Senator Marco Rubio's R.N.C. Speech - Elections 2012
cpac 2015 Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said that Republicans would be unfairly blamed for a government shutdown over the immigration executive action at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. He was asked by Fox News host Sean Hannity why there was a fear of Republicans being blamed if Congress allows the government to shut down. "Because we are, they do," he said. "That's the hypocrisy of this, right? So when we're in the minority and we fillibuster ObamaCare — we want to repeal or at least get a vote on it — we're shutting down the government. When they're in the minority, and their fillibustering getting rid of this executive order, we're shutting down the government too. Any way you look at it, that's how they're going to portray it." His comments come as congressional Republicans look to avert a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security over President Obama’s executive action on immigration. House Republicans will vote Friday on a continuing resolution to fund the Department through mid-March. Rubio and his colleagues in the Senate are expected to follow suit, though they will also vote on a longer-term funding bill. Some conservatives having taken issue with the short term measure because it does not block the executive action. Rubio: 'Hypocrisy' that GOP would get shutdown blame At the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, Sen Marco Rubio (R-FL) answered a question about the possibility that he might run for President by saying, "I don't want to be in politics my whole life." Rubio initially said that if a politician believes he should pursue the nation's highest office, he should do it no matter what. But then he told his interviewer, Fox News host Sean Hannity, that he had plans beyond his career in Washington, D.C. “The truth is, Sean, I don’t wanna be in politics my whole life," he said. "I wanna serve my country and do other things.” Still, Rubio made it clear that while he's in the game, he wants to make a difference. “I don’t want my kids to grow up one day and ask me, how come you got to grow up in the greatest country in the world, but we get to live in a a country that's diminished?" Hannity threw a few names at Rubio in a game of word association. Hillary Clinton? “Yesterday.” Bill Clinton? “Whats the next one?” And Barack Obama? “Failed.” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the most focused on national security of the potential 2016 field, told an audience of conservative activists Friday that the administration’s “Obama-Clinton” foreign policy means “our allies no longer trust us and our enemies no longer fear us. This is the road our president has placed us on.’’ At 43, Rubio is the youngest of the potential presidential candidates appearing at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Asked what the words “Hillary Clinton” meant to him, he replied, “Yesterday.” Barack Obama? “Failed.”Rubio advocated a ground war against the Islamic State fought by a “coalition” of Mideast nations aided by U.S. special operation forces and U.S. air support. “If we wanted to defeat them militarily, we would do it,” Rubio said, but President Obama “doesn’t want to upset Iran.” Rubio drew criticism from his own party when he advocated immigration reform that would allow a pathway to citizenship for immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. He has since changed his position. “It wasn’t very popular, I don’t know if you know that from people here,” he joked before the CPAC audience. “What I’ve learned is that you can’t even have a conversation about that until people believe” that future illegal immigration will be controlled. He also said opposition to President Obama’s executive order allowing some illegal immigrants to stay in the country is “a constitutional issue.” The U.S. is “exceptional,” Rubio said and “the world knows. After all, when was the last time you heard about a boatload of American refugees arriving on the shores of another country?” Rubio said it was his fifth appearance at CPAC: “My first time was 2010 when I was 50 points down in the polls and the only people who thought I could win my Senate race all lived in my home.” But it was his first as a potential presidential candidate. “The bad news is that our country is on the road to decline. But here’s the good news: we are one election away from triggering another American century.” Rubio said he had not yet decided whether to run. He did check off a list of issues that appear to be top of mind for the CPAC audience: he opposes Common Core educational standards, abortion rights, same-sex marriage, and marijuana legalization. CPAC activists praised Rubio’s speech but did not seem ready to endorse him — and some wondered whether he will even get into the race. Contributing: David Jackson
Marco Rubio Delivers Blistering Speech on Obama's Assault on Israel (March 19, 2015)
Secretary of State John Kerry shut down Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) theory that the United States purposely lacks a comprehensive strategy to defeat ISIS because it fears antagonizing the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran. During a tense exchange with Kerry at a Senate Foreign Relations committee on Wednesday, Rubio confronted the former Massachusetts senator. “I believe that much of our strategy with regards to ISIS is being driven by a desire not to upset Iran so they don’t walk away from the negotiating table on the deal that you’re working on,” the potential GOP presidential candidate declared. “Tell me why I’m wrong.”
