Francoeur was selected by the Braves in the first round of the June 2002 amateur draft. After the draft, Francoeur was assigned to the team’s advanced Rookie League club in Danville, Virginia, where he played 38 games and hit .327 with eight homers and 31 RBIs. Francoeur advanced steadily through the Braves minor league system, playing for Rome (Low A) in 2003, Myrtle Beach (High A) and Greenville (former AA) in 2004, and Mississippi (AA) in 2005.
Francoeur was a member of the Rome Braves inaugural season team which went on to win the 2003 South Atlantic League Championship. He led that team in home runs with 14.
In 2004, Francoeur was named the top prospect in the Braves organization by Baseball America. He was a member of the Carolina League regular season and postseason All-Star team. In 2005, he was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game before getting called up by Atlanta.

Jeff Francoeur's Hilarious Error Almost Costs His Team Inside-The-Park Home Run
The Phillies’ Jeff Francoeur handed the Washington Nationals an extra base on what would have ordinarily been a routine double on Sunday.
It started when Denard Span drove a low shot into right field past Ryan Howard and towards the on-running Francoeur. It was at that point the Phillies right fielder picked up the ball, then dropped it, then picked it up again, then threw it forward a few feet, then picked it up again and threw it infield. By that time, Span had made his way around to third base and almost rounded them entirely for a rare, inside-the-park home run.

A's vs Royals Jeff Francoeur Surprise Part 1
As promised from Jeff Francoeur, he gave us a surprise this game making him the coolest Baseball player of the year. A's also avoided the sweep.
"I was just in second grade, and I'm watching the Braves go to the World Series, ... I mean, the World Series! I figure it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing."
"I think she's in a tough situation with what she's trying to do. I don't think she was worse than the others, I don't think she was better."
"None of it's hit me, ... After the season I'll look back at it but right now I'm taking it day by day."
"We joke on our morning show because he's so perfect, ... He's a great athlete, a hometown guy, good looking. I wouldn't be surprised if he was running a foster puppy shelter out of his basement and helping sick children in his spare time."
"She's going on with her life and gets her chance to see her friends, and she's going to be a senior, ... I know she's happy for me for what I'm doing and she's doing her thing. She's got her life and her independence."
"When you've got guys like Andruw (Jones), Chipper (Jones), Julio (Franco) and Marcus (Giles) in front of you, you have some RBI chances. A pitcher doesn't want to pitch to those guys. He'd rather pitch to a rookie any day."
"The first at-bat I was trying to go out and get everything instead of trusting my hands, That's what happens when you trust your hands."
"I was talking to Chipper [Jones] last night about how we've faced some pretty good pitchers and how it's been good for me to see them."
"I thought he would go to first. It was a break for us that he threw it a little high. It's a tough throw for any pitcher."
"I felt like it was a big enough moment in the game where we needed to get something going. Right when I hit it, I figured it was one of my best bunts ever. I was a little shocked. The last time I tried to bunt I got hit in the face last year."
