MONROE — A recent push is on to ask state legislators to fund the final expansion of state Route 522, a commuter highway seen as the “critical link” between U.S. 2 and King County.
Some state legislators, though, say the ball is really in the county’s court, which County Executive Dave Somers rebuked last week.
Legislators point to a failed 2007 ballot measure to create a roadway tax that was meant to help pay for the project.

Lake Tye wakeboard park set to
begin construction in March
MONROE — The wakeboard cable park at Lake Tye is scheduled to break ground March 3.

In related news, the wakeboard park’s developers paid up approximately $22,500 in past-due rent to the city, Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas announced this month.
The developers pay the city at least $1,000 a month because they are renting land at Lake Tye, which is public land, for the cable park.
H3O Development of Sammamish are calling the facility the Propullsion Cablepark Monroe.
