The British Museum, in London, is widely considered to be one of the world's greatest museums of human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some eight million works, is amongst the finest, most comprehensive, and largest in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.
The British Museum was established in 1753, largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building. Its expansion over the following two and a half centuries was largely a result of an expanding British colonial footprint and has resulted in the creation of several branch institutions, the first being the British Museum (Natural History) in South Kensington in 1887. Some objects in the collection, most notably the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, are the objects of intense controversy and of calls for restitution to their countries of origin.

The British Museum houses a vast collection of ancient artifacts that not only confirm the biblical record—it confirms it many times over! As you walk the beautiful galleries of Britain’s second most popular tourist attraction, you will discover a rich supply of material that illuminates God’s inspired word—the Holy Bible.
The relatively new science of archeology—the digging up and study of the material remains of man’s past—confirms without question the historical accuracy of the Bible. At one point in time the events and persons of the Bible were known only as they were recorded in the scriptures. However, archaeology has uncovered solid, documented evidence confirming the Biblical accounts.
In today’s program, presenter Stephen Flurry discusses his recent trip to the Museum and explains the significance of items including: Shalmaneser’s Black Obelisk, the reliefs of Lachish, the Cylinder of Nabonidus, the Cyrus Cylinder and Sennacherib’s Prism. These artifacts, held at the British Museum, reinforce the authority of the Bible.

British Museum Tube Station - Abandoned - London.
British Museum was a station on the London Underground, located in Holborn, central London. It was latterly served by the Central line and took its name from the nearby British Museum in Great Russell Street.
The station was opened by the Central London Railway in 1900. In 1933, with the expansion of Holborn station, less than 100 yards away, British Museum station was permanently closed. It was subsequently utilised as a military office and command post, but in 1989 the surface building was demolished and the remainder of the station is wholly disused.
British Museum station was opened on 30 July 1900 by the Central London Railway (CLR; now the Central line), with its entrance located at No. 133, High Holborn (now a building society), near the junction with New Oxford Street. In December 1906, Holborn station was opened by the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (GNP&BR; now the Piccadilly line) less than 100 yards away. Despite being built and operated by separate companies, it was common for the underground railways to plan routes and locate stations so that interchanges could be easily formed between services. This had been done by other lines connecting with the CLR stations at Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road, but an interchange station was not initially constructed between the GNP&BR; and the CLR because the tunnel alignment to British Museum station would not have been suitable for the GNP&BR;'s route to its Strand station (later renamed Aldwych). The junction between High Holborn and the newly constructed Kingsway was also a more prominent location for a station than that chosen by the CLR.
British Museum station featured on an old version of the Tube map
The possibility of an underground passageway was initially mooted, but the idea suffered from the complexity of tunneling between the stations. Holborn station was, in any case, better situated than British Museum, as it had better tram connections (Holborn had a stop on the now defunct Kingsway tramway subway). A proposal to enlarge the tunnels under High Holborn to create new platforms at Holborn station for the CLR and to abandon the British Museum station was originally included in a private bill submitted to parliament by the CLR in November 1913, although the First World War prevented any work taking place. The works were eventually carried out as part of the modernisation of Holborn station at the beginning of the 1930s when escalators were installed in place of lifts. British Museum station was duly closed on 24 September 1933, with the new platforms at Holborn opening the following day.
A building society now occupies the site of the former British Museum station
British Museum station was subsequently re-used up to the 1960s as a military administrative office and emergency command post, but it is now wholly disused. It can no longer be accessed from street level and the surface station building was demolished in 1989. The platforms have been removed, thus lowering the entire tunnel floor to track level. This portion of the eastbound tunnel is now used by engineers to store sleepers and other parts of track, which can be seen from passing trains.

Amazingly enough there's still no admission charge.
The museum was originally opened to imagine of new aristocrat which quickly probe too small. Built in 1823 the Tympanic Columns Palace is under constant expansion. Alongside the classics one can also find such popular works as the first edition of Scarlet Pimpernel, the stories of Beatrix Potter or the manuscripts of Conan Doyle.
Among the numerous exceptional treasures on exhibit of the British museum perhaps the ancient Egyptian collection is the most valuable. From the mummified sacred cat the beauty of the great sphinx of Giza to the Tabrizian granite statue of Remises II there's wealth of objects to see.
The most famous is the rosette stone which dates back to 196 BC and was founded in Nile Valley in 1799. The text of a degree was inscribed done it in hieroglyphic symbols demotic writing and Ingrid translation. By comparing these three variations of the encryption the French archeologist Champollion was finally able to decide for the secret of the h Hieroglyphics. Understanding the writing on the Rosette stone is considered a milestone in the Egyptology There's also a significant ancient Greek collection with for example El Cajon from the Parthenon.
The shallon golden laid ram in the bush is from the ancient Sumerian City of Ur. The Portland vase is from an ancient Roman grave dating back to the first century. The Amitābha Buddha comes from China. Also worth mentioning is the Aztec mosaic mass depicting gates of Goatel and Milden Hall treasure which is perhaps the most valuable of any of the ancient artifacts found in England.

