Enact the Clean Power Plan
The political wrangling over the validity and legality of the Clean Power Plan is tiresome and postponing the inevitable. We cannot, by any measure or analysis, continue with our current energy production and consumption, especially with alternatives that are ready to go.
The U.S. pledge in the Paris climate talks in December was to cut overall greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 percent by 2025. America's commitment to this effort is critical to worldwide success. Last year was the warmest year on record - by the largest margin ever - and there is consensus in the scientific community about the seriousness of climate change and the role humans are playing.
