Leeds 
i/liːdz/ is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Historically in Yorkshire's West Riding, the history of Leeds can be traced to the 5th century when the name referred to a wooded area of the Kingdom of Elmet. The name has been applied to many administrative entities over the centuries. It changed from being the appellation of a small manorial borough in the 13th century, through several incarnations, to being the name attached to the present metropolitan borough. In the 17th and 18th centuries Leeds became a major centre for the production and trading of wool. Then, during the Industrial Revolution, Leeds developed into a major mill town; wool was the dominant industry but flax, engineering, iron foundries, printing, and other industries were important. From being a compact market town in the valley of the River Aire in the 16th century Leeds expanded and absorbed the surrounding villages to become a populous urban centre by the mid-20th century. The main built-up area sub-division has a population of 474,632 (2011), and the City of Leeds metropolitan borough of which it is a part which has an estimated population of 757,700 (2011).

Leeds Castle is in Kent, England, 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Maidstone. A castle has been on the site since 1119. In the 13th century it came into the hands of King Edward I, for whom it became a favourite residence; in the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a residence for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The castle today dates mostly from the 19th century and is built on islands in a lake formed by the River Len to the east of the village of Leeds. It has been open to the public since 1976
An aviary was added in 1980 and by 2011 it contained over 100 species, but it was decided to close it in October 2012 as it was felt the foundation could make better use of the £200,000 a year it cost to keep the aviary running.[12] The castle and its grounds are a major leisure destination with a maze, a grotto, a golf course and what may be the world's only museum of dog collars.
It is a Grade I listed building (first listed in 1952) and recognised as an internationally important structure. In 1998 Leeds Castle was one of 57 heritage sites in England to receive more than 200,000 visitors. According to figures released by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, nearly 560,000 people visited the castle in 2010.
In June and July 2015, visitor numbers fell by 30% due to Operation Stack being implemented on the M20, in which the attraction is just off Junction 8, this is a result of the ongoing migrant crisis in Calais.

This is the fourth in a series of short (5 second) burst films that I am making depicting life in the city of Leeds. The film is taken at varying locations in and around the city of Leeds, including Holbeck, Middleton, Beeston, Cookridge, Holt Park, Otley, Horsforth, Headingley, Hyde Park and Wetherby. The film is taken from the street, in pubs, in shopping centres, from station platforms, at the airport, from buses, on buses, from trains, on trains and from cars. The film contains over 120 5 second clips shot randomly of life in Leeds. At 11:50 there is a barge which has become wedged under a balcony / walkway, lifting the balcony / walkway above it. This is just under Centenary Bridge, opposite Oracle Bar.

According to the Environment Agency, the River Aire went on to reach 2.93 metres at Crown Point at 23:30. It's typical height is between 0.53 and 1.35 metres.
