Colt(s) or COLT may refer to:
The M1911 is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, recoil-operated pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. It served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. It was first used in later stages of the Philippine–American War, and was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The pistol's formal designation as of 1940 was Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911 for the original model of 1911 or Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1 for the M1911A1, adopted in 1924. The designation changed to Pistol, Caliber .45, Automatic, M1911A1 in the Vietnam era.
In total, the U.S. procured around 2.7 million M1911 and M1911A1 pistols in military contracts during its service life. The M1911 was replaced by the 9mm Beretta M9 pistol as the standard U.S. sidearm in October 1986, but due to its popularity among users, it has not been completely phased out. Modernized derivative variants of the M1911 are still in use by some units of the U.S. Army Special Forces, the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.
A trigger is a mechanism that actuates the firing sequence of a firearm or crossbow; a trigger may also start another mechanism such as a trap or a quick release. A small amount of energy applied to the trigger causes the release of much more energy. Triggers usually consist of levers or buttons actuated by the index finger. Some variations use the thumb or weak fingers to actuate the trigger, a feature found on mounted weapons such as the M2 Browning machine gun and the Springfield Armory M6 Scout.
Firearms use triggers to initiate the firing of a cartridge in the firing chamber of the weapon. This is accomplished by actuating a striking device through a combination of spring and kinetic energy operating through a firing pin to strike and ignite the primer. There are two primary types of striking mechanisms, hammers and strikers. Hammers are spring-tensioned masses of metal that pivot on a pin when released and strike a firing pin to discharge a cartridge. Strikers are, essentially, spring-loaded firing pins that travel on an axis in-line with the cartridge eliminating the need for a separate hammer. The connection between the trigger and the hammer is generally referred to as the sear surface. Variable mechanisms will have this surface directly on the trigger and hammer or have separate sears or other connecting parts.
The Colt Single Action Army which is also known as the Single Action Army, SAA, Model P, Peacemaker, M1873, and Colt .45 is a single-action revolver with a revolving cylinder holding six metallic cartridges. It was designed for the U.S. government service revolver trials of 1872 by Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company – today's Colt's Manufacturing Company – and was adopted as the standard military service revolver until 1892.
The Colt SAA has been offered in over 30 different calibers and various barrel lengths. Its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1873. Colt has discontinued its production twice, but brought it back due to popular demand. The revolver was popular with ranchers, lawmen, and outlaws alike, but as of the early 21st century, models are mostly bought by collectors and re-enactors. Its design has influenced the production of numerous other models from other companies.
The Colt SAA revolver is a famous piece of Americana, known as "The Gun That Won the West".

Brief overview of the Colt .45 ACP Series 80, including closeup video segments, and target shooting. The era of the 1911 .45 ACP semiautomatic handgun on the TNOUTDOORS9 channel begins with this video. I have owned handguns since 1987 but until this point had never owned one in the 1911 platform. Handling the 1911 is an absolute pleasure; reliability and accuracy out of the box are spot-on. Recoil is quite controllable for fast, accurate follow-up shots. I could not have gotten too far into 2011, the 100th anniversary of the 1911 platform, without acquiring a 1911 handgun. The Colt was my first choice, with the Model 80 or 70 Series at the top of the list, Colt Commander being next. After Colt, Springfield would have likely been my next option. This gun was acquired new from a deale...

I waited 10 years to review the Colt AR-15. Not because it isn't great but other excellent brands needed some press to break some group think. But the time is now to give Colt and its long track record of military combat in multiple theaters its due credit. Reviewed will be the preferred "naked" Colt 6920 version which we outfit with some extra furniture here. We look at how excellent this AR-15 is: 100% reliable with all loads, very accurate, lightweight, affordable, and you can't wear it out. Just look at our cop issue Colt AR-15A3, Diemaco Canada built for proof, shown https://youtu.be/rChX7JTfzhI. Many equally excellent AR15 brands abound: POF, S&W;, BCM, and others but you'll still be wise to arm up with a Colt, its milspec quality, and unmatched track record. Nutnfancy Likabi...
Steve had the privilege of visiting the old Colt factory in Hartford, CT and was given an in-depth tour of their new manufacturing facilities. To say that Steve was blown away by the skill and attention to detail of their staff is an understatement. We were very blessed to be able to tell this story to our viewers even if it's only through still photos.

In this video, we take to the range and talk about the history of the Colt 9mm SMG series. Based on the original XM177 carbine and more recently the M4, the Colt family of 9mms has been on the market since 1985. We begin with the R635 SMG, and its civilian semi-only counterpart; the LE6450 carbine. Next we take a look at the so-called 'briefcase' gun, the R633 used most famously by the Department Of Energy (DOE). Here we have an original Colt upper with 7" barrel, on a LAR9 lower made by Rock River. Finally, we wrap things up with Colt's current production carbine model, the AR6951. It is the semi version of the R991/992 9mm SMG. Visit http://ozarkbeararms.blogspot.com to read range reports and more articles on other firearms and accessories. Gramps gives Jeff a horse which makes Jeff forget about Lassie until the collie runs away. (TRIVIA: This early episode was the second of only six Lassie episodes directed by Sheldon Leonard, a former actor who went on to become one of Hollywood's all time greatest directors/producers. He had just moved from acting to directing in the early 1950's, and Lassie was quite possibly one of his earliest directing job ( Leonard is credited with directing Make Room For Daddy in 1953). Unfortunately, no where is it noted, including in Wikipedia, that Sheldon Leonard directed the 2nd and 3rd episodes of the longest running series in the history of television - Lassie. Chuck Lorre, who created The Big Bang Theory, named his two main characters - Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter - as an homage to ...
