The title track from 'Minstrel In The Gallery' performed live in Paris, 1975.
This video is available as part of the 40th anniversary edition of 'Minstrel In The Gallery'. For this edition the album has been expanded to include the b-side Summerday Sands, several studio outtakes, and alternate session material recorded for a BBC broadcast.
The second disc features a live recording of Jethro Tull performing at the Olympia in Paris on July 5, 1975, a few months prior to the release of Minstrel In The Gallery. During the show, the band played songs from several of its albums, including War Child and Aqualung, as well as an early performance of Minstrel In The Gallery. Mixed to 5.1 & stereo.
Highlights from the set include:
* Original album plus seven bonus tracks (six previously unreleased), two mixed to 5.1 surround, and all to stereo by Steven Wilson
* Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24 plus additional track Summerday Sands
* Flat transfer of the original quad mix of the LP plus additional track Summerday Sands
* An eight and a half minute film of the band performing Minstrel In The Gallery in Paris from 1975
* Presented in a case-bound DVD book that includes an 80-page booklet featuring an extensive history of the album, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, recollections by roadie Kenny Wylie, Maison Rouge maintenance engineer Pete Smith, and string section member Liz Edwards plus lyrics, tour itinerary and rare and unseen photographs.

"Slow Marching Band" was released in the spring of 1982 on Jethro Tull's 14th studio album, The Broadsword and the Beast. This is one of Ian's favorite Tull albums and mine too!
The Broadsword and the Beast was the last in the string of 7 albums (starting with Minstrel in the Gallery) that were released in the 7 years between 1975 and 1982 which make up the Jethro Tull albums that I've always been most fond of.
I always thought "Slow Marching Band" was such a beautiful and sad song. Thanks as always for checking out the videos....I hope you enjoy it.

This is a run on Expert Guitar to allow other to see the charting of this awesome RB2 on-disc song. This is my best run to date, but I still haven't achieved the FC. I usually break my streak once or twice during the "fast part," and if I somehow make it through that without missing a note, then I'll invariably miss a note in the relatively tricky solo. This song is definitely one of my favorites on guitar, however.

I'm using a Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR to capture at 1280x720, and saving the video with 6 Mbps bitrate in MP4 format.

Ian Scott Anderson, MBE (born 10 August 1947) is a Scottish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work as the leader and flautist of British rock band Jethro Tull.
Ian Anderson was born the youngest of three children. His father, James Anderson, ran the RSA Boiler Fluid Company in East Port, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Anderson spent the first part of his childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was influenced by his father's big band and jazz records and the emergence of rock music, though disenchanted with the "show biz" style of early American rock and roll stars like Elvis Presley.
His family moved to Blackpool, Lancashire in 1959, where he gained a traditional education at Blackpool Grammar School. In a recent interview, Anderson stated that he was asked to leave Grammar School for refusing to submit to corporal punishment (still permitted at that time) for some serious infraction. He went on to study fine art at Blackpool College of Art from 1964 to 1966.
While a teenager, Anderson took a job as a sales assistant at Lewis' department store in Blackpool, then as a vendor on a newsstand. He later said it was reading copies of Melody Maker and the New Musical Express during his lunch breaks that gave him the inspiration to play in a band.

"Slow Marching Band" was released in the spring of 1982 on Jethro Tull's 14th studio album, The Broadsword and the Beast. This is one of Ian's favorite Tull albums and mine too! The Broadsword and the Beast was the last in the string of 7 albums (starting with Minstrel in the Gallery) that were released in the 7 years between 1975 and 1982 which make up the Jethro Tull albums that I've always been most fond of. The Broadsword and the Beast was the last in the string of 7 albums (starting with Minstrel in the Gallery) that were released in the 7 years between 1975 and 1982 which make up the Jethro Tull albums that I've always been most fond of.
I always thought "Slow Marching Band" was such a beautiful and sad song. Thanks as always for checking out the videos....I hope you enjoy it.

I usually break my streak once or twice during the "fast part," and if I somehow make it through that without missing a note, then I'll invariably miss a note in the relatively tricky solo. This song is definitely one of my favorites on guitar, however.

The video features the performance filmed from 5 different cameras, 2 of which were attached to instruments on the field, and a professionally recorded and studio mastered audio track by former Pride of Arizona drumline member Joe Gallegos, who works at a local recording studio in Tucson. Kirk Sibley manned the field level camera and was also the lead of the production effort, including placement of the two remote cams. Aaron Holbrook provided the filming from the top of the Zona Zoo at the judges stand level. All the cuts were edited into this final video, and merged with the separately recorded audio track, by Kirk Sibley.

When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame decided to induct the “Saturday in the Park” band, I and some 37 million other fans breathed a collective “Finally!” ... Enter Chicago. pop-rock with horns. Sure, Jethro Tull had a flute, but these guys had one too — plus percussion, keyboards, trumpet and trombone. And they were bluesy ... Student musicians loved them ... “ ‘25 or 6 to 4’ — WTF?” ... ....
