Rúben Filipe Marques Amorim (born 27 January 1985 in Lisbon) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for S.C. Braga on loan from S.L. Benfica as a midfielder.
His style is similar to countryman Tiago, with both playing the same position, operating in central midfield, both defensive and offensive (Amorim, however, is also able to play as a right defender).
Amorim made his debut in the Portuguese first division on 14 December 2003, playing one minute for hometown's C.F. Os Belenenses in a 2–0 home win over F.C. Alverca. From 2005–06 onwards, he became a cornerstone for the squad in which youth system he finished his formation.
In the 2007 summer, several clubs showed interested in Amorim's services, but he insisted on not leaving, with Belenenses also rejecting bids from S.L. Benfica, Sporting de Braga, F.C. Porto, FC Schalke 04, Tottenham Hotspur and Toulouse FC. He played in 29 matches (2,491 minutes) to help his club finish eighth in the top level.
In late April 2008, Amorim signed a four-year deal with Benfica, after his Belenenses link ran out. During his first season, he was an undisputed starter, scoring his first goal with the Reds on 23 November, in a 2–0 win at Académica de Coimbra.
David Luiz Moreira Marinho (born 22 April 1987), known as David Luiz, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Chelsea in the Premier League. Primarily a central defender, he can also be deployed as a left back.
After starting out at Vitória, he moved to Benfica at the age of 19, remaining with the club five seasons (three complete). He joined Chelsea in January 2011, winning the Champions League and the FA Cup in the following season.
Born in Diadema, São Paulo, David Luiz arrived in Esporte Clube Vitória at the age of 14 after being released by São Paulo FC, and started playing as a defensive midfielder, almost leaving the club for his poor performances in that position. However, he was soon moved to central defender and adapted well.
Luiz made his official debut for Vitória in 2006, and excelled against Santa Cruz Futebol Clube for that season's Brazilian Cup, in a 2–2 draw. At the worst situation of its history, in the third division, Vitória promoted to the second division at the end of the season with Luiz's help, after finishing in second position, with the central appearing in eight of the club's last decisive nine games, scoring his only Série C goal on 3 September 2006, in a 2–0 home win against Clube Atlético do Porto.
Óscar René Cardozo Marín (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈo̞skaɾ re̞ˈne̞ karˈð̞o̞so̞ maˈɾin], born 20 May 1983) is a Paraguayan footballer who plays for S.L. Benfica in Portugal, as a striker.
Known for his powerful left-foot shot and free-kick skills, he first gained notoriety whilst playing for Newell's Old Boys, which led to a move to Benfica, where he scored more than 100 official goals and won four major titles, namely the 2010 national championship, where he also was the top scorer.
Nicknamed "Tacuara" (Big cane in Guarani), Cardozo gained more than 50 caps for Paraguay, representing the nation at the 2010 World Cup.
Born in Juan Eulogio Estigarribia, Cardozo started his senior career with modest Club Atlético 3 de Febrero of Ciudad del Este, helping it to the second division championship. In 2004, he moved to the top level with Asunción's Club Nacional, where he quickly established himself as the team's top scorer, netting 17 overall goals in his last season.
Cardozo arrived at Argentina and Newell's Old Boys in the second half of the 2006–07 season for a transfer fee of $1.2 million, joining compatriots Diego Gavilán, Santiago Salcedo and Justo Villar. He scored 11 goals in only 16 games in the Apertura, but his team could only finish 18th in the tournament, and 13th overall; as a result of his performances, he was voted the 2006 Paraguayan Footballer of the Year.
