Like most people, I bought a Wii U for the New Smash Bros, LOZ, Animal Crossing and so on. And I've been anxiously awaiting this games arrival for a long time, as I pre-ordered is the second it was available on amazon. The last game I can say I truly enjoyed on the Wii U, was Super Mario 3D World, and boy am I glad the wait for a new great game is over.

This game is AMAZING! I've played every entry since SMK and have loved each one since, as they all brought new ideas to the table. Mario Kart 8 takes the reigns as my favorite title in the series though, no question! This has got to be THE best racing game Nintendo has ever created. It's so much more tasty and rich than the ones before it.

So first off, the gamepad controls for this game feel very nice. Being used to the wii remote, I was surprised at how natural the conversion to the gamepad felt. I prefer using the analog sticks opposed to the gamepad's gyroscope though. The gamepad is just a little too big to be leaning back and forth!:/ I also like how they incorporated the gamepads screen into the game. If you're playing on the T.V. you can easily switch to gamepad-only mode with the touch of a button, there's also another little button you can press to see where everyone is on the track! Very convenient! Some people may complain that the gamepad screen isn't being used enough, but come on, lets be honest... There's not much you can do with the gamepad in this game. You're racing! You want to keep your eye's on ONE screen!

Next, the graphics. Sweet baby Jesus this game is beautiful. I can't describe the feeling of seeing an HD Mario Kart game, it's completely different from seeing the videos of it in reviews on YouTube. Once you own this game and you play it on your TV...

And we were able to play Mario Kart 8 nonstop for about 7 hours. There aren't too many games that can create that much replayability and fun for that long for that 13 people ranging from ages 11 to 45. It's a must-buy if you have a Wii U and is good enough that, as long as you have people to play with, it's worth buying the system just to play this game.

The new levitation and under-water parts are as smooth as one would expect. There wasn't much of a learning curve. The new tracks, karts, and characters are all wonderful additions plus there are returning favorites. If you liked Mario Kart in the past, this is another fantastic entry into the series.

Additionally, the game looks gorgeous in full HD with 1080p at 60f/s. There are little attentions to detail around every turn. The new courses honor thwomps and other secondary characters in creative ways that feel right.

Unlike Sonic all-star racing, this game was easy to pick up and play from the start. You will probably win your first cup on your first try, but it gets harder. Sonic gave me control issues that required too much unnecessary skill and practice before I even started to make some headway in the game.

The gamepad is integrated well into the game, not forcing anything unneeded, but providing extra awesome. My favorite was to have the track displayed so I could check where the other karts were on the map.

That brings me to the new battle. I think the change is awesome. You can battle in one-player mode with customizable settings on the real tracks. There were full sets of karts for the one-player battle, so I don't know if multiplayer will feel space, but single player did not.

This is going to be the go-to party game. It appeared to be pretty flawless so I thank Nintendo for putting the extra effort in. Hopefully there are surprises too, for when I get more time to play further in the game.

OK first of all I have to admit I've been an Xbox user exclusively since the first Xbox was released. I never purchased a Wii, and haven't owned a Nintendo product since Game Boy when I was a young lad. I played Mario Kart at a friends house on the Wii, I loved the game but it just never grabbed me enough to purchase a console to play it on. Recently I sold my Xbox 360 and PS3 to get an Xbox One...never made the purchase and have been console-less for a quite some time.

I just noticed Mario Kart 8 was coming out for Wii U and I decided to look in to it. The visuals look amazing, and there is no denying the amount of fun you can have with "party" games like this. I went ahead and purchased a new black Wii U, and Mario Kart...I never thought I'd say this but its a game changer! First off the game looks much better when you actually see it on your HDTV, everything is crisp and colorful...vibrant is a word that comes to mind! The gamepad is honestly one of my favorite parts of Wii U so far, the second screen just adds so much to the experience, and being able to see the track in my hand is awesome!

My girlfriend and I played for a few hours, just checking out the tracks and characters (we both grew up with Mario on NES). The competition is fierce and with so many characters and tracks to choose fun we only quit cause we had to head to work. I'm not a Wii advocate, and I've literally only owned the console and game for a few hours so I cant provide a full review. From what I'm seeing so far whether your a Mario Kart connoisseur or a first time player you will love this game.
