Zuma has faced significant legal challenges. He was charged with rape in 2005, but was acquitted. In addition, he fought a long legal battle over allegations of racketeering and corruption, resulting from his financial advisor Schabir Shaik's conviction for corruption and fraud. On 6 April 2009, the National Prosecuting Authority decided to drop the charges, citing political interference.

"If you are not made by the newspapers, you can't disappear."
"I feel like the entire state machinery is against me."
"We are united as ANC. Comrade Msholozi is a disciplined cadre of the movement, therefore we'll show that support today and tomorrow and forever,"
"There was nothing that they did not open... no place in which they did not search,"
"He did not advise me of any of my rights and demanded that I sign an acknowledgement of receipt for the warrant. Before the warrant was read out, Dale requested that we all hand over our cellphones... It was not clear why,"
"After a few rings, my brother, Duduzani, went to ascertain who was at the door. When he peered through the peephole, he saw persons dressed in black. All of them appeared to be armed, and he heard them talking about breaking the door down because there was no response to the doorbell. Duduzani opened the door to approximately 10 members of the Scorpions, who entered the flat,"
"There is no reason why there should be any doubt that the principals should accept the agreement."
"An understanding has been reached,"
"This reminds me of the time when I was charged in the high court in Pretoria. Everything inside the court was against me -- from the police to the top,"
"[Manamela said people had used the Scorpions to] settle scores ... Some people have been hell-bent on nailing the deputy president to the cross of corruption."
"Africa suffered under European dominance for centuries."
"As a citizen of this country, I've got to be honest to the people of South Africa."
"Criminality is always the result of poverty. Countries that experience such a fundamental change as we have - we had the apartheid regime and must now develop a multicultural democracy - must necessarily pass through a phase of high crime rates."
"People are constantly applying double standards. Take the United States, for example. Washington wants the whole world to admire the country for its democracy. Then the government sends out its army, in the name of this democracy, and leaves behind the kind of chaos we see in Iraq."
"The majority in this country have not seen anything wrong with Zuma. I go with the overwhelming feeling of this country. If the majority say, 'Zuma, do this,' I will do it."
"There is no cloud above my head - there is not even a mist."
"We South Africans are also crazy about football, so the World Cup can be nothing but successful."
"When I joined the ANC, I never thought I would be anything. In no way, did I say, 'One day I could be the president. I think I am good material for the presidency.' Not at all."

Nkandla Is "Just A House". Jacob Zuma Hitting Back At Opposition
President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday dismissed continuing controversy about his private Nkandla homestead, saying it was “just a house”, and criticized the opposition for turning Parliament into a kindergarten. “You can’t sit and finish a year discussing the house of one man. Just a house,” he said, raising his index finger, during his reply to the debate on the presidency’s budget vote speech. “Nor can you take allegations and make them judgements. It’s never done. Democracy takes time, you know,” he said, referring to the R246m spent on security upgrades to his private homestead in KwaZulu-Natal, and the investigations into the matter. He criticised recent behaviour by MPs in the House, including the ruckus that ensued when Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Mzwandile Masina mouthed the words “I will fuck you up” to a DA MP on Tuesday. “We did not fight for our freedom to behave like this. We need to be responsible. You can’t just take Parliament as if it is a kindergarten. It’s a serious matter. We are dealing with a country." He said the opposition was responsible for a “poverty of politics” in the House, not giving him anything substantial to respond to. “What do you respond to ‘a broken president, a broken country’?” he said, referring to a recent speech by DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane. “That’s the problem. The poverty of politics. If you listen to our good friends the opposition, hey hey, I’m telling you, you can think they live in another world.” He mocked the opposition’s concern over Nkandla, growing animated and pulling a face. “Some people who could not pronounce Nkandla, they’ve now learned. Nkandla, Nkandla,” he exclaimed, imitating a fake English accent, throwing up his hands, and laughing, before adding: “Even if you tell them the Nkandla report is being processed”. Speaker Baleka Mbete said after his speech that Masina's use of the expletive was still being investigated and a ruling would be made soon.

Jacob Zuma. I'm NOT Going To Pay Back The Nkandla Money.
Thina sizwe esimnyama, sikhalela izwe lethu. Elathathwa ngabamhlophe... Mabawuyeke umhlaba wethu!
Struggle hero John Beaver "JB" Marks (Born: 21 March 1903, Ventersdorp, Western Transvaal, Died: 1 August 1972, Moscow, Russia) worked with immeasurable commitment and dedication to ensure that South Africa belonged to all who lived in it, President Jacob Zuma said at his reburial on Sunday.
"Welcome home Comrade JB Marks. Welcome home our leader, commissar, intellectual, soldier, teacher and accomplished revolutionary," Zuma said in a speech prepared for delivery in Ventersdorp, North West.
"Your soul may now rest in eternal peace, on home soil, on South African soil."
Zuma said that Marks was a distinguished South African who was totally committed and dedicated to freedom, equality, justice and human rights for all.
Zuma said Marks noticed when African students and white students were treated differently at the teacher training college he attended and could see that black African students were discriminated against, Zuma said.
"He then made it his mission to mobilise other students and showing them exactly how the conditions they were subjected to warranted a revolt," said Zuma.
"It was the beginning of the conscientisation of this remarkable revolutionary."
Zuma said that Marks was one of the leaders who played a key role in the Communist Party-led anti-pass campaign of 1944, which drew 20 000 people, including ANC members.
Marks' success was "remarkable" and he managed to mobilise workers from various countries from Southern Africa under one banner and purpose, said Zuma.

#topstories - Omar al-Basjir ontvlug: Wie moet die skuld kry?
Vandag in #topstories hoor Elma Smit waarvoor pres.

Parliament. Jacob Zuma Condemns Xenophobic Attacks.
President Jacob Zuma has condemned a spate of attacks on foreigners, calling it "shocking and unacceptable". Addressing the nation in Parliament on Thursday, he said no amount of frustration or anger could ever justify the attacks on foreign nationals and the looting of their shops. "We condemn the violence in the strongest possible terms. The attacks violate all the values that South Africa embodies, especially the respect for human life, human rights, human dignity and ubuntu," he said. "Our country stands firmly against all intolerances such as racism, xenophobia, homophobia and sexism." He extended condolences to the families of those who had lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Zuma's statement was in light of a spate of xenophobic attacks that begin in townships around Durban last week and spread to Pietermaritzburg and Johannesburg. At least five people have been killed and scored injured. He appealed for calm and an end to violence.
