New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

After almost 16 years later after the massive terrorist attacks has happened in the World Trade Center, NYC (American & United Airlines Flights 11 and 175), The Pentagon, D.C (American Airlines Flight 77) and the field of Somerset County, PA (United Airlines Flight 93), This was the biggest and tragic moments we had ever saw in history of September 11th, 2001. I was only 4 years old when this happened while I was in school. There was breaking news everywere! The attacks had caused the death toll of 2,996 and 6,000+ of injuries. This was the worst and deadliest terrorist attacks we had ever saw in U.S soil. More people had died on September 11th, 2001 compared to the bombings at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Rest in Peace for those people had died during these major terror attacks. A...
A Brief Review: 68 Years of NTSC for CBS CBS's first television broadcasts were experimental, often only for one hour a day, and reaching a limited area in and around New York City (over station W2XAB channel 2, later called WCBW and finally WCBS-TV). The FCC began licensing commercial television stations on July 1, 1941; [on that day, they issued a license] to WCBW, (now WCBS). On Feb 12 1946, the newly completed AT&T; inter-city coaxial cable was inaugurated with an experimental broadcast of Lincoln Memorial Services from Washington DC to NBC, CBS, and DuMonts stations in New York. This date is commonly referred to as the birth date of television network broadcasting. The term "chain broadcasting" was used, as the stations were linked together in long chains along the e...
Here's the intro to "Ziiegfeld Follies" on New York's WCBS "Late Show" in 1979.
A video I took during a visit in New York's news radio. In the studio: WCBS 880 afternoon anchors Steve Scott and Wayne Cabot
Weeknight newscast from the CBS O&O; in New York. Commercials are included. Video quality varies due to over-the-air reception. Special thanks to stevieboy24/7. The New York flagship station of the CBS Television Network back when it signed off for one hour each morning at 5 AM. Complete with "Give Us This Day" (featuring a Rabbi), sign-off, National Anthem film, one minute of vintage black-and-white WCBS-TV test pattern, then the sign-on with the classic NAB Television Code Seal.
Jim Jensen anchors this brief 1974 news update previewing stories on the 6 p.m. broadcast.
Used for "News 2" from 2000-2002. Apparently, a version of this plays sometimes on The Price is Right, but I wouldn't know, since I don't watch game shows. FACTOID: At this point, another piece by Kalehoff (the "NBC Stations" theme, I believe it was called) was running on WNBC's newscasts simultaneously, meaning viewers on two different stations in New York got to hear Edd's work. -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com

I've posted CBS Late Movie opens before, but I like this one because it has the local sponsorship cards for The Wiz and Willowbrook Nissan (which gets a WCBS slide instead of a personalized one). This is preceded by a Columbus Day 1986 ad for The Furmakers at Alexander's, a brief Mental Illness Foundation public service announcement, and a WCBS Divorce Court promo. No rights held or implied. This is radio history. On June 3, 2005, WCBS-FM's former owners bluntly turned the station into a non-DJ format called JACK. Without even knowing what was about to happen, a listener taped what was to be the last moments of the station, as you'll hear a montage of some of the DJ's last minutes. As you'll hear, nobody knew they were about to be fired, except Bill Brown, who clearly understood something was about to happen at the tail end of his show, just before the switch. You will hear people like Harry Harrison, Mickey Dolenz, Cousin Brucie, etc. WCBS-FM's last song was "The Summer wind". 9:40 Two years after, on July 12, 2007, the new owners had JACK hit the road, back to WCBS-FM since then, as you will hear the very moment it happened, including a great music-and-sound montage fr...

Vacation travel video about destination New York City in New York. New York continues to be one of the world’s most famous cities, a true world metropolis and major symbol of the American Dream. Manhattan Island is the city’s most well known district and the Rockefeller Center in Midtown is often referred to as the heart of the New York. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred a...

New York City is a fascinating city to travel. So I'm going to share travel tips for new york city. New York City revolves around three things: time, speed and efficiency. In fact a lot of Manhattanites live by daily mental check lists and feel like they never have enough time to everything they want and need to do. Today I'm going to share with you my New York City Travel Guide of Tips. 1. Bring comfortable and practical shoes. Now I know a lot of you have probably watched Sex & the City and the women in that TV show always wear high heels. That's because they were taking taxi cabs everywhere. Unless you're taking taxi cabs everywhere , be prepared to walk. A lot. you'll be walking up and down stairs, you'll be taking the metro and the bus all around and you'll be walking blocks and b...
