An excerpt from a conversation on the afternoon of November 23, 1968, between President Johnson and Florida Senator George Smathers, dealing with the transition to the Nixon administration and trying to secure peace talks as soon as possible. Conversation is notable because it makes clear that Johnson's priority with his bombing halt was not to bring about the election of Humphrey, but to secure peace talks. The election is over, and he is still trying to bring about the talks, and wishes the Nixon administration could take over sooner, so that no chances for peace are lost in the interim period. Also notable for the mention of the successful by the Nixon campaign to scotch the peace talks through their intermediary, Anna Chennault. This video is a supplement to a long essay on NIxon's sabotaging of the 1968 peace talks in order to become president: http://italkyoubored.wordpress.com/2014/04/08/the-treason-of-richard-nixon-from-possibility-to-certainty/ Audio file can be found at the following URL (this excerpt runs from 8:40-13:13): http://www.lbjlib.utexas.edu/johnson/archives.hom/Dictabelt.hom/highlights/janapril1968/smathersA7244-14/13763.mp3 Transcript is my own, and is on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/eqXjaEQs

Pace brothers and sisters get together in Sparta, NC, at the home of Nancy and Steve Childers.
The president meets with his Attorney General and gives him advice on which law firm he should join once he's finished official service. For instance, Florida Senator George Smathers: "You’d make twice as much money at Smathers, but you [would have] to deal with a lot of Jews." However: Nixon asks that Kleindienst stay on till the Watergate scandal dies down. They go over the names of who can be trusted and who can't, who will inform and who won't. "Magruder will probably turn on Mitchell rather than Haldeman, that’s my guess," Nixon correctly predicts. With regard to Watergate team leader E. Howard Hunt, "the fact that Colson has worked with Hunt on the ITT, which he did, uh, would lead certainly strong innuendo that Colson was in this," Nixon correctly guesses as well. The conversation moves to Nixon's obsession, the blackmail material that might halt the inquiry: Nixon's imagined belief that the FBI bugged his plane during the 1968 campaign. He then stumbles along more directly than ever before on the connection between himself and the secret negotiations that sabotaged those peace talks: the "South Vietnamese Ambassador was very emphatic that the Dragon Lady [Anna Chennault] was very close to, to President Nixon, or somebody or Agnew or somebody, uh, under the circumstances that he had to find what she was saying to them," which is what prompted Johnson to surveil various people, but not bug Nixon's plane. The conversation briefly touches on the legendary figure of Jimmy Hoffa and that he cannot be allowed back into union politics as a condition of his release, before the meeting ends with a mutual exchange of thanks and good luck. Audio quality is often poor, and the last three minutes, though transcripted, are missing from all current public recordings. Section of missing audio features transcript on a series of cards, without sound. Audio file is from the following: http://www.nixonlibrary.gov/forresearchers/find/tapes/tape862/862-006.mp3 Majority of transcript is by the Wategate Prosecution Task Force (WPTF), with some supplemental material from The Nixon Defense by John Dean. Original transcript by the WPTF: http://millercenter.org/images/presidentialrecordings/watergate/wspf_transcripts/WSFP_862-006.pdf The issue of the 1968 campaign surveillance overlaps with the issue of Nixon's successful attempt to sabotage the 1968 Paris Peace Talks, and that subject is discussed here: http://italkyoubored.wordpress.com/2014/04/08/the-treason-of-richard-nixon-from-possibility-to-certainty/ The reference to Father John Cronin is interesting, as it would seem to undercut Nixon's assertion that he had no help from the FBI, as Cronin was used by the Bureau as a valued source, as stated with substantial evidence in The Arrogance of Power by Anthony Summers. This excerpt on pastebin from Arrogance deals with Cronin: http://pastebin.com/SzpXq1dA Note that the point of contention is that Nixon knew of Cronin only after the testimony of Whittaker Chambers - yet here, he seems to imply that he received no help on the case from the FBI _except_ from Cronin.

