On-board my first ever Delta Air Lines flight for a cross country jump from New York on the Atlantic coast down to Los Angeles on the Pacific coast. Very nice flight, a fair few empty seats around me so enjoyed a free seat next to me and lots of room to spread out. Strange flight in the sense that although it was a daytime flight during the cruise all the lights were switched off and many had their window blinds closed and were sleeping. So the cabin was very quiet and pitch black for much of the flight. Entertainment system was very good. My one complaint would be the on-board service. A 6 hour flight and you only get a couple of biscuits or pretzels and a few free drinks. No meal or anything. Then when I went to purchase something from the menu they didn't take cash payments at all and I'd got the exact change. Was rather disappointed and arrived in California starving! None the less a beautiful aircraft, great seat, entertainment and plenty of legroom and space on-board! Hey guys welcome to my fourth full flight video!! First of all, this video is very long and feel free to skip any boring parts. This was all the way back in April when I went from JFK- PHX!! This was a VERY TURBULENT FLIGHT. I would say the first three out of the six hours had lots of turbulence due to STRONG WINDS out of the NW. The Flight time was around seven hours due to a LONG ATC DELAY on the ground. The winds were also gusting to 35KTS on departure. I was also very lucky to be able to fly on Delta's new Boeing 757-200 (S) which has the new updated interior!! Hope you enjoy as much as I did!! For today's video, here is a full flight experience on board Delta Airlines' Boeing 717 from Newark to Atlanta! This flight was Delta Airlines Flight 2453 DAL2453/DL2453 with service to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (KATL/ATL) from Newark Liberty International Airport (KEWR/EWR). The aircraft I flew was N915AT, a Boeing 717-231, which had it's first flight in March 2001, making the aircraft 13.6 years old! During the video, I was sitting in Seat 23E. FLIGHT EXPERIENCE : Information about Delta Airlines : Delta Airlines is one of the "big 3" carriers of the United States, and serves many destinations in the world internationally with a large variety of aircraft. Delta's fares are usually low cost and they offer good in-flight entertainment most of the time. The legroom is also good on most of their airplanes. Seats : Delta has the usual First Class and Economy Class. They offer a section called Economy Comfort which is located in the coach cabin, which has better legroom and more boarding time. Delta's 717 seats are comfortable, soft and have nice legroom. The recline is also pretty good for a plane like this. Food/Beverage : Delta uses the standard carts to haul food and drinks around the aisles of the airplane. They offer complimentary Coca Cola beverages and 3 choices of free snacks, which include mini pretzels, cinnamon cookies and peanuts. Delta pours the drink into the a plastic cup. Out of my several Delta flights, all but one group of flight attendants have been fantastic, this set of crew was probably the best. Turbulence : There was none during this flight, a very smooth ride. Delays : We were on schedule and arrived early on this flight! Good job to Delta for no delays :) In-Flight Entertainment : On this flight, there were no Personal TV's or any AVOD entertainment - the 717 fleet is not equipped with these because they are used for short haul routes. The entertainment included the magazines...and looking out the window ;) Just kidding...there is also On-Demand audio streaming in all classes of the 717. There is also gogo in-flight WiFi available for purchase, but on this flight, the network was down. Baggage Costs : I did not choose to check in any bags, I put my luggage in the overhead compartments. If I did check a bag, it would have to weigh under 50 lbs and not exceed over 62 inches in total dimensions (length + width + height). And of course, you are allowed one personal item and one carry-on item for free! Usually, you can't go wrong with them unless there is a major problem. Air Crash Investigation season 5 episode 1 ►Delta Air Lines Flight 191 - Invisible Killer Delta Air Lines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled Delta Air Lines domestic service from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Los Angeles, via Dallas that crashed on August 2, 1985, at 18:05 (UTC−05:00). The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar operating this flight encountered a microburst while on approach to land on runway 17L at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The pilots were unable to successfully escape the weather event, and the aircraft impacted the ground over a mile short of the runway. The flight hit a car driving north of the airport and impacted two water tanks, disintegrating. The crash killed 136 of the 152 passengers and 11 crew on board, and the driver of the car. Delta Airlines DL166 B777-200ER Singapore to Narita Review

Delta flight to Narita from Singapore DL166 on a Boeing 777-200ER. This part of a service which connects passengers to Seattle via NRT. Took DL for my flight to Japan as it was one of the cheaper alternative to Scoot or AirAsiaX (they were only 50bucks apart) True to most reviewers of Delta flights, their on board food is usually above average in terms of taste and serving size. They did gave us strawberry yogurt as a dessert. Oh, they have STARBUCKS COFFEE on board! Both their main meal and pre-arrival are one of the best tasting airline food i ever had. Entertainment wise, Delta Studio is packed with alot of movies and TV shows. I was well entertained from Singapore all the way to Narita, ignoring most of the rough air the plane went through. Comfort, well, i fit perfectly fine for a average built asian in an american airliner. So.. i have no complains there. Though it will be nice to have a leg rest. Blanket, cushion, earphones and eyemask are complimentary, though i used my own headphones to listen to my movie and the occasional AC/DC album. All in all, i would take Delta again if the fare deal comes around again!

