COMCAM soldiers are professionals in the media field, who receive diverse military training. Combat Camera recruits 6-10 Conscripts per year to fulfill their national service in one of the most challenging service branches. When mustered out the conscripts are placed in the reserves, with Combat Camera as their war time role.

Military service includes conscript service, refresher training, extra service and service during mobilisation as well as participation in call-ups and the examination of fitness for service. Call-ups form the first concrete step into military service.
The civic duty of military service is defined in the second chapter of the law on conscription (called Conscription Act). This duty affects all Finnish men and begins when a man turns 18. It continues till he reaches the age of 60. This means a man is liable for military service and that he is either in service, in the reserve or in the auxiliary reserve.

Osana Puolustusvoimien valmiuden kehittämistä Maavoimat aloittaa varusmiesten valmiusyksikkökoulutuksen saapumiserästä 1/2017 alkaen. Valmiusyksiköt muodostetaan varusmiehistä ja palkatusta henkilökunnasta.
Valmiusyksiköillä nostetaan Maavoimien suorituskykyä erityisesti sotilaallisen maanpuolustuksen tehtävissä. Turvallisuusympäristön muutoksista, nopeasti kehittyvien kriisien mahdollisuudesta ja ennakkovaroitusajan lyhentymisestä johtuen on tarve valmiuden joustavaan säätelyyn kasvanut myös maa-alueilla. Valmiusyksiköitä voidaan käyttää normaalioloissa tapauskohtaisesti myös muiden viranomaisten tukemiseen kotimaan häiriötilanteissa tai muissa poikkeuksellisissa tapahtumissa, jotka vaativat laajaa viranomaisyhteistyötä.
Valmiusyksikkökoulutus on uusi koulutuskokonaisuus, joka antaa varusmiespalvelustaan suorittaville mahdollisuuden entistä monipuolisempaan koulutukseen ja vaativimpiin tehtäviin. Valmiusyksiköissä palvelevien varusmiesten palvelusaika on 347 vuorokautta koulutuksen vaativuudesta ja laaja-alaisuudesta johtuen. Valmiusyksiköiden varusmiehille koulutetaan muun muassa lisää asejärjestelmiä, johtamisvälineitä, kenttälääkintää, taistelua rakennetulla alueella, pimeätaistelua ja kohteiden suojaamista sekä toimintaa helikopterijoukkojen kanssa. Valmiusyksiköt osallistuvat valmiusaikana Maavoimien normaaliin harjoitustoimintaan, viranomaisyhteistoimintaharjoituksiin sekä mahdollisuuksien mukaan kansainvälisiin harjoituksiin kotimaassa tai ulkomailla.
Uusi valmiusyksikkökoulutus aloitetaan vuoden 2017 alussa kaikissa Maavoimien joukko-osastoissa, pois lukien Utin Jääkärirykmentti. Varusmiehet määrätään valmiusyksikkökoulutukseen peruskoulutuskauden koulutusvalintojen yhteydessä. War photography involves photographing armed conflict and its effects on people and places.
History
Origins
With the invention of photography in the 1830s, the possibility of capturing the events of war to enhance public awareness was first explored. Although ideally photographers would have liked to accurately record the rapid action of combat, the technical insufficiency of early photographic equipment in recording movement made this impossible. The daguerreotype, an early form of photography that generated a single image using a silver-coated copper plate, took a very long time for the image to develop and could not be processed immediately.
Since early photographers were not able to create images of moving targets, they recorded more sedentary aspects of war, such as fortifications, soldiers, and land before and after battle along with the re-creation of action scenes. Similar to battle photography, portrait images of soldiers were also often staged. In order to produce a photograph, the subject had to be perfectly still for a matter of minutes, so they were posed to be comfortable and minimize movement.

