Hall Cherokee II
The Hall Cherokee II is an American high-wing, single seat glider that was designed by Stan Hall and introduced in 1956 as plans for amateur construction.
Due to its low cost and ease of construction, the Cherokee II is one of the most produced home-built gliders.
Design and development
The Cherokee was designed by Hall to provide homebuilders with an easy-to-construct and inexpensive aircraft that would give performance at least equal to the Schweizer SGS 1-26, which had flown two years earlier.
The Cherokee structure is built from wood and covered in doped aircraft fabric covering. The fuselage features truss construction, with longerons and gussets and a fixed monowheel landing gear. The wing has two spars, with geodetic braces handling the torsion loads and is built with a fixed center section and removable outer wing panels. The wings have spoilers on the top surfaces and use a Gö 549 airfoil.
As with all plans-built aircraft, builders have made modifications to the design. Some examples have been built with leading edges made from aluminium, cardboard, glass reinforced plastic and plywood and with many different styles of canopy.

Hall
In architecture, a hall is a relatively large space enclosed by a roof and walls. In the Iron Age, a mead hall was such a simple building and was the residence of a lord and his retainers. Later, rooms were partitioned from it, and the space next to the front door became the entrance hall. Today, the (entrance) hall of a house is the space next to the front door or vestibule leading to the rooms directly and/or indirectly. Where the hall inside the front door of a house is elongated, it may be called a passage, corridor (from Spanish corredor used in El Escorial and 100 years later in Castle Howard) or hallway.
Other meanings
The term hall is often used to designate a British or Irish country house such as a hall house, or specifically a Wealden hall house, and manor houses.
In later medieval Europe, the main room of a castle or manor house was the great hall. In a medieval building, the hall was where the fire was kept. With time, its functions as dormitory, kitchen, parlour and so on were divided off to separate rooms or, in the case of the kitchen, a separate building.

Cherokee
The Cherokee (/ˈtʃɛrəkiː/; Cherokee Ani-Yunwiya (ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯ) are a Native American tribe indigenous to the Southeastern United States (principally Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina). They speak Cherokee, an Iroquoian language. In the 19th century, historians and ethnographers recorded their oral tradition that told of the tribe having migrated south in ancient times from the Great Lakes region, where other Iroquoian-speaking peoples were.
By the 19th century, European settlers in the United States called the Cherokee one of the "Five Civilized Tribes", because they had adopted numerous cultural and technological practices of the European American settlers. The Cherokee were one of the first, if not the first, major non-European ethnic group to become U.S. citizens. Article 8 in the 1817 treaty with the Cherokee stated Cherokees may wish to become citizens of the United States. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the Cherokee Nation has more than 314,000 members, the largest of the 566 federally recognized Native American tribes in the United States. In addition, numerous groups claiming Cherokee lineage, some of which are state-recognized, have members who are among those 819,000-plus people claiming Cherokee ancestry on the US census.

The HobbyKing Hall Cherokee Glider is designed to be a tow glider but also comes with an EDF that is optionally mounted to the top of the RC to provide itself with thrust and flight on days that you are flying solo and don't have anyone to pull you into the sky. Because we are trying to get some decent shots with the camera, today is one of those days and we'll be flying with the mounted power source up top. Everything seemed to have went very smoothly until the throttle started acting up. As it turns out, Nate was just pushing the glider a little too hard to do the stunts that he performed and the unit was most likely over heating. We now recommend only flying full throttle for no more than about 30 seconds at a time to allow the ESC to cool off before blasting it again. If flies really well right out of the box with little to no trimming needed and can be in the air faster than you can charge your batteries! The HobbyKing Hall Cherokee Glider is designed to be a tow glider but also comes with an EDF that is optionally mounted to the top of the RC to provide itself with thrust and flight on days that you are flying solo and don't have anyone to pull you into the sky. Because we are trying to get some decent shots with the camera, today is one of those days and we'll be flying with the mounted power source up top.
Everything seemed to have went very smoothly until the throttle started acting up. As it turns out, Nate was just pushing the glider a little too hard to do the stunts that he performed and the unit was most likely over heating. We now recommend only flying full throttle for no more than about 30 seconds at a time to allow the ESC to cool off before blasting it again. If flies really well right out of the box with little to no trimming needed and can be in the air faster than you can charge your batteries!