Aviation disaster: ValuJet Air Crash (Flight 592)

ValuJet Flight 592 was a regularly scheduled flight from Miami International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. On May 11, 1996, the McDonnell-Douglas DC-9 operating the route crashed into the Everglades shortly after taking off from Miami as a result of a fire in the cargo compartment caused by improperly stored cargo, killing all 110 people on board The aircraft that crashed, a DC-9, was 27 years old and had been previously owned by Delta Air Lines. Its first flight was April 18, 1969. Delivered to Delta on May 27, 1969, the airframe flew for Delta until the end of 1992, when it was retired and sold back to McDonnell Douglas. McDonnell Douglas then sold the plane to ValuJet in early 1993. The aircraft had suffered a series of incidents in the two years prior to the crash, including aborted takeoffs and emergency landings. In the cockpit were two experienced pilots: Captain Candalyn Kubeck (35) and First Officer Richard Hazen (52). The captain had accumulated more than 8,900 hours throughout her career and the first officer had more than 11,800 total flight hour On the afternoon of May 11, 1996, Flight 592 pushed back from gate G2 in Miami after a delay of 1 hour and 4 minutes due to mechanical problems.[1] There were 105 passengers, mainly from Florida and Georgia, on board, as well as a crew of two pilots and three flight attendants, bringing the total number of people on board to 110. At 2:04 pm, 10 minutes before the disaster, the DC-9 took off from runway 9L (now runway 8R) and began a normal climb. At 2:10 pm, the passengers started to smell smoke. At the same time, the pilots heard a loud bang in their headphones and noticed the plane was losing electrical power. The spike in electrical power and the bang were eventually determined to be the result of a tire in the cargo hold exploding. Seconds later, flight attendant Jennifer Stearns entered the cockpit and informed the flight crew of a fire in the passenger cabin. Passengers' shouts of "fire, fire, fire" were recorded on the cockpit voice recorder when the cockpit door was opened. Though the ValuJet flight attendant manual stated that the cockpit door should not be opened when smoke or other harmful gases might be present in the cabin, the intercom was disabled and there was no other way to inform the pilots of what was happening. The CDR indicated a progressive failure of the DC-9's electrical and flight control systems due to the spreading fire. Kubeck and Hazen immediately asked air traffic control for a return to Miami due to the increasing smoke in the cockpit and cabin, and were given instructions for a return to the airport. One minute later, Hazen requested the nearest available airport. Kubeck began to turn the plane left in preparation for the return to Miami. At that time, flight attendant Jennifer Stearns entered the cockpit asking why the pilots didn't lower the oxygen masks for the passengers. The pilots had refused; they knew that oxygen would only make the fire worse. Flight 592 disappeared from radar at 2:13:42 pm. Eyewitnesses nearby watched as the plane banked sharply to the left, rolled onto its side and nosedived into the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area in the Everglades, a few miles west of Miami, at a speed in excess of 507 miles per hour (816 km/h). Kubeck lost control of the plane less than 10 seconds before impact. Examination of debris suggested that the fire burned through the floorboards in the cockpit, resulting in structural failure and damage to cables underneath the instrument panels; however, it was just as likely that the crew had also become incapacitated by smoke and fumes. As power had been lost to the cockpit voice recorder about 55 seconds before impact, it was impossible to pinpoint either scenario with certainty. Kubeck, Hazen, the three flight attendants, and all 105 passengers aboard were killed instantly. Recovery of the aircraft and victims was made extremely difficult by the location of the crash. The nearest road of any kind was more than a quarter mile (400 m) away from the crash scene, and the location of the crash itself was a deep-water swamp with a floor made out of solid limestone. The DC-9 was destroyed on impact, with no large pieces of the fuselage remaining. Sawgrass, alligators, and risk of bacterial infection from cuts plagued searchers involved in the recovery effort. A group of fishermen witnessed the crash and reported that "The plane was flying in a steep right bank, after which it turned so that the nose was facing downward in a nearly vertical angle. It plummeted into the swamp followed by an explosion, shock wave, and a massive geyser of water." They reported seeing no external damage to the DC-9 or any sign of fire or smoke other than the engine exhaust.

Southwest Airlines Flight 3828 was cleared for takeoff on Runway 31-Center just before 7:40 p.m. As the plane was speeding down the runway, Delta Air Lines Flight 1328 began its takeoff on Runway 4-Right without clearance, NBC Chicago reported.Airport controllers realised what was happening and ordered the Delta plane to stop immediately. The Southwest plane also chose to abort its takeoff. Both aircraft stopped more than 2,000 feet from the runway intersection, according to NBC Chicago.
