In Greek mythology, Electra (Greek: Ἠλέκτρα, Ēlektra) was an Argive princess and daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra. She and her brother Orestes plotted revenge against their mother Clytemnestra and stepfather Aegisthus for the murder of their father Agamemnon. Electra is the main character in the Greek tragedies Electra by Sophocles and Electra by Euripides and has inspired various other works. The psychological concept of the Electra complex is also named after her.
Electra's parents were King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra. Her sisters were Iphigeneia and Chrysothemis, and her brother Orestes. In the Iliad, Homer is understood to be referring to Electra in mentioning "Laodice" as a daughter of Agamemnon.
The daughter of Agamemnon should not be confused with her namesake the sea-nymph Electra, the mother of the lesser goddess Iris by the Sea-Titan Thaumas.
Electra was absent from Mycenae when her father, King Agamemnon, returned from the Trojan War to be murdered by Aegisthus, Clytemnestra's lover, and/or by Clytemnestra herself. Clytemnestra had held a grudge against her husband Agamemnon for murdering their eldest daughter Iphigenia as sacrifice to Artemis or Athena (disputed). Aegisthus and Clytemnestra also killed Cassandra, Agamemnon's war prize, a prophet priestess of Troy. Eight years later Electra was brought from Athens with her brother, Orestes. (Odyssey, iii. 306; X. 542).

Marina Lambrini Diamandis (Greek: Μαρίνα-Λαμπρινή Διαμάντη, pronounced [ðʝaˈmadi]; born 10 October 1985), better known by her stage name Marina and the Diamonds (sometimes stylised as Marina & the Diamonds), is a Welsh singer-songwriter. She rose to fame after reaching number two on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll list, coming second to Ellie Goulding. After releasing one private EP, Diamandis released her second extended play, The Crown Jewels EP, with help from Neon Gold Records, in 2009. Now signed to 679 Recordings, she released her debut full length studio album, The Family Jewels, followed by her third extended play, The American Jewels EP, in 2010. In 2011, Diamandis announced that she was working on her second album, Electra Heart, which was released in April 2012 and went to #1 in the UK and Ireland.
Her stage name, "Marina and the Diamonds", consists of Diamandis' first name and the translation of her surname which means "Diamonds" in Greek. Although "The Diamonds" is often mistakenly believed to refer to her backing band, it in fact refers to Diamandis' fans: she explains this on her Myspace page by saying "I'm Marina. You are the diamonds."
I know that woman in the mirror
Not quite yours and not quite mine
Who she is can't say for sure
Could be from another tide
She's the Queen of Sheba, my father's mother
Her face is low flying Africa
She says to me she is not me
So tell me, tell me who is she?
Tell me, tell me who is she?
You'd think she owns the streets of Dublin
They say she's king of Torquay island
She trades in piracy and sinning
She knows where you go at night
And when you think you've finally reached her
She laughs and says, "Babe, it's all right."
I know that woman in the mirror
That creature has my thoughts as eyes
He saw her once and then forgot her
She remembers all his lies
He spoke in secrets and in German
Kissed in tongues and slept in sighs
She says to me she's not my father
So tell me, tell me who is she?
Tell me, tell me who is she?
You'd think she owns the streets of Dublin
They say she's king of Torquay island
She trades in piracy and sinning
She knows where you go at night
And when you think you've finally reached her
She laughs and says, "Babe, it's all right."
I know that woman in the mirror
Not quite yours and not quite mine
Who she is can't say for sure
Could be from another tide
She's the Queen of Sheba, my father's mother
Her face is low flying Africa
She says to me she is not me
So tell me, tell me who is she?
Tell me, tell me who is she?
Tell me, tell me who is she?
And then the dark
I've been way beyond your universe
And I've seen things that I should never tell
But here I go again I just can't keep it to myself
The story of my world and how I fell
Round and round
The square inside the circle
And still I shake the same
At the rhythm of her name
Electra
Electra
I believed in love and miracles
So how can I be blamed for what I've done?
And if it's still a sin to hide the best parts for yourself
Then I have sinned but only just begun
There's no thunder, no lightning
Just a gentle breeze
To warn you that something
Will bring you to your knees
Round and round
You're caught inside the circle
Still I shake the same
At the mention of her name
Electra
Electra
Hey, I've been way beyond your universe
And I've come back to introduce to you
The fear of the heart, just try to keep it from yourself
And it will be the last thing that you'll do
Round and round
You're caught inside a circle
And you will shake the same
At the magic of her name
Electra
Electra
I am here to show my changes
Not to change what I've become, no, no
I'm not alone and she will testify
That it's the best thing that I've done, oh, oh, for
Electra
My body shakes -
electric can't move
my TV could kill me
I can't move far
that morning
becomes the time when
I wake and shudder
to see I'm bleeding again again
I'll wish upon
some other star
and maybe that would break me
I remember when
electric felt like the world was mine
that morning became electric
I stop and shuddered
to see I am bleeding again again again again
again again again
you see i'm weightless
i'm staying in all this
I miss you but right now I am floating
set adrift get quiet with me and you could stay
where you don't feel
and you don't remember
morning becomes the time when
I wake shudder to see i'm bleeding again again
and the morning becomes the time when
I wake and shudder
I feel electric again again again again
She loved a man who was sweet and lean
With a madison avenue scar
And wherever he went to get away
He took their luxury car
Where can you run
When the old house shakes
And it's too hot to make any plans
The sidewalks crack, and the whole world quakes
'cause you know that you chose the wrong man
Chorus:
Electra, the spirits tease
High up a bluff
And down on her knees
She's looking down
At kingdom come
Come back electra
Don't jump, don't jump!
With a camera, he caught the mood
When a pen he caught what she thought
And everything worth having he mistook
For something you bought
Where can you run
When the old house shakes
And it's too hot to make any plans
The sidewalks crack, and the whole world quakes
'cause you know that you chose the wrong man