We are pleased to finally release this video from the second styled shoot we participated in. Although it happened a week ago, it feels like only yesterday we were there filming!!
Thank you to Lindsay Vaughn, the owner of Inspiration Photography by Linds, for having us as videographers. Lindsay put all the elements of this shoot together so nicely! She incorporated a Bohemian theme, a shabby chic theme, plus an engaged couple to the mix.
Not only that, but we discovered an amazing new location: Cherokee Bluffs Park, located in Hally County. This park is sort of a hidden gem in our opinion. And, we must admit, we liked it well enough to bring the dogs back later for a good bout of unleashed fun!
It was a pleasure meeting so many wonderful photographers, as well as the other dedicated vendors who all made their unique contributions to this shoot (please see vendor list below).

This collection of solo flute pieces from Navajo-Ute musician R. Carlos Nakai is an evocative delight. April 20th, 2016 the Cherokee County Republican Party held a debate with all four candidates for office. In 2017 it is guaranteed that Cherokee County will have a new Sheriff for the first time in over 24 years as Roger Garrison will be retiring. This is the fourth debate of which I am aware of between all four candidates. I have been shocked to see no video of these debates floating around on the internet to help educate the voters of Cherokee County. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a United States National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site that straddles the ridgeline of the Great Smoky Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are a division of the larger Appalachian Mountain chain. The most well-preserved of these (and most popular) is Cades Cove, a valley with a number of preserved historic buildings including log cabins, barns, and churches. Cades Cove is the single most frequented destination in the national park. The album consists of mostly original material, from the composition "Canyon Reverie," to the improvisational "In Media Res," to "Athabascan Song," an arrangement of a traditional song. The latter in particular stands out, with a faster rhythm and more lilting melody than most of the other pieces. There's also "Ancient Dreams," performed on a bone whistle; the instrument almost exceeds the upper range of human hearing, and Nakai occasionally sounds like he's imitating birdcalls. A classically trained musician, Nakai blends musical traditions to create a whole that reminds one, on occasion, of Japanese shakuhachi music.
This album best captures the timeless serenity of the solo Native American flute. R. Carlos Nakai's music speaks to the spirit with a simplicity that transcends place and time. Includes original compositions, traditional Athabascan and Omaha melodies.

Ray Carlos Nakai (a.k.a. R Carlos Nakai ) was born in Flagstaff Arizona on April 16, 1946 and now resides in Tucson, Arizona. He is a Native American of Navajo-Ute heritage who began his musical career as a freshman at Northern Arizona University studying brass instruments and playing in the NAU marching band. In his sophomore year he enlisted in the US Navy with the hope of eventually playing in the Armed Forces Band. He passed the highly competitive auditions for the Armed Forces School of Music and was 28th on the waiting list for admission. Playing with the Armed Forces Band became impossible, however, because an auto accident damaged his mouth making it impossible to produce the correct embouchure to continue playing brass instruments. Shortly after this accident, he was presented with a gift of a traditional Native American cedar flute and challenged to master it.
Nakai says that most of his inspiration comes from the expressions of native communities and his desire to preserve his own Native American heritage. In addition, he likes to blend his native music with that of other cultures thereby helping to preserve their heritage as well. To that end, he has collaborated with a Japanese folk ensemble, the Philadelphia Orchestra's Israeli cellist Udi Bar-David, and many others. He has worked with American composer Philip Glass Tibetan flutist Nawang Khechog and flutist Paul Horn. A 2005 collaboration with slack key guitar master Keola Beamer fused two very different indigenous American cultural forms and resulted in the album "our Beloved Land." He has expressed his philosophy and views of Native American culture in the modern world in an interview with Native Digest.
The Library of Congress has more than 30 of his recordings preserved in the American Folklife Center.
His "Earth Spirit" and "Canyon Trilogy" albums are the only Native American albums to be certified Gold by the RIAA.
Nakai developed a system of tablature notation ( commonly known as Nakai Tablature ) that could be used across a wide variety of flute keys and tunings. He published this in The Art of the Native American Flute (1996) with James Demars, Ken Light and David P. McAllester. This provided resources and support for other musicians playing the Native American flute.
In 2005 he was inducted into the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame. He was awarded the Arizona Governor's Arts Award in 1992. He received an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University in 1994 and the NAUAA Dwight Patterson (1934) Alumnus of the Year Award in 2001. Nakai earned a Master's Degree in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona.

April 20th, 2016 the Cherokee County Republican Party held a debate with all four candidates for office. In 2017 it is guaranteed that Cherokee County will have a new Sheriff for the first time in over 24 years as Roger Garrison will be retiring.
This is the fourth debate of which I am aware of between all four candidates. I have been shocked to see no video of these debates floating around on the internet to help educate the voters of Cherokee County. I was made of aware of that evening’s debate earlier in the morning and decided to record the debate as best I could on my cell phone.
As such, I was unable to get all of the debate in its entirety. I had to stop on more than one occasion to delete photos and videos from my phone to make space and ended up having to audio record the last portion of the debate.
