Marblehead may refer to:
World of Warships is a naval action-themed massively multiplayer online game produced by international game developer and publisher Wargaming headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus. The game features aspects similar to World of Tanks and World of Warplanes, having several types of military ships fulfilling different roles within teamed player versus player battles. It was released for Microsoft Windows on September 17, 2015.
The gameplay is team-based. There are four different classes of vessels, namely destroyers, cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers; these vessels span across ten tiers within the technology trees of several nations, including the United States Navy, the Imperial Japanese Navy, Kriegsmarine, Royal Navy, Soviet Navy, the Polish Navy, the Republic of China Navy, and the People's Liberation Army Navy. It is anticipated that the Marine nationale and the Regia Marina may also be featured at a later date. Players earn experience points and in-game currency by participating in battles, for the purpose of purchasing vessel upgrades and higher-tier vessels. Available ships include both historical and blueprint prototype vessels. Submarines and torpedo boats will not be present in World of Warships.
Marblehead is a coastal New England town located in Essex County, Massachusetts. Its population was 19,808 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, Crocker Park, the Marblehead Lighthouse and Devereux Beach. Archibald Willard's famous painting The Spirit Of '76 currently resides in Abbot Hall. A town with roots in both commercial fishing and yachting, Marblehead is the birthplace of the American Navy and Marine Corps Aviation and a popular yachting destination.
Marblehead was first settled by Joseph Doliber in 1629 on the shore near the end of what is now Bradlee Road. Mayflower Pilgrim Isaac Allerton came approximately three years earlier, establishing a fishing village about mid-Marblehead Harbor on the town side, across from Marblehead Neck, then set off and incorporated in 1649. Originally called Massebequash after the river which ran between it and Salem, the land was inhabited by the Naumkeag tribe of Indians under the sachem Nanepashemet. But epidemics in 1615–1619 and 1633, believed to be smallpox, devastated the tribe. Heirs of Nanepashemet sold their 3,700 acres (15 km2) on September 16, 1684; the deed is preserved today at Abbot Hall.
Marblehead High School is a four-year high school located in Marblehead, Massachusetts, United States. The school has approximately 970 students. The current campus began construction in 2001, and opened for the 2002–2003 school year.
The school currently employs approximately 70 teachers among four core subjects (Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and the Sciences), foreign languages (Spanish, French, and Latin), as well as special education staff and tutors.
Currently, Marblehead High School has over thirty sports teams for fall, winter, and spring sports. The school mascot is the Magician. Marblehead High School athletics has had significant success in recent years, winning numerous conference and state titles in the past several years, including a state title in hockey in 2011, and their first ever state title in boys cross country in 2015.
A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