Marco Rubio so incisively criticized John Kerry's policy in dealing with ISIS during congressional testimony that he could only respond with a two word answer, "ISIS first." The petulant answer was an attempt to ignore Rubio's assertion that dealing with ISIS means we can't ignore Assad targeting "moderate rebels" in Syria, a clear and blatant shortcoming in Obama's plan. Either the Obama administration believes we're complete morons (since we elect him twice), or they're breath-takingly stupid themselves, because it's obvious that any training and weapons we give to Syrian rebels will be used against Assad, not against ISIS.

"The first battle of the GOP primary began on radio and cable news, spilled over to Twitter and splashed across Facebook and the wider Internet, a preview of the Republican Party’s coming cage match over foreign policy. First, on Thursday, Marco Rubio ripped into Rand Paul’s support for President Obama’s call to lift the five-decade embargo on Cuba. “Like many people who have been opining, he has no idea what he’s talking about,” the hawkish Florida senator told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly. Rubio was responding to this from his Senate colleague, and putative 2016 rival: “The 50-year embargo just hasn’t worked, if the goal was regime change, it sure doesn’t seem to be working,” the Kentucky senator said in a radio interview earlier in the day.“* Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, John Iadarola (TYT University) and Wes Clark Jr break it down. *Read more here: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/12/marco-rubio-rand-paul-cuba-113699.html Support TYT for FREE by doing your Amazon shopping through this link (bookmark it!) http://www.amazon.com/?tag=theyoungturks-20

Denver Post 2015-04-05Marco Antonio Rubio (born May 28, 1971) is the junior United States Senator from Florida, serving since January 2011. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives (2007–2009).
Born to Cuban immigrants, Rubio was raised in Miami, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended Tarkio College and Santa Fe Community College before graduating from the University of Florida. He earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1996 while interning for U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. In the late 1990s he served as a City Commissioner for West Miami. Rubio was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000, representing the 111th House district. He was elected Speaker in November 2006.
Rubio announced a run for U.S. Senate in May 2009 after incumbent Republican Mel Martinez resigned. Initially trailing by double-digits against the incumbent Republican Governor Charlie Crist, Rubio eventually surpassed him in polling for the Republican nomination. Rubio won the Republican nomination after Crist opted instead for an independent run. In a three-way split against Crist and Democratic candidate Kendrick Meek, Rubio won the general election in November 2010 by a 19-point margin.
John Forbes Kerry (born December 11, 1943) is the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts, the 10th most senior United States Senator and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He was the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2004 presidential election, but lost to then President George W. Bush.
The son of an Army Air Corps serviceman, Kerry was born in Aurora, Colorado. He attended boarding school in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and went on to graduate from Yale University class of 1966, where he majored in political science. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1966 and, during 1968-1969, served a four-month tour of duty in South Vietnam as officer-in-charge (OIC) of a Swift Boat. For that service he was awarded several combat medals that include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts. After returning to the United States, Kerry joined the Vietnam Veterans Against the War in which he served as a nationally recognized spokesperson and as an outspoken opponent of the Vietnam war. During that period, he appeared before the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs where he deemed United States war policy in Vietnam to be the cause of "war crimes".
Randal Howard "Rand" Paul (born January 7, 1963) is the junior United States Senator for Kentucky. He is a member of the Republican Party. A member of the Tea Party movement, he describes himself as a "constitutional conservative" and a libertarian. He is the son of Republican Congressman and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul of Texas and had never previously held political office. Paul first received national attention in 2008 when making political speeches on behalf of his father. Rand Paul is the first United States Senator in history to serve alongside a parent in the United States House of Representatives.
A graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine, Paul has been a practicing ophthalmologist in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since 1993, and established his own clinic in December 2007. In 1994, he founded Kentucky Taxpayers United, of which he is still the chairman.
In 2010, Paul ran as the Republican candidate for the United States Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky and defeated Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway. As a supporter of the Tea Party movement, Paul has been vocal in advocating for term limits, a balanced budget amendment, and the Read the Bills Act, in addition to the widespread reduction of federal spending and taxation. He has gained prominence for his independent positions on many political issues, often clashing with both Republicans and Democrats.
