The Wonder Years is an American television comedy-drama created by Neal Marlens and Carol Black. It ran on ABC from 1988 until 1993. The pilot aired on January 31, 1988, following ABC's coverage of Super Bowl XXII.
The show achieved a spot in the Nielsen Top 30 for four of its six seasons.TV Guide named the show one of the 20 best of the 1980s. After only six episodes aired, The Wonder Years won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1988. In addition, at age 13, Fred Savage became the youngest actor ever nominated as Outstanding Lead Actor for a Comedy Series. The show was also awarded a Peabody Award in 1989, for "pushing the boundaries of the sitcom format and using new modes of storytelling." In total, the series won 22 awards and was nominated for 54 more. In 1997, "My Father's Office" was ranked #29 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time, and in the 2009 revised list the pilot episode was ranked #43.
The series was conceived by writers Neal Marlens and Carol Black. They set out to create a family show that would appeal to the baby-boomer generation by setting the series in the late 60s, a time of radical change in America's history. They also wanted the series to tie this setting in to the life of a normal boy growing up during the period. After writing the script for the pilot episode, Marlens and Black began shopping the series to television networks. None of them were interested, except for ABC, with whom Marlens and Black reached an agreement. This show is one of the last of the family oriented comedy shows produced while at the same time the family was somewhat dysfunctional. Some described the show as a rough-around-the-edges version of Leave It To Beaver.

For five years, the hit TV series 'The Wonder Years' brought families together for a wholesome look back at an all-American childhood. The show followed the lives of Winnie Cooper and Kevin Arnold played by Danica McKellar and Fred Savage. Fans remember the show fondly. "All these years later that they still think about the show; that the show still means something to them. Only now is it really settling in how the show has endured," said Savage. The co-stars are currently promoting the DVD version of 'The Wonder Years.' The complete set is packaged inside a miniature school locker. "Inside is even more amazing. They went and did so much research. They got pictures and behind-the-scenes photos, Kevin and Winnie's notebooks from school,' said McKellar.

For six years America tuned in to follow the exploits of Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage), as he navigated adolescence in the most memorable of ways. Moderated by acclaimed columnist and NPR “Fresh Air” critic David Bianculli, Fred Savage, Danica McKellar (girl-next-door Winnie Cooper) and Josh Saviano (Kevin’s BFF Paul Pfeiffer) discuss growing up on camera—crushes, first kisses, and all the other indignities that come from going from tween to teen in front of America. The Wonder Years deals with social problems and historical events that took place during the 80´s in Colombia, as seen through the eyes of the main character, Kevin Gonzalez, who will also face the classic conflicts of being a teenager (mainly with his best friend Fede and Catalina Mendoza, whom he is romantically interested in) like family arguments and other issues. The stories are narrated by a wiser and older Kevin, who describes what was going on and what he has learned from his experiences.
Working all day for a mean little man
With a clip-on tie and a rub-on tan
He's got me running 'round the office like a dog around a track
But when I get back home,
You're always there to rub my back
Hey Julie,
Look what they're doing to me
Trying to trip me up
Trying to wear me down
Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it
And I'd never make it through without you around
And I'd never make it through without you around
Hours on the phone making pointless calls
I got a desk full of papers that means nothing at all
Sometimes I catch myself staring into space
Counting down the hours 'til I get to see your face
Hey Julie,
Look what they're doing to me
Trying to trip me up
Trying to wear me down
Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it
And I'd never make it through without you around
No, I'd never make it through without you around
How did it come to be
That you and I must be
Far away from each other every day?
Why must I spend my time
Filling up my mind
With facts and figures that never add up anyway?
They never add up anyway
Working all day for a mean little guy
With a bad toupee and a soup-stained tie
He's got me running 'round the office
Like a gerbil on a wheel
He can tell me what to do
But he can't tell me what to feel
Hey Julie,
Look what they're doing to me
Trying to trip me up
Trying to wear me down
Julie, I swear, it's so hard to bear it
And I'd never make it through without you around
No, I'd never make it through without you around
