Dumai
Dumai is a city in Riau province on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The city has an area of 2,039.35 km² and had 293,355 inhabitants in 2012. Dumai has a National Airport, that is Pinang Kampai Airport. Dumai is an important transport and trade centre, both regionally and internationally, especially to Malaysia. Dumai is rich in oil (fuel and palm oil).
History
Dumai is a city in Riau province, Indonesia, about 188 km from Pekanbaru. Currently Dumai City is the second largest city in the province of Riau, but earlier it was a small hamlet on the east coast of Riau Province. It was inaugurated as a city on 20 April 1999, by Law no. 16 of year 1999, having previously had a town administrative (kotif) in Bengkalis Regency. At its inception, the City only consisted of 3 districts, 13 villages and 9 villages with a population of just 15,699 souls with density 83.85/km2.

Perjuangan ini sejak 1998-1999 dan masih dilakukannya sampai sekarang.
Terdapat 24 spesies mangrove di kawasan hutan bandar bakau ini, salah satunya adalah bakau istimewa yang saat ini diperjuangkan untuk dilestarikan kembali oleh Darwis dkk yaitu belukap.
Belukap (rhizophora mucronata) merupakan salah satu jenis bakau yang mengalami kepunahan di sungai Dumai. Kepunahan ini akibat ekploitasi bakau sebagai bahan baku arang dulunya, dimana panglong (tempat produksi arang) terdapat di Pangkalan Bunting di muara Sungai Dumai. Kegiatan ini salah satu contoh memperlakukan alam tanpa memikirkan generasi ke depan, tebang tanpa ada aksi penanaman kembali, akibatnya telah terjadi kepunahan jenis bakau ini di sungai Dumai bahkan generasi Dumai saat ini sudah tak mengenalinya lagi.
Kegiatan yang ada di hutan Bandar Bakau ini adalah :
- Bank Mangroove (pusat budidaya pembibitan dan penanaman mangroove)
- Sekolah alam Bandar Bakau
- Pembersihan sungai dan pantai
- Pusat informasi mangroove
- Explorasi potensi wisata Bandar Bakau.
Harapan kita semua untuk hutan bandar bakau ini kepada semua pihak baik pemerintah, swasta dan masyarakat adalah mari sama-sama kita dukung dan lestarikan hutan ini agar menjadi Hutan Kota Dumai serta melestarikan hutan-hutan lainnya agar Indonesia kita tercinta menjadi tempat yang lebih baik untuk anak cucu kita kelak. The team consists of Indonesian correspondent Wahyudi Soeriaatmadja, correspondent Joyce Lim and executive photojournalist Aziz Hussin.
Many of the hot spots seen in satellite images daily are located in the Dumai district. On the morning of Friday, June 21, 2013, they interviewed Mr Khairul Anwar, the Mayor of Dumai.
Reporter Wahyudi asked if land squatters just came in to occupy the land.
Mayor: Yes, they just came in.
Reporter: Is it difficult to enforce law on them?
Mayor: We have vast area of land and our resources are limited. We want the central government to get involved in this, investigate everyone.
Mayor then says that PSI in Dumai has hit 492 on Friday morning.

Kepala Kantor Perpustakaan Arsip dan Data Eletronik Pemerintah Kota Dumai, Zakaria mengatakan, pihaknya ingin mengetahui sejauh mana fungsi dari Data Center yang ada di DKI Jakarta. Menurutnya, saat ini Kota Dumai telah memiliki Data Center yang baru saja diluncurkan, namun belum berfungsi secara maksimal. Melalui studi banding di Dinas Komunikasi, Informatika dan Kehumasan Provinsi DKI Jakarta, diharapkan ada konsep yang bisa diimplementasikan di Kota Dumai.
Lebih lanjut, Zakaria menambahkan, dari hasil tinjauan ini pihaknya bisa banyak mendapat pembelajaran terkait sistem yang berfungsi untuk melayani masyarakat maupun mempermudah kinerja dan pemantauan aparatur Pemprov DKI Jakarta. Selain itu, banyak contoh yang bisa diterapkan di Kota Dumai seperti distribusi pajak kendaraan. Termasuk hosting dari SKPD seperti dari kepegawaian, keuangan dan yang lainnya.

Think & Eat Green @ School builds healthy and sustainable school food systems by facilitating a community of learners in action research. The project enables students, teachers, and policy makers to influence how their food is produced and where it comes from, through concrete school projects in areas of:
- Food production at school (i.e. food gardens, composting and environmentally sound and productive disposal of end products);
- Food consumption, preparation and procurement at school (i.e. school food programs, cooking skills, and eating spaces, farm‐to‐school programs for fresh local food);
- Creating and disseminating learning innovations which aim to integrate learning about the whole cycle of food systems, from production, processing, transportation, distribution, consumption, and disposal of end food products (i.e. composting and recycling vs. “waste”) and impacts of health and environment;
- Researching and developing policy and programs to support more healthy and sustainable food systems at school.
