The Dark Knight is a 2008 superhero film directed, produced and co-written by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part of Nolan's Batman film series and a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. Christian Bale reprises the lead role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with a returning cast of Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as James Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. The film introduces the character of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Gotham's newly elected District Attorney and the cohort of Bruce Wayne's childhood friend Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who joins Batman and the police in combating the new rising threat of a criminal calling himself the "Joker" (Heath Ledger).
Nolan's inspiration for the film was the Joker's comic book debut in 1940, and the 1996 series The Long Halloween, which retold Two-Face's origin. In addition elements of Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers' Dark Detective miniseries as well as the unpublished follow-up were reportedly cannibalised along with other elements of Batman mythology for the story.The Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago, as well as in several other locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. Nolan used an IMAX camera to film some sequences, including the Joker's first appearance in the film. On January 22, 2008, some months after he had completed filming on The Dark Knight and six months before the film's release, Heath Ledger died from a toxic combination of prescription drugs, leading to intense attention from the press and movie-going public. Warner Bros. had initially created a viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, developing promotional websites and trailers highlighting screen shots of Ledger as the Joker, but after Ledger's death, the studio refocused its promotional campaign.

Failing a game led to the contestant(s) being dropped down the laundry chute to the basement, where the remaining contestants had to get them out before they could continue their 'quest' or being gunged from the magic stick 'o gunge! Games included amongst others, the Victorian Headmaster, a ghost who conducted a 19th Century class, with questions where the contestants give the answer to the question before. Also, a chess-like game of cat and mouse against the 'Dark Knight' and another where contestants were 'shrunk' and put in a giant kitchen, swimming around in the soup bowl, fishing out alphabet-spaghetti letters to make words.

Batman - The Dark Knight Robbery Scene HD
The Dark Knight is a 2008 British-American superhero film directed, produced, and cowritten by Christopher Nolan. I knew that after all the pain it had inflicted on me, the only suitable punishment for it was the act continually threatened by the tagline of the show - burning. The Dark Knight Trilogy is a superhero film trilogy, based on the DC Comics character Batman. The trilogy consisted of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), & The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
Following the critical failure and box office disappointment of Batman & Robin (1997), Warner Bros. decided to reboot the film franchise. The trilogy stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as James Gordon, and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. All three films were directed, written and produced by Christopher Nolan.
Each film in the series was a box office success, in particular the second and third films, which both earned over $1 billion worldwide. As well being considered a massive improvement over the previous series of Batman films, the trilogy has received near-universal acclaim from critics and audiences, being praised for Nolan's direction, the performances of the main cast, its thematic storytelling and depth, being more grounded in reality and darker in tone, breaking certain superhero clichés, its reinvention of the source material, focusing on Bruce Wayne as the central character, its major use of practical effects over computer generated imagery, and for being a complete story-arc. ARK is a huge game, in terms of geographical space, scope of content, features, technology, and just about every other metric. We're a veteran team with some major hits behind our leads, and much of the core challenge is already met, but this is still an ambitious one for us. We want the player community's help to 'evolve' ARK into the dinosaur world game that we've been dreaming about since the days we played with plastic green T-Rex toys during elementary school recess, since we shed a tear to 'The Land Before Time', since we wistfully imagined the towering cities of 'Dinotopia', and since we nearly choked on our popcorn to the thrills of 'Jurassic Park'. We love games, and holy smokes do we ever love dinos (along with all sorts of other extinct creatures/natural sciences), and through interaction and iteration with the ARK's community, we think we have the best shot at creating the be-all, end-all long-term prehistoric universe that we want to live and thrive in. We have a great start, and with your valued input and contributions, we will take it all the way together!

ARK is a huge game, in terms of geographical space, scope of content, features, technology, and just about every other metric. We're a veteran team with some major hits behind our leads, and much of the core challenge is already met, but this is still an ambitious one for us. We want the player community's help to 'evolve' ARK into the dinosaur world game that we've been dreaming about since the days we played with plastic green T-Rex toys during elementary school recess, since we shed a tear to 'The Land Before Time', since we wistfully imagined the towering cities of 'Dinotopia', and since we nearly choked on our popcorn to the thrills of 'Jurassic Park'. We love games, and holy smokes do we ever love dinos (along with all sorts of other extinct creatures/natural sciences), and through interaction and iteration with the ARK's community, we think we have the best shot at creating the be-all, end-all long-term prehistoric universe that we want to live and thrive in. We have a great start, and with your valued input and contributions, we will take it all the way together!

RUMINATIONS: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, from beginning to end, was an awful book and I was glad to be rid of it. I knew that after all the pain it had inflicted on me, the only suitable punishment for it was the act continually threatened by the tagline of the show - burning. I know the act is somewhat controversial because of, well, censorship and everything, but I maintain that I'm not advocating book burning or censorship. What I advocate is that one is allowed to do what they want with their own personal property, and in this case my property was a copy of a comic that I chose to destroy, and destroy I did.
The beginning, where I attempt to flee the review, makes reference to the crossover I did with Film Brain concerning Frank Miller's "The Spirit," which you can find here: http://atopthefourthwall.com/kickassia-part-6-double-feature-conclusion/
Not much else to say after three issues of this awful, awful comic. It was pretty much the sign to everyone that Frank Miller's once lauded creative genius was slipping, or at least he couldn't stop writing Sin City after he had begun. There are still huge holes missing in the comic: why is Robin now Catgirl? Why is Batman willing to let others kill now? Why is Dick Grayson now a murderous psychopath with shapeshifting powers? And the attempt to tie it into All-Star Batman and Robin hardly makes any sense, since the heroes shown there, and even the Dick Grayson shown there, is a completely different sort of character. But whatever, in the end, it was just a horrible sequel to a great work and we can put it behind us and focus on all the other horrible things Frank Miller created.
