Mr. Watson shared his views on how U.S.-based multinational corporations can help expand American influence abroad and be a positive force for progress, driving economic growth and development around the world. Frank Verrastro, Senior Vice President and the James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy & Geopolitics at CSIS, will moderate. John Hamre, President, CEO, and the Pritzker Chair at CSIS, will provide welcoming remarks.
John S. Watson is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2010. Previously Watson served as vice chairman of the board from 2009 to 2010 and was responsible for business development; mergers and acquisitions; strategic planning; corporate compliance; policy, government and public affairs; procurement; and the Project Resources Company. In 2008, he was elected executive vice president for strategy and development. In 2005, Watson was elected president of Chevron International Exploration and Production Company. In 2000, he led the company's integration effort following the Chevron-Texaco merger and then became the corporation's chief financial officer. In 1998, he was elected a vice president of the corporation, with responsibility for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to being elected president of Chevron Canada Limited in 1996, he held financial, analytical and supervisory positions.

At first it looks like an epidemic of flu, but soon it appears to be something infinitely more sinister. Quickly the civil and emergency services are beyond breaking point and it emerges that the authorities are powerless to halt this disaster. When Asylum Support Unit worker Rabeena Dhondy (Robina Qureshi) arrives at Sherko and Resa's flat she finds the little girl is suffering from an extremely bad cough. At the hospital, the doctor Annie Millbrook (Morag Calder) diagnoses flu. Shortly afterwards one of the Resa's neighbours Hamez (Salah Hussein) dies from what the hospital are still calling flu. Quite naturally the asylum seekers are getting worried and a meeting is arranged with them by the hospital. Robina arrives at Sherko and Resa's block of flats to find ash swirling around like a fine snow. Robina goes straight to see Brian Cooper. Back at the hospital it looks as if Resa and a number of the other patients are feeling much better. Doctor Annie Millbrook is suspicious though...

The CSIS Energy and National Security Program is pleased to host John Watson, Chevron Chairman and CEO, to discuss recent global energy trends, including the rise of shale gas and other unconventional energy sources that are being propelled by advances in energy technology. Mr. Watson shared his views on how U.S.-based multinational corporations can help expand American influence abroad and be a positive force for progress, driving economic growth and development around the world. Frank Verrastro, Senior Vice President and the James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy & Geopolitics at CSIS, will moderate. John Hamre, President, CEO, and the Pritzker Chair at CSIS, will provide welcoming remarks.
John S. Watson is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2010. Previously Watson served as vice chairman of the board from 2009 to 2010 and was responsible for business development; mergers and acquisitions; strategic planning; corporate compliance; policy, government and public affairs; procurement; and the Project Resources Company. In 2008, he was elected executive vice president for strategy and development. In 2005, Watson was elected president of Chevron International Exploration and Production Company. In 2000, he led the company's integration effort following the Chevron-Texaco merger and then became the corporation's chief financial officer. In 1998, he was elected a vice president of the corporation, with responsibility for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to being elected president of Chevron Canada Limited in 1996, he held financial, analytical and supervisory positions.

Typically decision maker, leader, manager and executor. The communicator role can involve the press and the rest of the outside world, as well as the organization's management and employees; the decision-making role involves high-level decisions about policy and strategy. As a manager, the CEO/MD presides over the organization's day-to-day operations. According to a study by Carola Frydman of MIT, from 1936 to the early 2000s there has been a rapid increase in the share of CEOs holding an MBA; from approximately 10% of CEOs in 1960 to more than 50% by the end of the century. Earlier in the century, top executives were more likely to have technical degrees in science and engineering or law. As of 2014, there were 24 female CEOs in Fortune 500 companies, which is a record 4.8%.

The term refers to the person who takes all the decisions regarding the upliftment of the company, which includes all sectors and fields of the business like operations, marketing, business Development, finance, Human resources, etc. The CEO of a company is not necessarily the owner of the company.
Characteristics
According to a study by Carola Frydman of MIT, from 1936 to the early 2000s there has been a rapid increase in the share of CEOs holding an MBA; from approximately 10% of CEOs in 1960 to more than 50% by the end of the century. Earlier in the century, top executives were more likely to have technical degrees in science and engineering or law. As of 2014, there were 24 female CEOs in Fortune 500 companies, which is a record 4.8%.

The BCB is filing a notice of review with the ICC to appeal against Taskin Ahmed's suspension due to an illegal action, the board's chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said. The BCB's move comes a day after it lodged an appeal with the ICC; board president Nazmul Hassan spoke to ICC chairman Shashank Manohar and chief executive David Richardson.
Taskin and left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny were suspended from bowling in international cricket on March 19, after an independent assessment found their bowling actions to be illegal. The pair were reported after Bangladesh's World T20 first-round match against Netherlands on March 9.
According to Chowdhury, the board is trying to expedite the review and is exploring the scope of review in line with the regulations. This is a more "by the book" approach compared to Hassan's actions, which the BCB president said was not the usual way of appealing for such a case.
"If any player asks for such a review the ICC tries to do it within a reasonable time," Chowdhury told ESPNcricinfo. "We are in touch with the ICC regularly so that we can expedite the review. Every regulation will have argument points for both parties. Whether this player will be in a position to participate in the remaining match will depend on the outcome of the discussion."

Prior to joining BioMarin, Mr. Bienaimé served as chairman, chief executive officer, and president of Genencor, a biotechnology company focused on industrial bioproducts and targeted cancer biotherapeutics. Under his leadership, Genencor's revenues increased substantially to over $400 million and shareholder value increased dramatically, culminating in the sale of the company to Danisco in the spring of 2005 for an enterprise value of over $1.2 billion.
From 1998 to late 2002, Mr. Bienaimé served as chairman, chief executive officer and president of Sangstat Medical Corporation, an immunology-focused biotechnology company that he guided to profitability prior to its acquisition by Genzyme Corporation. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Bienaimé held several senior management positions at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Pharmaceuticals (now Sanofi-Aventis), culminating in the position of senior vice president of worldwide marketing and business development responsible for, among other things, the launch of Lovenox® (for the prevention of pulmonary embolism and treatment of unstable angina) in the United States and Taxotere® (for breast and lung cancer) worldwide. Earlier in his career, he worked at Genentech, Inc. where he was involved in the launch of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) for the treatment of heart attacks.
Mr. Bienaimé is a member of the board of directors of InterMune, Inc., a member of the board of directors of Portola Pharmaceuticals Inc., and a member of the board of directors for Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).
