Eyüp (pronounced [ˈeːyp]) is a municipality (belediye) and district of the city of Istanbul, Turkey. The district extends from the Golden Horn all the way to the shore of the Black Sea. Eyüp is also the name of a prominent neighborhood and former village in the district, located at the confluence of the Kağıthane and Alibey streams at the head of the Golden Horn. The Eyüp neighborhood is a historically important area, especially for Turkey's Muslims.
Although this area lies outside the city walls, the village pre-dated larger Istanbul since two local streams provided plenty of fresh water.[citation needed] In the Byzantine period, the village was known under the name of Kosmídion (Κοσμίδιον), and got its name from a church and later a monastery - both dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian - which were built on the steep hill behind today's Eyüp Mosque. The monastery was later fortified, and during the First Crusade it hosted the army of Godfrey of Bouillon during his sojourn in Constantinople.

Plot: In Antioch, courtyards are separated from the streets with high walls and their doors are always closed. In Antioch, every courtyard is a world in and of its own. Among its inhabitants are Turks, Arabs, Christians, Jews, Armenians, Assyrians, Greeks, Alevites, Sunni Muslims... And a different language is spoken in every courtyard. Eleni is a 27 year-old, beautiful yet rather unkempt woman of Greek origin. She has three daughters ages nine, seven and five. After her husband's death, she has been alienated by her neighbors. Men have stopped speaking with her in order to avoid gossip while the women do the same intending to keep her away from their husbands. Imprisoned in her own courtyard with her daughters, Eleni makes up excuses to go over to her neighbors' courtyards every evening for some communication... In her neighborhood, there are seven courtyards on the same street. As is the case every evening, Eleni visits seven courtyards this time in search of a piece of lemon. After a long explanation she asks for the lemon, but although there is lemon at each courtyard, nobody gives her any and slams the door in her face because every courtyard has its own calamity to deal with...

I wish there was a way that I could show you how your songs set me free
The hero of them all
You're a legend
I guess I'll never get a chance to know you
Still you're close as can be
Make the bandstand to a dreamland, Rubber Ball Man
Clapping your hands, let your feet dance, Rubber Ball Man
When you're jumping up and down, nobody's standing still
Some of us dreaming, some of us screaming
