Bryn Mawr College (/ˌbrɪnˈmɑːr/ brin-MAR; Welsh: [ˌbrɨ̞nˈmaur]) is a women's liberal arts college in Bryn Mawr, a community in Lower Merion Township, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, four miles (6.4 km) west of Philadelphia. The phrase bryn mawr means "big hill" in Welsh.

Bryn Mawr College is a private women's liberal arts college founded in 1885. The Graduate School is co-educational. It is named after the town of Bryn Mawr, in which the campus is located, which had been renamed by a representative of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Bryn Mawr was the name of an area estate granted to Rowland Ellis by William Penn in the 1680s. Ellis's former home, also called Bryn Mawr, was a house near Dolgellau, Merionnydd, Gwynedd, Wales. The College was largely founded through the bequest of Joseph W. Taylor, and its first president was James Evans Rhoads. Bryn Mawr was the first higher education institution to offer graduate degrees, including doctorates, to women. The first class included 36 undergraduate women and eight graduate students. Bryn Mawr was originally affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), but by 1893 had become non-denominational. In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked it 25th in Best Liberal Arts Colleges.

Bryn (which is Welsh for hill) is a component ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. It is part of the larger town of Ashton-in-Makerfield and is geographically indistinguishable from it, but forms a separate local council ward. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 11,662. Served by Bryn railway station, Bryn is home to the Three Sisters Recreation Area which has been created from three large spoil tips which remain from Bryn's role in Lancashire's coal mining past. The recreation area is also the site of the Three Sisters Race Circuit, which provides race driving instruction and plays host to kart racing events and motorcycle road race meetings at clubman level.
The former Bryn (or Brynne) Hall was the seat of the Gerard family beginning in the thirteenth century or earlier. It was a "safe house" for the English Roman Catholic martyr and saint Edmund Arrowsmith and his hand was reportedly preserved there after his execution. The house, dating to the fourteenth century, has now completely collapsed and remaining stones been cleared.

Jackson Browne & David Lindley Main Point, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, September 7, 1975. Very good radio broadcast. "In fact, the most memorable part of this 1975 three-hour-long gig is when Browne forgets the lyric to Late For the Sky. He stumbles, then apologises to the crowd before asking them to remind him of the words before laughing at himself good-humouredly." It’s odd that instead of being a dud track, this is the you keep returning to. The reason is simple. Late For the Sky came out in 1974 and quickly became the favourite of all Browne albums despite it not having any Hot 100 single. The title also features one of the most beautiful guitar solos in rock history with David Lindley, who’s also here on this gig. It’s good to know that singer songwriter Jackson Browne never lost h...
May Day is Bryn Mawr's most prominent tradition, and I felt like I should film some of it! Even though it was quite distressing filming while trying to celebrate, I realized that my first May Day only happens once, and that after my first year at Bryn Mawr, I would already be quite familiar with the events of future May Days! I'm glad I was able to capture these raw moments and share them as beautiful memories with all of you, Mawrtyrs or not. ^_^ Thanks for watching! Now.. back to studying for my finals TT
