part of a team. Check-in time will be from 10 a.m. to noon. The plunge will start at 1 p.m. According to current weather reports, it is expected to be 51 degrees outside, which is pretty warm for a plunge. There is a post-plunge party starting at 1:30 p.m. which is free for plungers, and $10 for non-plungers $100 (plunge). Saturday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Convention Hall, 1300 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park.
YELLOWCARD SAYS FAREWELL: One of the top bands from the pop-punk boom era will say their final word to New Jersey on Sunday night at Starland Ballroom. Yellowcard, a band that hails from Jacksonville, Fla. originally and broke into the hearts of mainstream audiences with their undeniably catchy anthem "Ocean Avenue." Their high energy blend of punk-rock, emo, and the incorporation of the violin set them apart from their contemporaries. The band, which has been performing together since 1997, announced on March 22 of this year that they be releasing their final record (which is self-titled), and they would break-up following the conclusion of their current tour. So if you're a fan, this is probably the last time you'll ever see this band perform. Opening up will be Like Torches, and DRYJACKET. Sunday, 7 p.m. 570 Jernee Mill Road, Sayreville. 732-238-550.
THE RODEO COMES TO ATLANTIC CITY: Atlantic City may not usually house a list of real-life cowboys, but that'll all change this week. Friday and Saturday the 39th Annual American Finals Rodeo will take place at Boardwalk Hall. American Finals Rodeo is one of the oldest rodeos in the Northeast, and this week 12 competitors will vie to take the #1 spot in the rodeo. Events include: bull riding, saddle Bronc riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling, tie down roping, and breakaway roping. There will be an after-party at The Wild Wild West Bar at Bally's. $17-$101. Friday, Saturday 7 p.m. 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City. 609-348-7000.
NIKKI GLASER IN NEW BRUNSWICK: One of the hottest female comics in the game today comes to the Stress Factory in New Brunswick on Thursday. Nikki Glaser, star of Comedy Central's "Not Safe with Nikki Glaser," will perform a three night, five show stand at the famed Hub City comedy club. Glaser first caught on the national spotlight appearing on two seasons of "Last Comic Standing," then followed it up co-hosting the late night MTV series, "Nikki & Sara Live." In 2016 "Not Safe" premiered and propelled her to new heights of popularity. $32-$45. Thursday 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m., 9:45 p.m. 90 Church Street, New Brunswick. 732-545-4242.
A CHRISTMAS STORY AT COUNT BASIE: The BB Gun. The pink bunny suit. The lamp. Scott Farcas. All of these holiday pop-culture favorites will be on stage at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank as Phoenix Productions presents "A Christmas Story." The show, which will run the next two weekends, is based on the iconic 1983 Christmas film starring Peter Billingsley as the wide-eyed Midwestern boy named Ralphie who, famously, only wants a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock. The film has become one of the top Christmas films of all-time, and it's annual 24-hour marathon showing is a staple for cable television. $22-$32. Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 3 p.m. 99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank. 732-224-8778.
