2016 Australia Day trashed more than usual.

It is now standard for the concept of Australia Day as one of national pride to be trashed by the usual flag burning, change name to Invasion Day, shift date, selection of Australian of the Year on advocacy of politically correct issues, call for a republic and so on. 2016 brought out the worst.

Items around population/refugee matters

Forthcoming events, North Sydney by-election, population/immigration figures, Syrian refugee mix, refusal by The Age to mention the partial solution to the offshore detainees’ plight.

A humane partial solution to the fate of detainees sent to Nauru and Manus Islands.

A humane proposal which does not involve any weakening of Australia’s policy of not admitting illegal/unauthorised (take your pick) arrivals. It is to admit to Australia as part of the refugee quota those who were on the way when off shore detention, never ever to be settled in Australia, took effect abruptly on 19 July 2013. It would be feasible to legislate to change the Migration Act to be able to renegotiate the exchange with Malaysia or Indonesia for the rest.

Time for a debate on restricting Muslim immigration into Australia.

When Muslims move up towards 10% of the population, congregated in enclaves, social problems appear, escalating to terrorism, as seen in Western Europe countries. Australia is following in their path, now near 3% Muslim, rapidly increasing, and concentrated in enclaves, particularly Western Sydney.

More on Peter Scanlon and his foundation.

In an article in TIA 02/11/15, basically on Abbott, the Scanlon Foundation was described as ‘a pro-immigration/multicultural foundation’. Mention of the Scanlon Foundation brought in comments highly critical of both the Foundation and Scanlon himself. Readers have suggested looking further and given some pointers.

If you don’t like it here, then leave

Versions of this statement has been around for some time. The speaker was always branded xenophobic, even racist, by the braying PC mob. Now after a Muslim leader has said it, our political leaders are emboldened to say it. Better still would be ‘don’t come’ and a lid put on Muslim immigration, from the ME, or elsewhere.

Tony Abbott talks common sense on how Europe can avoid being swamped by boat people.

Ex PMs (and also Opposition Leaders only) are constantly in the news, justifying their actions, criticising the incumbents and suggesting what they should do, Now Tony Abbott joins in justifying his actions.

We await the actions to back up the fine rhetoric from Malcolm Turnbull.

Malcolm Turnbull and  Bill Shorten have in common that both are bigheads in both senses of the word. And their careers have a lot in common. It is not pretty, but shows what it takes to be leader in politics,

Abbott’s main achievements were stopping the boats and initiating a plebiscite.

The history books will characterise Abbott as the most blunder prone PM of Australia. The most noteworthy achievement which changed the course of events was stopping the boats. And hopefully plebiscites will become a way of letting Australians have their say on contentious issues.
