Tonight’s show starts as a reunion of ex-lovers ... Jim is very suspicious of her ... Jim’s plan is to interrogate hit men until he finds a contractor named ‘The Lady.’ Bullock tells him he should come back to GCPD but Jim wants to go rogue for a while and do this his way ... They flee Pinewood when the men chase after them and are quickly surrounded by GCPD outside. Jim arrives at GCPD around the time Alfred and Bruce are being released ... ....

I was waiting a long time for one little exchange between the current versions of Batman and Jim Gordon, because Gotham City’s top police officer gets to show that he’s not a complete idiot ... To John or Jill Q ... Once Gordon puts that Bat-signal on the roof of the GCPD headquarters, Batman should ostensibly feel comfortable letting him in on the fact that he’s Thomas and Martha Wayne’s son ... ....

After spending most of Season 1 as the GCPD’s cornball brainiac who couldn’t deadpan his way out of wet paper handcuffs, Edward Nygma started to really come into his own in Season 2, serving as exemplary proof of the season’s “Rise/Wrath of the Villains” tags ... This inevitably led to Ed getting fooled and arrested, which probably won’t look too good to every other GCPD employee he ever worked with....

Gotham has covered origin stories for plenty of Batman villains so far, but one that has been particularly drawn-out is Ed Nygma as the future Riddler ... But I like this color of the Riddler ... He pulled one over on viewers as well as Gordon and the GCPD ... Nygma has always lashed out when he’s felt his talents aren’t properly appreciated; surely the Riddler’s complex schemes thwarting the GCPD in a big way will make him want to claim credit....
