Support BDS, and Palestine will be free!” – Angela Davis

On the occasion of Palestinian women’s celebration of 8th of March, the International Women’s Day, we the undersigned, Palestinian women organizations, centers and groups, call upon all women and feminists of the world, as well as women’s organizations and collectives, to endorse the BDS Call issued by Palestinian civil society in 2005 and join to the BDS movement to support our struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

The last week has seen continues mobilization, starting with the launch of Israeli Apartheid Week in Palestine to the continues struggle of the Palestinian teachers for their rights. Hunger striking journalist Mohammad al-Qiq has achieved a victory - on May 21st he will be released - while Israel continues waves of new arrests and the ethnic cleansing.

With a demonstration of thousands fo people in support of the BDS movement in Ramallah, on February 27th, Palestinian popular movements kicked off the Palestinian part of the International Israeli Apartheid Week. In the West Bank and Gaza, many activities are planned to happen until March 10th in Palestine. Among them, events will be happen in the cities of Bethlehem, Hébron, Ramallah and Jerusalem.

This week has seen a continuous attack on Palestinian youth, several of them have been killed. As well arrests continued and 12 year old Dima al Wawi became the youngest female Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails. Israel has continued to destroy schools and to attck Palestinian education while journalist Muhammad al Qiq resists in ongoing hunger strike.

Early in the morning of February 15, a squad of around 25 Israeli soldiers arrived in the refugee camp in Ramallah. The Israeli army did not give a reason for their raid in the camp, speaking only of "operational activity".

Last Wednesday, February 10, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) demolished a number of houses and agricultural facilities in the Jordan Valley early in the morning. The soldiers, many times accompained by settlers, alleged that the structures shouldn’t be there, since it’s a “closed military zone”.

The Israel forces destroyed today over 40 houses and structures in Tubas, a district in the Jordan Valley of the occupied West Bank. This week dozens of homes have been already destroyed in several locations in Area C, in particular in the Jordan Valley and the rampage is continuing.

Since the announcement in the media that the health of Muhammad al Qiq, a Palestinian journalist held in administrative detention since December 13 is getting critical, political parties, prisoners organizations, the Journalists Union and popular committees of the Stop the Wall Campaign came together and have organized daily protests in city centers of the West Bank and in front of Red Crescent offices.

In the latest victory at local authorities level, Avilés, located in the region of Asturias in the Spanish state, declared support to BDS (Boicott, Divestiment and Sanctions) Campaign and announced itself as an Israeli Apartheid Free Zone on January 22 of this year (1). Avilés and the other 27 Spanish cities have declared that they do not want to be accomplice to the occupation and Israeli apartheid.

After the death of two Palestians on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces imposed a partial closure on Ramallah this Monday. A military source has stated that the restriction is not because of the shootings that took place on Sunday, but due to investigations of previous cases.

December 2015. Boycott Israeli Apartheid Now!

In response to Israel’s ongoing campaign of violence and aggression, a new wave of Palestinian resistance has erupted. We, the undersigned, affirm our solidarity with this mass popular resistance, in all its creativity, vibrancy, and courage. We are inspired by the new generation of fearless Palestinian youth, marching in the footsteps of previous generations, as it asserts its right to self-determination and freedom from settler colonialism and apartheid.

In 2015 the Land Defense Coalition has been officially launched as the coordination body for some of Palestine’s largest popular movements as well as local grassroots organizations. We have already built powerful actions and popular resistance together - in order to continue in the year ahead, we need your support. Please consider contributing with a donation to our struggle in 2016.

After three weeks that the families of al Hadidiya have been sleeping out in the open, the resistance and campaigning has achieved a temporary respite: Israeli courts granted a freeze for the demolitions. Since Israeli military bulldozers entered the village on  November 25 the families have been holding out without shelter on their land. Now they have been able to erect again at least temporary tents.

After the punitive demolitions on Thursday November 25 that affected some 50 people of al Hadidiya and their livestock, until today Israel is prohibiting and destroying any shelter for people or animals. Last night, the military tore away a plastic blanket people had put over their bodies to protect them from the rain.

Following the house demolitions occurred in the village of al-Hadadiya, situated in the Jordan Valley, on the 26th November, two letters have been issued.

The letters are directed, respectively, to Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and to your local authorities in support of Palestine and Palestinian human rights.

You can find the letters attached below, help spread the news and if possible contact your local authorities to support the palestinian people against Israels' displacement policies.

The absence of authentic Palestinian national leadership is particularly acute at this time of crisis. The current youth uprising against Israel’s prolonged military occupation and denial of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) and within Israel is generally acknowledged to be largely leaderless. What role is there for political parties to contribute to the youth uprising given that they remain entrenched in the Palestinian body politic despite their splits and weaknesses? Palestinian political activists and analysts try to anser this and other questions in a project coordinated by al-Shabaka.org, the Palestinian policy network.

Thursday, at 7:30 in the morning Israeli military entered the Jordan Valley community al Hadidiya for yet another wave of demolitions. The punitive operation targeted the family of the head of the community, Abu Saqer, and was a clear retaliation for the fact that the people of al Hadidiya had started to prepare the dirt road that links the village to the world for the rainy winter months placing gravel onto it. Abu Saqer’s pregnant daughter has been attacked by the soldiers and is currently in hospital risking to loose her baby.
