After the incident of four
Chinese soldiers fleeing with guns,
local authorities of the
Chinese Communist Party (
CCP) blocked all relevant information, prohibiting media coverage.
However, public appeals continued to try uncover the truth.
Many netizens paid silent tribute at the four soldiers' QQ-blogs.
Overseas media reported that one of the four, Yan Fan,
was victim to a forced home demolition,
making the statement of
CCTV host,
Bai Yansong,
"
Resist home demolitions with guns" become a reality.
On
November 9, four soldiers of unit 65331, stationed in
Jilin,
fled carrying a type-95 automatic rifle and 795 bullets.
That afternoon, the taxi they were riding in was intercepted
by ranger police at
Qingyuan County, Liaoning.
Three were shot dead at the scene and
the fourth was captured with injures.
The incident raised many doubts. Though CCP authorities
immediately blocked online information,
there were still civilians mourning the dead soldiers.
They visited the four soldiers' QQ-blogs,
left messages and paid silent tributes.
Overseas reports say among those paying tribute,
may be comrades-in-arms of the dead.
Yang Fan's QQ-blog's
album, "
The Day of My
Birthday"
records many netizens' greeting messages.
One netizen posted: "
Living in China, everything is a myth.
We ask for the truth."
Another netizen wrote: "I was a solider at military company
for guided missiles.
I believe that squad leader Yang
must have had a painful secret.
In an official announcement, Jilin police required local banks
and jewelry outlets to strengthen security and prevent the four's looting.
However, the four soldiers fled heading forward
to Yang Fan's hometown, in
Fushun.
The place they were intercepted is less than
100km
from Yang Fan's home.
Mr. Li (
Army Veteran): "The domestic official reports
said they went to rob banks.
Holding a gun to rob banks? It is too funny.
I think such an excuse is really inappropriate.
If you find another excuse, perhaps I may accept.
But definitely, I cannot accept such a reason."
Netizens revealed that Yang Fan's home suffered
forced demolition.
His family members were oppressed by local authorities,
triggering Yang's fleeing with a gun to "seek justice."
The other three accompanied him due to personal loyalty.
Mr. Cai (Former
Air Force Logistics Colonel): "You demolish
his family home while he serves in the army, defending the motherland.
You should've taken care of his family.
Instead, you forcibly
demolished his house, of course he would be angry over it!"
About one year ago, at a seminar in
Wuxi, CCTV host
Bai Yansong talked about the
U.S. gun culture, saying:
"In
China, there is no environment and condition to
allow citizens to own firearms.
If gun ownership rights are allowed in China, I believe that
forced home demolitions would become impossible."
Bai's remarks were removed by the local authorities, but
became a prophecy of a just-happened reality.
Powerapple.com comments, "Only guns can resist the
huge tidal wave of
China's forced home demolitions."
Voice of America reported about CCP, that all along.
"the
Party commands the gun," with very tight control over armed forces.
Soldiers fleeing are a rare incident, let alone with a gun. This
incident probably means big problems have occurred with CCP's control over the army.
The report also questioned that over recent years,
incidents frequently occur involving firearms. How were army firearms so easily stolen?
Mr. Cai believes that there must exist big loopholes
with firearm management in the army.
He also points out that killing the fleeing soldiers
cannot solve the problem.
Mr. Cai (Former Air Force Logistics Colonel): "Investigations
should be made to find out the officers on duty.
Killing soldiers does not work. Instead, you should
embark on solving problems by following regulations."
Netizens also raised doubts: "They are just children. Even if
they made big mistakes, they shouldn't be shot dead.
What's more, they didn't constitute a real threat and commit
a crime with the stolen gun.
Is there any real justification to shoot them dead on the spot?
Mr. Li (Army Veteran): "Individually, they overdid it.
But during the whole process, they didn't harm anyone.
Only based on the fact that the authorities shot them dead,
the authorities certainly have obligations to justify.
The four, holding a gun, hadn't done any unusual activity,
but you shot and killed them first."
Jilin public security's announcement revealed
the four soldiers' home addresses.
When reporters went there, they found that local police had
blocked their houses and taken away all the family members.
