Airport is a 1970 American film starring Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin and based on the 1968 Arthur Hailey novel of the same name. The film, which earned nearly $100,500,000, focuses on an airport manager trying to keep his airport open during a snow storm, while a suicidal bomber plots to blow up a Boeing 707 airliner in flight. The story takes place at a fictional Lincoln International Airport located near Chicago. The film was written for the screen and directed by George Seaton. Seaton was assisted by Henry Hathaway, and Ernest Laszlo photographed it in 70 mm Todd-AO. The film cost $10 million to produce.
This was the last film scored by Alfred Newman, who died shortly before the film's release. Airport was also the last major film role for Van Heflin.
The film was a critical success and surpassed Spartacus as Universal Pictures' biggest moneymaker. It won Helen Hayes an Academy Award for her supporting role as an elderly stowaway. It was nominated for nine more Academy awards, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design for renowned Hollywood designer Edith Head.

Ich bin wieder zu Hause
und ich auch mach'
ich denk' immer nur
nur an dich.
Nein
dich wiederseh'n - ganz schnell wiederseh'n
dich wiederseh'n - bitte einmal noch
und dann immer wieder.
Und jetzt bin ich total perplex
dein Gesicht und dein süßer Sex
läßt mich einfach nicht mehr in Ruh
und ich vermiß dich.
Dich wiederseh'n - ich muß dich wiederseh'n
dich wiederseh'n - ganz schnell wiederseh'n
Dich wiederseh'n - ist alles was ich will
dich wiederseh'n - ist alles was ich brauch'
dich wiederseh'n - bitte einmal noch

my baby came in a a plane last night
i went down to meet her but I had the wrong flight
yea the man at the desk said that she wasn't due
he said she wouldn't been in for an hour or too
no, no, no
we waited we waited until i broke
i said to myself this must be a joke
i went up to the desk and said look her man
what time did you say my baby's gonna land?
Well he looked at his book and he said hey sport
You got the right plane baby but the wrong Airport.
i finally got to see my baby you see
a half an hour later she was laying next to me.
she was lookin real good and she sounded alright
ya know my baby knocked me around and she found a fight
Today the grass is like another green,
straight from heaven's garden, like you've never seen.
At first glance it's like this place is on fire,
but it's just time for this dew to expire.
Most of the days I'm down near the sea.
People say they're not seeing me,
I miss them as much as they miss me.
I miss them just like they miss me.
Now yesterday I think he might have called
to say "Hey," or just to get us all
to get together on a Saturday,
to take some time come down your way.
But he's over on the North Side.
He can walk. He doesn't need a ride.
I wouldn't pick him up anyway.
It's not not my town. I don't know the way.
I see him out my window,
on a very
different street
where leaves fall up in the Spring time,
and the sun sets in the East.
I'm always late whem I'm visiting.
I can't remember where the station is.
What time will you be coming in?
What time will you be coming in?
I wish my town had an airport.
In 15 minutes we'de be at my door.
We'd used the time for a walk and some wine,
but these days I'm trying not to think about..
time.
I see him out my window,
on a very
different street
where leaves fall up in the Spring time,
and the sun sets in the east.
We hang out in the garden,
away from
phone calls,
strip malls-now I don't want to leave you behind.
It's just that grayed-out horizon.
Hey,
I stand on the tallest building
and stare down at the grey runway
and the tail-smoke of the Boeing jet
that's taking you so far away.
Believe me, I don't want you to leave me;
look in my eyes and you'll see them
filled with pain.
Imagine just how sad I'll be
in some future day when I turn
and no longer see your face.
All I can now cry is goodbye, love, goodbye.
In a week, in a month, in a year,
in a lifetime how I'll feel none can tell.
All I know is now you're going
there's really no-one here to help.
Believe me...
Already it's too late, you're through the boarding-gate
and walking on the tarmac.
Already you are free, already you've left me
and cannot bear to look back, can you?
A brief taxi on the runway,
then up into the stilling night sky;
and I'm standing on the observation tower,
my eyes too dimmed by distance to cry.
Believe me...
All I can now do is walk away alone,
Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks
Some doors are open
Some roads are blocked
Sundowns are golden
Then fade away
But if I never do nothing
I'll get you back some day, 'cause
(Chorus)
You got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And I can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down
All around your island
There's a barricade
That keeps out the danger
That holds in the pain
Sometimes you're happy
Sometimes you cry
Half of me is ocean
Half of me is sky, but
(Chorus)
Some things are over
Some things go on
Part of me you carry
Part of me is gone, but
I'll give you anything you need,
I'll give you anything you need,
I'll give you more than you've got,
I'll give you more than you've got.
I'll save my money up for weeks,
I'll cash my debts and G.I.C.s,
I'll make more conversation,
I'll make more conversation,
But now that I'm at the airport,
Now that I'm at the airport,
Baby please,
I'll come back home if you'll have me.
I made my mind up I should leave,
I packed my bags up patiently,
I had my weapons loaded,
I had my weapons loaded,
But now that i'm at the airport,
Now that I'm at the airport,
Baby please,
I'll come back home if you'll have me.
Baby please,
Baby please,
Baby please,
So many destination faces going to so many places
Where the weather is much better
And the food is so much cheaper.
Well I help her with her baggage for her baggage is so heavy
I hear the plane is ready by the gateway to take my love away.
And I can't believe that she really wants to leave me and it's getting me so,
It's getting me so.
Airport -
Airport, you've got a smiling face,
You took the one I love so far away
Fly her away - fly her away - airport.
Airport, you've got a smiling face
You took my lady to another place
Fly her away - fly her away.
The plane is on the move,
And the traces of the love we had in places
Are turning in my mind - how I wish I'd been much stronger
For the wheels are turning faster as I hear the winds are blowing
And I know that she is leaving
On the jet plane way down the runaway.
And I can't believe that she really wants to leave me - and it's
Getting me so,
It's getting me so.
Airport -
Airport, you've got a smiling face,...
Airport -
You want touch me
Touch my airport
If you wanna touch me
You won’t judge me
Judge my airport
If you wanna judge me
I’m on air on and on
Somewhere out there
Having fun
Chilling here with stars and rum
tonight I’m gonna please someone
I’m gonna give all that I’ve got
I’m gonna live all that I’ve got
So when I’m going I’m done
Feeling good about this mom
You want touch me
Touch my airport
If you wanna touch me
You won’t judge me
Judge my airport
If you wanna judge me
The night is dawn I’m on the run
I don’t know which flight I’m on
I just keep singing
In the sun
I never land I stay up friend
I’m gonna live all that I’ve got
I’m gonna give all that I’ve got
So when I’m going I’m done
Feeling good about this
You want touch me
Touch my airport
If you wanna touch me
You won’t judge me
Judge my airport
