Amos (Hebrew: עָמוֹס) may refer to:
Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos; August 22, 1963) is an American pianist, singer-songwriter and composer. Amos originally served as the lead singer of 1980s synthpop group Y Kant Tori Read, and as a solo artist was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s. She was also noteworthy early in her solo career as one of the few alternative rock performers to use a piano as her primary instrument. Some of her charting singles include "Crucify", "Silent All These Years", "God", "Cornflake Girl", "Caught a Lite Sneeze", "Professional Widow", "Spark", "1000 Oceans", and "A Sorta Fairytale", her most commercially successful single in the U.S. to date.
As of 2005, Amos had sold 12 million albums worldwide. She has been nominated for 8 Grammy Awards. Amos was also named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1996.
Amos was born in Newton, North Carolina. When she was two, her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she began to play the piano. By age five, she had begun composing instrumental pieces on piano and, while living in Rockville, Maryland, she won a full scholarship to the Preparatory Division of the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Her scholarship was discontinued at age 11 and she was asked to leave. Amos has asserted that she lost the scholarship because of her interest in rock and popular music, coupled with her dislike for reading from sheet music. In 1972, The Amos family moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, where her father, Reverend Edison Amos, became pastor of the Good Shepherd United Methodist church. At the age of 13 she began playing at gay bars and piano bars, chaperoned by her father.

Parody of "Layla" by Eric Clapton
(Amos 7:10-17)
What are you doin' here, you looney?
No-one made you prophesy
You'd better run -- you'll die unless you don't
You know you're just some foolish guy
Amos -- go back to watchin' sheep
Amos -- stop makin' prophecies
Amos -- are you gonna heed my stern advice?
So why'd you visit a foreign nation
When your own land is just due south?
Goodbye, you fool
Don't tell us what to do
Or Jeroboam will cut you down
Amos -- go back to watchin' sheep
Amos -- and sycamore-fig trees
Amos -- are you gonna heed my stern advice?
We're a successful civilization
And our economy's goin' great
So please don't say
Another word today
About our moral lapse and faith
REPEAT FIRST CHORUS
Amos 7:12-13
There is a great gain in godliness
With contentment
For we brought nothing into this world
And we cannot take anything
Out of this world
But with we have food and clothing
With these we shall be content
But those who desire to be rich fall
Into temptation
Into a snare
Into many senseless and hurtful desires
That plunge men into ruin and destruction
Into many senseless and hurtful desires
For the love of money is the root of all evils
It's through this craving
That some have
Wandered away
From the faith and pierced their hearts
With many pangs
I walk in the streets
I see faces and hear voices
Confused eyes
People get rich
People ask for food
Drinks and drugs
Addictions, images and crosses
Religions
Hunger... Fear... Injustice
In a stranger land
I'm walking
In a stranger land
Just for a while
To sleep
Without the fear to dream
TO dream about you, my friend
To try
To forget the past
Dark past for me, for you
The time
Will soon erase my pain
The pain of the sudden loss
But you will always be
In my memories in my heart
I remember your eyes
Looking to this word with love
I remember your face
Cheerful and hopeful
I miss you...
I miss you, my friend...
I hope to see you soon
Soon we will be together again
In the storm
Fear in the hearts
Darkness around
Furious sea
Lightning and thunder
Strong winds blowing
From the little boat
A voice lifts up
All authority and dominion
Nature and it's creator
The heavens open up
The wind and sea quiet down
Rays of sunshine
Powerful voice that rules over
All things...
You remember
The man who died on the cross
You remember
He rose from the dead
You remember
The promise you made to him
Don't close your eyes to the truth
Don't try not to understand
Jesus Christ will return
To raise his followers
Justify out the man
Heaven is a reality
Don't close your eyes
In the color of the night
Depressed souls wandering
In the shadows of a graveyard
Under the light of the moon
Sad eyes searching
Cold white skin
Anguished by the void
Walk... .Always... Walk... Always
Walking to a farway place
Steps to a farway place
For a meaning...
For a meaning...
Searching for a meaning...
Always...
In a bad land
Thirsty for water
Ruled by thorns and weeds
Hard like stone
Dry like a desert
Brought by the wind
A little seed germinates
The beautiful flower of blood
It was born
Destroying all evil
Creating life
Giving fruit
The wind of the spirit
Holy Spirit
The seed of love
Was born in my heart
The beautiful flower of blood
