The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality 
i/ˈtswɑːneɪ/ (also known as the City of Tshwane) is a metropolitan municipality that forms the local government of northern Gauteng Province, South Africa and includes the city of Pretoria.
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality was established on 5 December 2000 and, when founded, was made up of 13 former city and town councils and managed by means of an executive mayoral system.
The Metsweding District Municipality was incorporated into the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, with effect from 18 May 2011 (the date of the 2011 municipal elections). The municipality also controversially sought to incorporate Midrand, which is part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality to offset the costs of absorbing Metsweding, amid a financial crisis in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality's land area increased from 2,198 square kilometres (849 sq mi) in 2010 to 6,368 square kilometres (2,459 sq mi) after the incorporation of Metsweding.

Rebecca Malope is a South African gospel singer. She hosts the TV show "It's Gospel Time." Rebecca’s story starts in 1986. Driven by a burning desire to become South Africa’s most celebrated and admired songstress, Rebecca , then 21 years old, and her sister Cynthia, left their home township of Lekazi near Nelspruit and hiked 400 km to Evaton from where they finally reached Johannesburg. This brave step launched a personal journey of achievement that was destined to touch the hearts and minds of millions.
Rebecca has released 32 albums in a music career spanning over 27 years to date. In 2009 she released her 30th album titled My Hero containing double CDs. In April 2010 she released her 31st album. In her almost three decades career, she has proved that relevance and resounding with your fans is a great recipe for success.On Monday 14th March,Rebecca Malope released her 32nd album titled "Ukuthula",which translates to English as Peace.Rebecca was quoted in a local newspaper saying “In Ukuthula people must expect rejuvenating sounds and I love the whole album. I decided on that name after thinking about the state the world is in today

Tshwane delays dodgy R4.65 billion broadband deal after DA reveals scandalous details.
Moments after I briefed the media this morning on the attempt by Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, to force through Council a dodgy broadband deal, without disclosing that National Treasury had raised major objections to the legality of the contract, the City released a statement withdrawing the tabling of the contract, at tomorrow’s council sitting.
This is an admission by Mayor Ramokgopa, and the City of Tshwane, that the concerns raised by the DA this morning are legitimate and fatal to the ANC attempts to force this contract through. Mayor Ramokgopa has buckled to the DA’s pressure on this matter.
It was no mistake that Councillors had not been informed of any of the serious objections to the contract, from National Treasury, Gauteng Provincial Treasury and the National Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services.
This latest summersault by the Mayor and his administration is a vindication of the DA’s pursuit to ensure that proper tender processes, procedures and regulations are followed by the City of Tshwane.
The DA is committed and will continue to advocate for the fair allocations of public money, to benefit all people in Tshwane and we will not allow dodgy deals to be railroaded through Council.

Located on a hill is the Voortrekker Monument that is a reminder of the Boers' Great Trek and in 1830, the crucial battle in which they defeated the Zulus.

The Rietvlei Nature Reserve is located in Pretoria and is about 3,800 hectares (38 km2)[1] in size. Located within the reserve is the Rietvlei Dam.
The Rietvlei Nature Reserve surrounds and include the Rietvlei dam and is situated south east of Pretoria, in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, between the R21 highway (OR Tambo Airport highway) on the western side and the R50 (Delmas / Babsfontein) road on the north-east (Figure 2.2). The site lies in the quarter degree grid square 2528CD (Rietvlei Dam), between 25º50’S and 25º56’S latitude and 28º15'E and 28º19'E longitude. The mean elevation above sea level is approximately 1 525 meters, with the highest point at 1 542 m and the lowest point at 1 473 m (at the dam’s outflow). The reserve covers a surface area of approximately 3 870 ha or 38 km² and a network of roads cross the entire area, which makes the reserve accessible to visitors and management.

There are an estimated 319 species of birds that make use of the reserve, of which 272 species have been confirmed.[3]
Mammals[edit]
The reserve carries around 1600 individual mammals. Blesbuck, Black wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Eland, Common zebra, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Springbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Steenbok, Grey Duiker, Oribi, Leopard, Buffalo, White Rhino, and Hippopotamus can all be found in the reserve.[2][4] Currently there are also 4 lionesses and a lion kept in a separate enclosure on the reserve.

Threats to the reserve[edit]
The reserve is situated in Gauteng, one of the highest population density areas in South Africa. As such it is constantly under threat by human expansion and development.

Pretoria has over the years had very diverse cultural influences and this is reflected in the architectural styles that can be found in the city. Port Elizabeth is known commonly as the watersports capital of South Africa and home of Ironman Africa. Algoa bay is home to scuba diving, game fishing charters, surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding to name but a few. There are many cruises offered from the harbour from sunset cruises to view dolphins to whale watching tours.
Port Elizabeth is also a great destination for whale watching with humpback whales sighted between June and August, and again between November and January, Southern right whales sighted between July and November, and Bryde's whales sighted all year round. Boat-based whale watching trips are run out of the Port Elizabeth harbour where guests are allowed close encounters with these majestic creatures, among other marine animals.

Tambo International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Africa and a gateway for international air travel to and from the rest of Southern Africa. More recently Lanseria International Airport has started international flights, and is situated conveniently on the opposite side of the metropolis.
According to the 2007 Community Survey, the population of the City of Johannesburg was 4,434,827 and the population of the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Area was 7,151,447. A broader definition of the Johannesburg metropolitan area, including Ekurhuleni, the West Rand, Soweto and Lenasia, has a population of 10,267,700.The municipal city's land area of 1,645 km2 (635 sq mi) is very large when compared to other cities, resulting in a moderate population density of 2,364 /km2 (6,120 /sq mi).
Johannesburg includes Soweto, which was a separate city from the late 1970s until the 1990s. Originally an acronym for "South-Western Townships", Soweto originated as a collection of settlements on the outskirts of Johannesburg populated mostly by native African workers in the gold mining industry. This is similar to water temperatures in much of the Northern Mediterranean (for example Nice). In summer, False Bay water averages slightly over 20 °C (68 °F), with 22 °C (72 °F) a common high. Beaches located on the Atlantic Coast tend to have very cold water due to the Benguela current which originates from the Southern Ocean, whilst the water at False Bay beaches may be warmer by up to 10 °C (18 °F) at the same moment due to the influence of the warm Agulhas current, and the surface warming effects of the South Easter wind.
Both coasts are equally popular, although the beaches in affluent Clifton and elsewhere on the Atlantic Coast are better developed with restaurants and cafés, with a particularly vibrant strip of restaurants and bars accessible to the beach at Camps Bay. Boulders Beach near Simon's Town is known for its colony of African Penguins.Surfing is popular and the city hosts the Red Bull Big Wave Africa surfing competition every year.
