In celestial mechanics, the Lagrangian points (/ləˈɡrɑːndʒiən/; also Lagrange points, L-points, or libration points) are positions in an orbital configuration of two large bodies where a small object affected only by gravity can maintain a stable position relative to the two large bodies. The Lagrange points mark positions where the combined gravitational pull of the two large masses provides precisely the centripetal force required to orbit with them. There are five such points, labeled L1 to L5, all in the orbital plane of the two large bodies. The first three are on the line connecting the two large bodies and the last two, L4 and L5, each form an equilateral triangle with the two large bodies. The two latter points are stable, which implies that objects can orbit around them in a rotating coordinate system tied to the two large bodies.
Several planets have minor planets near their L4 and L5 points (trojans) with respect to the Sun, with Jupiter in particular having more than a million of these. Artificial satellites have been placed at L1 and L2 with respect to the Sun and Earth, and Earth and the Moon for various purposes, and the Lagrangian points have been proposed for a variety of future uses in space exploration.

There are places in the Solar System where the forces of gravity balance out perfectly. Places we can use to position satellites, space telescopes and even colonies to establish our exploration of the Solar System. These are the Lagrange Points. Animation showing the Earth/Moon system and it's Lagrange points. It's not precise but it shows how these points revolve around Earth while staying fixed relative to The Moon and this was the overall goal here. Specifically, it clearly shows how the L2 point can never be seen from Earth even though it's constantly orbiting our planet - a source of confusion for many. From our perspective here on Earth the L2 point will always be behind The Moon and I hope this small animation illustrates that in a way that can be understood. More info ... Aditya L1: Budgeted at Rs 49 crore, Aditya - 1 will be the first satellite specifically designed to study the Sun's corona. The satellite will help to determine why solar flares and solar winds disturb the communication network and electronics on earth. ISRO plans to use the data from the satellite to better protect its satellites and space ware from being damaged by hot winds and flares ejected out of the corona. INTRODUCTION: ISRO initially planned to put the 200-kg satellite into an 800 km orbit in in 2012-13 to coincide with the "solar maxima". The current plan is to launch the satellite between 2017 to 2020. ISRO website suggests that current plans envisage placing the satellite in a halo orbit around L1 Lagranian point of the Sun- Earth system to facilitate continuous vie...

Lagrange Point is a Famicom game that was released in 1991 by Konami. The plot is about an mutant infestation in the space colonies in one of the Lagrange Points between the Sun and the Earth. It is up to Jean and a ragtag group of his allies to figure out who or what is behind this mutant menace. Lagrange Point is the only game to use VRC7; an expansion chip with FM sythesis. It is based upon the Yamaha YM2413, which was used in the Sega Master System in Japan. The game was a colaboration between Konami and Family Computer Magazine (Famimaga for short), a popular Japanese gaming magazine, second only to Famitsu. The game was part of the Game Koubo, launched to comemorate Famimaga's 100th issue. Game Koubo was a reader-participation feature that was kind of like the Megaman Legends 3 colla...

This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see http://tasvideos.org/1605M.html 'Lagrange Point' (ラグランジュポイント), is a very late (as in, released in 1991) Japanese-only RPG produced for the NES. This game is notable because Konami teamed up with readers of Family Computer Magazine (ファミリーコンピュータマガジン) to form a group, called 芸夢工房 (geimukoubou, art dream workshop), in order to make this game. The readers were permitted to design the characters, monsters, events, message-texts, music, the title-screen, and such. With enhanced sound for the NES due to Konami's VRC7 sound generator Integrated Circuit, the game is considered a masterpiece to many Japanese people. The story is about a pilot, Jin (also known as Gin), who is exploring a biohazard outbreak at a space colony, linked to the...