Osana Puolustusvoimien valmiuden kehittämistä Maavoimat aloittaa varusmiesten valmiusyksikkökoulutuksen saapumiserästä 1/2017 alkaen. Valmiusyksiköt muodostetaan varusmiehistä ja palkatusta henkilökunnasta. Valmiusyksiköillä nostetaan Maavoimien suorituskykyä erityisesti sotilaallisen maanpuolustuksen tehtävissä. Turvallisuusympäristön muutoksista, nopeasti kehittyvien kriisien mahdollisuudesta ja ennakkovaroitusajan lyhentymisestä johtuen on tarve valmiuden joustavaan säätelyyn kasvanut myös maa-alueilla. Valmiusyksiköitä voidaan käyttää normaalioloissa tapauskohtaisesti myös muiden viranomaisten tukemiseen kotimaan häiriötilanteissa tai muissa poikkeuksellisissa tapahtumissa, jotka vaativat laajaa viranomaisyhteistyötä. Valmiusyksikkökoulutus on uusi koulutuskokonaisuus, joka antaa varusmiespalvelustaan suorittaville mahdollisuuden entistä monipuolisempaan koulutukseen ja vaativimpiin tehtäviin. Valmiusyksiköissä palvelevien varusmiesten palvelusaika on 347 vuorokautta koulutuksen vaativuudesta ja laaja-alaisuudesta johtuen. Valmiusyksiköiden varusmiehille koulutetaan muun muassa lisää asejärjestelmiä, johtamisvälineitä, kenttälääkintää, taistelua rakennetulla alueella, pimeätaistelua ja kohteiden suojaamista sekä toimintaa helikopterijoukkojen kanssa. Valmiusyksiköt osallistuvat valmiusaikana Maavoimien normaaliin harjoitustoimintaan, viranomaisyhteistoimintaharjoituksiin sekä mahdollisuuksien mukaan kansainvälisiin harjoituksiin kotimaassa tai ulkomailla. Uusi valmiusyksikkökoulutus aloitetaan vuoden 2017 alussa kaikissa Maavoimien joukko-osastoissa, pois lukien Utin Jääkärirykmentti. Varusmiehet määrätään valmiusyksikkökoulutukseen peruskoulutuskauden koulutusvalintojen yhteydessä. Valinta koulutukseen määräytyy ensisijaisesti asevelvollisen soveltuvuuden ja halukkuuden perusteella.

More information: http://bit.ly/FDF_conscript Military service includes conscript service, refresher training, extra service and service during mobilisation as well as participation in call-ups and the examination of fitness for service. Call-ups form the first concrete step into military service. The civic duty of military service is defined in the second chapter of the law on conscription (called Conscription Act). This duty affects all Finnish men and begins when a man turns 18. It continues till he reaches the age of 60. This means a man is liable for military service and that he is either in service, in the reserve or in the auxiliary reserve.

Europe: Finland Military Ready To Join Nato
The country's armed forces are now compatible with NATO's and ready to join the alliance,
Pauli Jaervenpaeae, head of the political department in the military, said.
But he stressed that the question of NATO membership was up to the government and Parliament to decide.
Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Finland, which for decades lived in the Soviet Union's shadow,
has pursued a campaign to anchor the country in Western Europe, joining the European Union in 1995
and adopting the euro as its currency.