Its expansion over the following two and a half centuries was largely a result of an expanding British colonial footprint and has resulted in the creation of several branch institutions, the first being the British Museum (Natural History) in South Kensington in 1881. Some objects in the collection, most notably the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, are the objects of controversy and of calls for restitution to their countries of origin. The British Museum is a museum dedicated to human history and culture, located in the Bloomsbury area of London. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8 million works,[3] is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence[3] and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.[a]

Everyone knows London. The red double-deckers, the black taxis, the red phone booths, the red brick buildings, the guards with the bearskin fur caps are well known by even those, who have never been to the English capital. There are the legendary buildings: the clock-tower of the Parliament, the Big Ben, the Saint Paul Cathedral, the residence of the Queen, the Buckingham Palace, the Westminster, the Tower and the famous bridge, the Tower, the Waterloo and the London bridge are all known from the pages of history books and literary pieces. There are incredibly lots of things to see, there is the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Trafalgar Square, the Piccadilly Circus, the famous parks, the St. James and the Hyde, the rebuilt Globe Theatre, the Madame Tussaud’s, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and the new pride of the city, the London Eye… Not to mention the busy cultural life, the theatres, the restaurants of the Soho and Covent Garden, and the uncountable number of pubs, where in the old days Shakespeare, Dickens or Churchill had their beers.

In Part Two he talks about the incredible Sekhmet statues found at Luxor, their significance, origins and the magic and high-weirdness that surrounds them. Part One here: http://youtu.be/iWKK59KCMRk. See Andrew's website: http://www.andrewcollins.com.
Sekhmet represented the might of the sun at midday, as well as the power of smiting through plague and disease. The statues, all made of Aswan granite, formed part of an avenue of 730 Sekhmets commissioned by king Amenhotep III, ca. 1386-1349 BC. They lined a processional route to a temple arguably to avert a plague striking Egypt.

London's Chinatown Great Travel Guide in London,England,UK Tourist Attraction. Traveling: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiPG42heME8d5G9MZJrU6wQ
Take a trip into the Far East by walking north from Leicester Square into Chinatown, the bustling hub of London’s East Asian community. Whether you’re looking for authentic Chinese shopping or a bite to eat, Chinatown will reward you with goods and flavours you can’t find elsewhere.
Budding chefs can find Chinese vegetables and authentic Eastern ingredients at Chinese supermarkets, while tired shoppers can relax at a reflexology specialist or investigate traditional Chinese medicine. Meanwhile, if you have an appetite for sushi or Szechuan, satay or stir fry, Chinatown has almost eighty restaurants offering cuisine from across the Far East.

The Sutton Hoo Burial exhibit is still very ornate and it is a wonderful piece to check out. The helmet has several hidden images on it like in one of those children's books. There are over five thousand unique pieces that are displayed that can make the viewer truly grasp what life was like in the middle of the 18th century all the way up to the beginning of the 19th century. The British Museum was founded by an Act of Parliament and the piece of paper that the Act was transcribed on can be seen in George the III's library that was restored. It dates back all the way to the early 7th century. Make sure to find the best time that different collections are on display, because not all of them will be displayed every single day. You can find out more about exhibit schedules on the British Museum's website. The museum tries to mix it up a little because they have to many artifacts and not enough display space.

Shepherd Entertainment gives you the history of London's museums such as Madam Tussauds and the British Museum.
Visit London's Museums in the United Kingdom
Madam Tussaud was museum is another typically London site. The French woman lived in the quarter of Louise XVI and prepared was figures of all the famous people beheaded in the French revolution. The figures were first exhibited in London in 1835; the collection is constantly expanding with life size wax statues and politicians, artists and celebrities who often donate their own clothes for their lifeless dabbles to dawn. In spite of its name the British museum established in 1753 exhibits much more than merely British objects. This was the world's first truly public national museum. Amazingly enough there's still no admission charge.
The museum was originally opened to imagine of new aristocrat which quickly probe too small. Built in 1823 the Tympanic Columns Palace is under constant expansion. For the new millennium the court guard was marbled on top to the glass ceiling. In the center of the court under the dome is a circular library.

British Museum in London Borough of Camden, England | British Museum Travel Videos Guide
The British Museum is a museum dedicated to human history and culture, located in the Bloomsbury area of London. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8 million works,[3] is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence[3] and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.[a]
The British Museum was established in 1753, largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building.
