Historical reenactment (or re-enactment) is an educational or entertainment activity in which people follow a plan to recreate aspects of a historical event or period. This may be as narrow as a specific moment from a battle, such as the reenactment of Pickett's Charge presented during the Great Reunion of 1913, or as broad as an entire period, such as Regency reenactment or The 1920s Berlin Project.
Activities related to "reenactment" have a long history. The Romans staged recreations of famous battles within their amphitheaters as a form of public spectacle. In the Middle Ages, tournaments often reenacted historical themes from Ancient Rome or elsewhere.
Military displays and mock battles and reenactments first became popular in 17th century England. In 1638, a staged battle between Christian and Muslim forces was enacted in London, and the Roundheads, flush from a series of victories during the Civil War, reenacted a recent battle at Blackheath in 1645, despite the ongoing conflict.
Living History is a 2003 memoir by Hillary Rodham Clinton (a former First Lady and future Secretary of State of the United States), at which time she was a sitting Senator from New York.
In December 2000, Simon & Schuster agreed to pay Clinton a reported $8 million advance for what became Living History—a near-record figure to an author for an advance at that time. Critics charged that the book deal, coming soon after her election to the U.S. Senate, but before being sworn into office, was not in adherence to the ethical standards required for members of the U.S. Senate. However, in February 2001, the Senate Ethics Committee gave Clinton approval for the deal.
The Norman and English armies clash on the slopes of Senlac Hill, with over 1,000 reenactors on the very ground that the historic Battle of Hastings was fought on almost a thousand years ago. Filmed at the annual reenactment in Battle, East Sussex. All musical credit to Howard Shore. This year (2012) was considered a "big one" and so it had more reenactors present than usual. The battle is reenacted on the same ground that saw the actual Battle of Hastings in 1066AD. Embarrassingly, I forgot to bring an extra battery and memory card (how?), and because the second day of the event was cancelled due to soggy ground, I was unable to redeem myself and get footage of the final scenes of the battle. Nonetheless, I have put together as well a video as I can with my footage and I hope it sati...

German troops must defend an airfield against an American attack, both from the ground and from the air. Filmed at the WW2 reenactment in Elkhart, IN. This was the first year for this event.

650 years ago Gotland was traumatised. A Danish army, consisting of knights and professional soldiers invaded Gotland, and the peasants of the island gathered to resist the invaders. Thousands of them were slain. The project Battle of Wisby honored the fallen and their sacrifice for freedom by reenacting the battle and putting up a big military camp outside the walls of Wisby. You find the organization for the reenactment here: http://www.battleofwisby.com/ This film is an edited version of the reenactment on the 13th August 2011

A few days ago, a friend from the local reenactment society asked if I could fill the place of a member who couldn't make it to the eve of Hari Merdeka 2016, and I agreed. I was given a WW2 Japanese soldier's uniform and an authentic (albeit non-functioning) Arisaka rifle loaned from Muzium Negara for a surprise gimmick to the students 15 minutes before National Day, at Muzium Tekstil Negara.
Battle of the Nations (2015): It may look like a scene from Game of Thrones, but here at "Battle of the Nations" - the world championships for medieval sword fighting - there is no script and the blows are frighteningly real. I hope you enjoy all the same. I also only took one camera and filmed the whole thing handheld as I made way there on a my bike. Next year, I'll see if I can get some more cameras and crew down there and we can do a multi-camera production. The Living History Weekend at the Museum of The American GI was totally awesome. This is the WWII reenactment caught with 3 cameras shot at 1080i as a spectator. It would be better if i had a better spot but it still turned out decent. Its very slow at first due to my shooting spot but i gets much better! I shot this on 4-2-16. I cant wait for next year I will get a better spot and make it really awesome. This film is a documentary about a large reenactment in sweden. Reenactors are both historians, craftmen and entertainers, but are often judged as geeks in strange outfits.
