Marvel Studios unleashes the next global phenomenon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- MARVEL'S AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Good intentions wreak havoc when Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) unwittingly creates Ultron (James Spader), a terrifying A.I. monster who vows to achieve "world peace" via mass extinction. Now Iron Man, Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) -- alongside Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) -- must reassemble to defeat Ultron and save mankind...if they can! This action-packed adventure is a mind-blowing blast!
Wounded, captured and forced to build a weapon by his enemies, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark instead created an advanced suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. Now with a new outlook on life, Tony uses his money and intelligence to make the world a safer, better place as Iron Man.
Captain America
Vowing to serve his country any way he could, young Steve Rogers took the super soldier serum to become America's one-man army. Fighting for the red, white and blue for over 60 years, Captain America is the living, breathing symbol of freedom and liberty.
Hulk
Caught in a gamma bomb explosion while trying to save the life of a teenager, Dr. Bruce Banner was transformed into the incredibly powerful creature called the Hulk. An all too often misunderstood hero, the angrier the Hulk gets, the stronger the Hulk gets.
Thor
As the Norse God of thunder and lightning, Thor wields one of the greatest weapons ever made, the enchanted hammer Mjolnir. While others have described Thor as an over-muscled, oafish imbecile, he's quite smart and compassionate. He's self-assured, and he would never, ever stop fighting for a worthwhile cause.
Black Widow
Natasha Romanova, known by many aliases, is an expert spy, athlete, and assassin. Trained at a young age by the KGB's infamous Red Room Academy, the Black Widow was formerly an enemy to the Avengers. She later became their ally after breaking out of the U.S.S.R.'s grasp, and also serves as a top S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
Ultron
Created by Tony Stark, Ultron is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity.
Avengers: Age of Ultron was an excellent movie. I would absolutely recommend taking the time to see it, especially if you happen to be a fan of the Marvel movies that have been released to date. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews, the complaints mostly focusing on the fact that there was a lot of story and a great deal of activity shoved into a package that was just shy of two and a half hours. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of my life reading comic books, but I didn't feel at all like the narrative was rushed or unevenly paced at all. Personally I felt that there was a terrific balance between well choreographed action and well-written character development...though I might have liked to see a little bit more of the story dedicated to The Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver depending on how it was managed. The introduction of those three characters was fantastic though, and I thoroughly loved the change in dynamics that they forced upon the existing Avengers. One of the other negative things that I saw frequently expressed was disdain for the segment of the movie that took place on Hawkeye's farm, with the introduction of a secret life that only he, Black Widow, and Fury were previously aware of. I couldn't disagree more with those who complained about that bit of story arc, or any of the other sections of the movie that focused on fleshing out the characters who haven't had the benefit of multiple movies establishing the more human, non-hero sides to them. Ultron was handled better than I went into the movie expecting, AI is always a bit touchy for me because it is handled so poorly in almost all cases.Read more ›

Age of Ultron plays the same basic game as the first Avengers film--it is a team-up spectacle designed to play with group dynamics and mostly, just be a lot of fun. And it works, if not as well as its predecessor. The primary downgrade is that the charming humor of the original is mostly missing. That is not because the story is darker (it is) but because many of the would-be witty dialogue just does not land as well. Overall, the film seems a bit confused about itself, and as others have mentioned, the rumored three-hour director's cut would presumably clear things up. As is, it is kind of a mess, but the story is ambitious, the characters familiar and the fictional world still engrossing. As far as entertainment goes, if you enjoyed The Avengers, you will basically get a second dose of that enjoyment from Age of Ultron.
Beyond the general review, I have to express my deep disappointment with the titular villain, Ultron. The Ultron in the film is simply not the menacing character of the excellent pre-release trailers. Rather, he is surprisingly...lighthearted and not very well-developed. Whedon seems to have been trying to do something convoluted with the character, but in the end it just feels like missed potential. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's one mostly-consistent weakness has been lack of great villains, and here was an opportunity to address that, but no.

Following the destructive events of the last film; the Avengers have now rebuilt a new headquarters and Tony Stark and Bruce Banner are in the process of programming a global peacekeeping machine program called Ultron. Things seem to go well at first, until Ultron becomes self-aware.
With Ultron now sentient, he does the opposite of what Stark and Banner wanted and develops an evil philosophy that in order to save the earth, he must exterminate mankind. He takes the powerful duo of Pietro “Quicksilver” and the beautiful but sneaky and psychological manipulative Wanda “Scarlet Witch” Maximoff under his leadership to carry out his plan to first kill every Avenger and then humanity.
With the fate of the earth and all who inhabit it in grave danger the Avengers must reassemble to prevent Ultron and his minions from destroying the planet. Along the way, the Avengers will face the ultimate test as their trust and friendship with each other is put on the line all in the middle of battle
Overall: Avengers – Age of Ultron was a major success and was just as great as the first film. Action packed with a well scripted plot to keep your attention beginning to end. One thing I loved about this sequel was the focus of the bonds with a lot of the characters involved in the film. Throughout you’ll see bond developments—good and bad, minor and major with Hulk/Banner and Black Widow, Iron Man and Ultron, Wanda and Pietro, and even Hawkeye and his wife. Hulk fans will be disappointed to know that the Hulk’s appearances and on-screen time in this installation of the film are kept to a minimum but in a way it all has to do with the story.Read more ›

I thought it was the best Avengers movie yet. With the first test being worth the price of admission and the second half just dominating the rest of the film makes it to me seem on real on how good this movie is

At SDCC last weekend, Joss confirmed that a director's cut would not be released despite the fact that there's something like an additional 30-odd minutes of footage that was shot. In this own words, "The fact that Marvel gave me that opportunity and supported it, I'm very happy and very... Read More
I agree that reviews for the movie itself should be somewhere other than Amazon. The Reviews section is for the actual product, e.g. packaging, special features, etc., NOT reviews of the content. Amazon should not even allow reviews for a product they aren't shipping yet.
Well I think it would be because of the added cost, as well as the aging DVD technology. Since Blu ray has kind of take over the DVD market, and then there's the whole digital marketplace that is also taking some/most of the physical DVD business as well (DVD's have been around since 1996). Also... Read More