Osana Puolustusvoimien valmiuden kehittämistä Maavoimat aloittaa varusmiesten valmiusyksikkökoulutuksen saapumiserästä 1/2017 alkaen. Valmiusyksiköt muodostetaan varusmiehistä ja palkatusta henkilökunnasta.
Valmiusyksiköillä nostetaan Maavoimien suorituskykyä erityisesti sotilaallisen maanpuolustuksen tehtävissä. Turvallisuusympäristön muutoksista, nopeasti kehittyvien kriisien mahdollisuudesta ja ennakkovaroitusajan lyhentymisestä johtuen on tarve valmiuden joustavaan säätelyyn kasvanut myös maa-alueilla. Valmiusyksiköitä voidaan käyttää normaalioloissa tapauskohtaisesti myös muiden viranomaisten tukemiseen kotimaan häiriötilanteissa tai muissa poikkeuksellisissa tapahtumissa, jotka vaativat laajaa viranomaisyhteistyötä.
Valmiusyksikkökoulutus on uusi koulutuskokonaisuus, joka antaa varusmiespalvelustaan suorittaville mahdollisuuden entistä monipuolisempaan koulutukseen ja vaativimpiin tehtäviin. Valmiusyksiköissä palvelevien varusmiesten palvelusaika on 347 vuorokautta koulutuksen vaativuudesta ja laaja-alaisuudesta johtuen. Valmiusyksiköiden varusmiehille koulutetaan muun muassa lisää asejärjestelmiä, johtamisvälineitä, kenttälääkintää, taistelua rakennetulla alueella, pimeätaistelua ja kohteiden suojaamista sekä toimintaa helikopterijoukkojen kanssa. Valmiusyksiköt osallistuvat valmiusaikana Maavoimien normaaliin harjoitustoimintaan, viranomaisyhteistoimintaharjoituksiin sekä mahdollisuuksien mukaan kansainvälisiin harjoituksiin kotimaassa tai ulkomailla.
Uusi valmiusyksikkökoulutus aloitetaan vuoden 2017 alussa kaikissa Maavoimien joukko-osastoissa, pois lukien Utin Jääkärirykmentti. Varusmiehet määrätään valmiusyksikkökoulutukseen peruskoulutuskauden koulutusvalintojen yhteydessä. Valinta koulutukseen määräytyy ensisijaisesti asevelvollisen soveltuvuuden ja halukkuuden perusteella.

Call-ups form the first concrete step into military service. The civic duty of military service is defined in the second chapter of the law on conscription (called Conscription Act). This duty affects all Finnish men and begins when a man turns 18. It continues till he reaches the age of 60. This means a man is liable for military service and that he is either in service, in the reserve or in the auxiliary reserve.

Finland's defence budget equals approximately 2.7 billion euros or 1.3 percent of GDP. The voluntary overseas service is highly popular and troops serve around the world in UN, NATO and EU missions. Homeland defence willingness stands at 76%, one of the highest rates in Europe

Military service includes conscript service, refresher training, extra service and service during mobilisation as well as participation in call-ups and the examination of fitness for service. Call-ups form the first concrete step into military service.
The civic duty of military service is defined in the second chapter of the law on conscription (called Conscription Act). This duty affects all Finnish men and begins when a man turns 18. It continues till he reaches the age of 60. This means a man is liable for military service and that he is either in service, in the reserve or in the auxiliary reserve.

Europe: Finland Military Ready To Join Nato
The country's armed forces are now compatible with NATO's and ready to join the alliance,
Pauli Jaervenpaeae, head of the political department in the military, said.
But he stressed that the question of NATO membership was up to the government and Parliament to decide.
Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Finland, which for decades lived in the Soviet Union's shadow,
has pursued a campaign to anchor the country in Western Europe, joining the European Union in 1995
and adopting the euro as its currency.

Osana Puolustusvoimien valmiuden kehittämistä Maavoimat aloittaa varusmiesten valmiusyksikkökoulutuksen saapumiserästä 1/2017 alkaen. Valmiusyksiköt muodostetaan varusmiehistä ja palkatusta henkilökunnasta.
Valmiusyksiköillä nostetaan Maavoimien suorituskykyä erityisesti sotilaallisen maanpuolustuksen tehtävissä. Turvallisuusympäristön muutoksista, nopeasti kehittyvien kriisien mahdollisuudesta ja ennakkovaroitusajan lyhentymisestä johtuen on tarve valmiuden joustavaan säätelyyn kasvanut myös maa-alueilla. Valmiusyksiköitä voidaan käyttää normaalioloissa tapauskohtaisesti myös muiden viranomaisten tukemiseen kotimaan häiriötilanteissa tai muissa poikkeuksellisissa tapahtumissa, jotka vaativat laajaa viranomaisyhteistyötä.
Valmiusyksikkökoulutus on uusi koulutuskokonaisuus, joka antaa varusmiespalvelustaan suorittaville mahdollisuuden entistä monipuolisempaan koulutukseen ja vaativimpiin tehtäviin. Valmiusyksiköissä palvelevien varusmiesten palvelusaika on 347 vuorokautta koulutuksen vaativuudesta ja laaja-alaisuudesta johtuen. Valmiusyksiköiden varusmiehille koulutetaan muun muassa lisää asejärjestelmiä, johtamisvälineitä, kenttälääkintää, taistelua rakennetulla alueella, pimeätaistelua ja kohteiden suojaamista sekä toimintaa helikopterijoukkojen kanssa. Valmiusyksiköt osallistuvat valmiusaikana Maavoimien normaaliin harjoitustoimintaan, viranomaisyhteistoimintaharjoituksiin sekä mahdollisuuksien mukaan kansainvälisiin harjoituksiin kotimaassa tai ulkomailla.
Uusi valmiusyksikkökoulutus aloitetaan vuoden 2017 alussa kaikissa Maavoimien joukko-osastoissa, pois lukien Utin Jääkärirykmentti. Varusmiehet määrätään valmiusyksikkökoulutukseen peruskoulutuskauden koulutusvalintojen yhteydessä. Valinta koulutukseen määräytyy ensisijaisesti asevelvollisen soveltuvuuden ja halukkuuden perusteella.