NATO send in assassins or basket cases then killing patsy 'suspects' in Canada, Sydney, France & Denmark The First Question to Ask After Any Terror Attack: Was It a False Flag? http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/01/first-question-ask-terror-attack-false-flag.html Posted on January 7, 2015 by WashingtonsBlog Governments from Around the World Admit They Do It Governments from around the world admit they’ve used the bully’s trick … attack first, and then blame the victim: The CIA admits that it hired Iranians in the 1950′s to pose as Communists and stage bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its democratically-elected prime minister The Turkish Prime Minister admitted that the Turkish government carried out the 1955 bombing on a Turkish consulate in Greece – also damaging the nearby birthplace of the founder of modern Turkey – and blamed it on Greece, for the purpose of inciting and justifying anti-Greek violence The British Prime Minister admitted to his defense secretary that he and American president Dwight Eisenhower approved a plan in 1957 to carry out attacks in Syria and blame it on the Syrian government as a way to effect regime change The former Italian Prime Minister, an Italian judge, and the former head of Italian counterintelligence admit that NATO, with the help of the Pentagon and CIA, carried out terror bombings in Italy and other European countries in the 1950s and blamed the communists, in order to rally people’s support for their governments in Europe in their fight against communism. As one participant in this formerly-secret program stated: “You had to attack civilians, people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple. They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security” (and see this)(Italy and other European countries subject to the terror campaign had joined NATO before the bombings occurred). And watch this BBC special As admitted by the U.S. government, recently declassified documents show that in the 1960′s, the American Joint Chiefs of Staff signed off on a plan to blow up AMERICAN airplanes (using an elaborate plan involving the switching of airplanes), and also to commit terrorist acts on American soil, and then to blame it on the Cubans in order to justify an invasion of Cuba. See the following ABC news report; the official documents; and watch this interview with the former Washington Investigative Producer for ABC’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. 2 years before, American Senator George Smathers had suggested that the U.S. make “a false attack made on Guantanamo Bay which would give us the excuse of actually fomenting a fight which would then give us the excuse to go in and [overthrow Castro]“. And Official State Department documents show that – only nine months before the Joint Chiefs of Staff plan was proposed – the head of the Joint Chiefs and other high-level officials discussed blowing up a consulate in the Dominican Republic in order to justify an invasion of that country. The 3 plans were not carried out, but they were all discussed as serious proposals The NSA admits that it lied about what really happened in the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 … manipulating data to make it look like North Vietnamese boats fired on a U.S. ship so as to create a false justification for the Vietnam war A U.S. Congressional committee admitted that – as part of its “Cointelpro” campaign – the FBI had used many provocateurs in the 1950s through 1970s to carry out violent acts and falsely blame them on political activists A top Turkish general admitted that Turkish forces burned down a mosque on Cyprus in the 1970s and blamed it on their enemy. He explained: “In Special War, certain acts of sabotage are staged and blamed on the enemy to increase public resistance. We did this on Cyprus; we even burnt down a mosque.” In response to the surprised correspondent’s incredulous look the general said, “I am giving an example” The German government admitted (and see this) that, in 1978, the German secret service detonated a bomb in the outer wall of a prison and planted “escape tools” on a prisoner – a member of the Red Army Faction – which the secret service wished to frame the bombing on
In this film, Wayne Ferris talks to Senator George Smathers about his trip to Latin America. Most of the program deals with the communist threat to the Latin American region. The show is comprised primarily of footage shot during Smathers' trip to various locations in the Caribbean and South America. Scenes include: riots in Panama over control of the Canal Zone, and footage of Fidel Castro shaking his fist and meeting with Russian leader, Anastas Mikoyan. Later, there is footage of an interview by Miami reporter, Dick Lobo, with Generalissimo, Raphael Trujillo, of the Dominican Republic. The segment on Venezuela includes 1958 footage of Vice President Richard Nixon's motorcade being stoned by angry protesters. There are a few brief scenes of Smathers meeting with Venezuelan President Bettencourt. There are brief shots of Haiti and Puerto Rico, including Smathers' meeting with the Haitian President. Senator Smathers comments that student exchange programs may improve relations with Latin America. Mr. Ferris closes the program with recommendations, such as: price stabilization measures; mineral quotas; market subsidies; and improved foreign aid. Produced by WCKT of Miami. Seattle Post 2014-11-17George Armistead Smathers (November 14, 1913 – January 20, 2007) was an American lawyer and politician who represented the state of Florida in the United States Senate for eighteen years, from 1951 until 1969, as a member of the Democratic Party.
Smathers was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey (his uncle, William H. Smathers, was a U.S. senator representing New Jersey). His family moved to Miami, Florida in 1919, where he attended Miami High School. He then attended the University of Florida, where he earned his bachelor's degree and law degree. At Florida, he was president of his fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon (Florida Upsilon chapter), captain of the Gators basketball team, president of the student body, and a member of Florida Blue Key; he was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame. After completing his LL.B. in 1938, Smathers returned to Miami, where he served as Assistant United States Attorney from 1940 to 1942. During World War II, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9, 1913 – April 22, 1994) was the 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974. The only president to resign the office, Nixon had previously served as a US representative and senator from California and as the 36th Vice President of the United States from 1953 to 1961.
Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California. After completing his undergraduate work at Whittier College, he graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1937, and returned to California to practice law. He and his wife, Pat Nixon, moved to Washington to work for the federal government in 1942. He subsequently served in the United States Navy during World War II. Nixon was elected to the House of Representatives in 1946 and to the Senate in 1950. His pursuit of the Hiss Case established his reputation as a leading anti-communist, and elevated him to national prominence. He was the running mate of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Republican Party presidential nominee in the 1952 election. Nixon served for eight years as vice president. He waged an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 1960, narrowly losing to John F. Kennedy, and lost a race for Governor of California in 1962. In 1968, he ran again for the presidency and was elected.
James Riddle "Jimmy" Hoffa (born February 14, 1913 – disappeared July 30, 1975, declared legally dead July 30, 1982) was an American labor union leader.
Hoffa was involved with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union as an organizer from 1932 to 1975. He served as the union's General President from 1958 to 1971. He secured the first national agreement for teamsters' rates in 1964, and played a major role in the growth and development of the union, which eventually became the largest single union in the United States, with over 1.5 million members during his terms as its leader.
Hoffa, who had been convicted of jury tampering, attempted bribery, and fraud in 1964, was imprisoned in 1967, sentenced to 13 years, after exhausting the appeal process. It was not until mid-1971 that he officially resigned the Teamsters' presidency, an action that was part of a pardon agreement with U.S. president Richard Nixon, in order to facilitate his release later that year. Nixon blocked Hoffa from union activities until 1980 (which would have been the end of his prison term, had he served the full sentence). Hoffa attempted to overturn this order and to regain support.
