Paul Hamlyn Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation, with a mission to help people overcome disadvantage and lack of opportunity, so that they can realise their potential and enjoy fulfilling and creative lives. The Foundation supports charitable activity in the areas of arts, education and learning and social justice across the UK.

This in an exciting time to join the Foundation as we launched our new strategy in June and with an increased grants budget to manage. Our communications and influencing work will be of growing importance in securing impact in our priority areas.

We are recruiting for a Research and Policy Officer

You will help us to deliver a coordinated and proactive approach to the development of policy in our key areas of strategic interest, and offer evidence-based advice to the Senior Management Team and Trustees. We would expect you to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to help build a sustainable and highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful funder, achieving real impact with our grants and through our grantees. Your policy/research experience and analytical skills will be critical and you will have the flexibility and willingness to work on special projects and pilots as and when necessary.

You will have experience of multi-disciplinary policy or strategy development, ideally within a funding environment and be comfortable in giving advice to and building effective working relationships to managers and/or trustees. We would expect you to have knowledge and capacity to be a reliable and effective point of reference on complex issues in one or more of the Foundation’s subject areas and the ability quickly develop an understanding of current and emerging themes in other areas. The ideal candidate will be articulate, with excellent written and oral skills, and the ability to communicate with a range of audiences.

This is a fixed term one year appointment.