Medical Service of the Finnish Armed Forces in the Winter (Finnish Defence Forces?, 1942?)
This film is an English-language version of a captured German film that describes the uses of paper products by the Finnish armed forces in protecting their wounded from freezing during initial treatment and evacuation. Paper proved to be good protection against wind and cold, it was inexpensive, fairly strong, and it could be used repeatedly. The film consists of footage of troops dressed in white cold-weather gear fighting in snow-covered terrain and of corpsmen caring for the wounded and demonstrating the uses of paper products. Evacuation sleds with sides made partially of cardboard are shown. Corpsmen drive the horse-drawn sleds to an area just behind a fighting front. From there, troops on skis pull a canoe-like sled to the front to evacuate the wounded back to the horse-drawn sleds....

This film is an English-language version of a captured German film that describes the uses of paper products by the Finnish armed forces in protecting their wounded from freezing during initial treatment and evacuation. Paper proved to be good protection against wind and cold, it was inexpensive, fairly strong, and it could be used repeatedly. The film consists of footage of troops dressed in white cold-weather gear fighting in snow-covered terrain and of corpsmen caring for the wounded and demonstrating the uses of paper products. Evacuation sleds with sides made partially of cardboard are shown. Corpsmen drive the horse-drawn sleds to an area just behind a fighting front. From there, troops on skis pull a canoe-like sled to the front to evacuate the wounded back to the horse-drawn sleds. Two corpsmen come upon a wounded soldier. One treats his wound, the other lines the canoe-sled with kraft paper and tar paper. The wounded man is loaded onto the sled, wrapped in a blanket and further wrapped and insulated with the kraft and tar papers. One skier is attached by a harness and line to the sled, the other holds onto a strap and between them they pull the casualty rearward. From there, the man is taken away by horse-drawn sled ambulance after having one or two more blankets of crepe paper put around him. Other uses of paper are shown in footage of the following: kraft paper bags put over dressed wounds in the field; crepe paper used as a sling; corpsmen making a stretcher of craft paper, skis, and ski poles. Also shown are the exterior and interior of a medical service tent and the uses of paper in the medical service tent, including as sponges, as warming dressings over plaster casts, over dressings to prevent bleeding through and then freezing, as sleeping bag-type evacuation sacks, and in the construction of temporary stretchers and beds.

Midnight Hawks is the official aerobatic display team of the Finnish Air Force. The team consists of four air combat instructors of the Finnish Air Force Academy Fighter Squadron 41 flying BAE Systems Hawk Mk 51 advanced jet trainers. The team, established in 1997, flies several displays annually during Finnish Air Force Base Open Day events and airshows in Finland and abroad.
In this video the Midnight Hawks is seen performing their display sequence during the Malmi 80th Anniversary Air Show in August 2016 in Helsinki, Finland. First the team takes off from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to fly the sequence over the neighboring Helsinki-Malmi Airport. During the display the radio communications of the team are heard with Captain Marc Fuss, the team leader flying the Midnight Hawks jet #1 giving instructions about the upcoming maneuvers to the other pilots of the team. Also the voice of the team supervisor observing the display from Helsinki-Malmi airport, Captain Joni Kankaanpää, can be heard.
