Buckingham
Palace and the
Victoria Memorial. This principal façade of 1850 by
Edward Blore, the
East Front, was redesigned in 1913 by
Sir Aston Webb.
Queen Victoria, the first monarch to reside at
Buckingham Palace, moved
into the newly completed palace upon her accession in 1837.
Buckingham
House c.1710 as designed by

Normandy. This facade evolved into today's
Grand
Entrance on the west (inner) side of the quadrangle, with the
Green
Drawing Room above.
George IV transformed
Buckingham House into a

The State Ballroom is
the largest room at Buckingham Palace. It was added by Queen Victoria
and is used for ceremonies such as investitures and state banquets.
This picture dates from 1856. The polychrome colour scheme has been
replaced by mainly white decoration with gold details and red
upholstery. This
