The building housing the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the corner of River Road and Skip Bertman Drive (formerly South Stadium Drive). We are right next to the levee of the Mississippi River, west of the LSU football stadium. The Vet School does not have a street address.
The central part of the LSU campus is closed to public vehicular traffic from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The four sets of directions below will get you from Interstate-10, I-110, I-12, or LA 30 directly to the LSU SVM, avoiding the streets closed to outside traffic.
For the School, enter the first driveway on the right. Please park in designated Visitor parking spaces or in unmarked spaces in the large lot on the east side of the building.
For the Small Animal Clinic, the entrance is the third driveway on the right. Please use the designated parking spaces directly in front of the clinic; do not park in the parking lot on the side of the building, as that is employee parking.
If you arrive after hours, there is an intercom button outside the front door that will alert the emergency staff, who will come and open the door for you.
Immediately after crossing over the Mississippi River Bridge take Exit 155A, following signs for Nicholson go (approx. 69 ft.) take split to right then immediately take split to left for Terrace St and LSU (approx. 207ft). Turn LEFT at stop light onto Nicholson Dr. Go 1.7 miles to Skip Bertman Dr, Tiger Stadium (Football Stadium) will be on your left. Turn RIGHT onto Skip Bertman Dr and go approx. 0.5 miles. Take second Vet School driveway on the right the sign says Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Small Animal Hospital & Small Animal Emergency Clinic turn RIGHT into this driveway. Use the parking provided directly in front of the hospital.
Travel South on I110 take Exit 1A Government St; at stoplight at bottom of ramp turn RIGHT onto Government. Go to 5th stop light St Philip St turn LEFT. This turns into Nicholson Dr. Take Nicholson Dr approx. 1.7 miles to Skip Bertman Dr, Tiger Stadium (Football Stadium) will be on your left. Turn RIGHT onto Skip Bertman Dr and go approx. 0.5 miles. If traveling I-12 WEST take the merge to I-10 West. If coming from New Orleans travel on I-10 West.
Travel West on I-10 once past Dalrymple Dr stay in one of the right hand lanes so that you do not go over the Mississippi River Bridge. Follow signs for I-110 North/Downtown take Exit 1A which is Government Street. At bottom of ramp turn LEFT onto Government Street. Go to 5th stop light St Philip St turn LEFT. This turns into Nicholson Dr. Take Nicholson Dr approx. 1.7 miles to Skip Bertman Dr, Tiger Stadium (Football Stadium) will be on your left. Turn RIGHT onto Skip Bertman Dr and go approx. 0.5 miles.
