Seemingly very modern, in fact you can still walk Leeds's medieval streets. In this short video, Geoff Druett walks around the city centre pointing out the Town Hall, Civic Hall, Briggate, arcades and the old Cloth Halls. It includes a visit inside the Corn Exchange and ends by the river Aire close-to the Royal Armouries. So, in six minutes you have a comprehensive guide and history to the city! This video was filmed with the intention of showing my parents and family where I spent most of my time at the University, this wasn't meant to be a historically accurate video. If I wanted them to know about specific things then I would have done my research. I had no idea this many people would view it, or that so many would be put off by me not knowing what everything was that I filmed.

I spend a lot of time travelling by rail, and often have to change trains at Leeds Railway Station, (often referred to as Leeds City Station). I always have something with me which I can record some video footage with, be it my iPhone, iPad, Flip Ultra or Canon Legria Camcorder, so in the minutes that I'm waiting, I quite often make a few seconds worth of film of either the surroundings or of the passing rail traffic. I have done this for the past three years now, and at the beginning of a new year have released my compilation from the previous year. Here is my compilation of footage from Leeds Railway Station in 2013. The clips have been put in the order that they were shot chronologically, starting in January and finishing in December. Some shots are by day, and others at night, but all of them capture the moments that I was there waiting. This film features some unusual visitors to Leeds Railway Station, including the Network Rail Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) DR98013 which is used for overhead line maintenance, as well as the Network Rail yellow 'banana' track testing High Speed Train (HST), and a Direct Rail Services (DRS) Class 37 coupled to an old 975 unit, which contains Network Rail employees. The film also features the East Coast Trains dedicated to the James Bond film 'Skyfall' and the Battle of Britain memorial train. Featured class locomotives and units are as follows: Class 37, Class 43, Class 82, Class 91, Class 142, Class 144, Class 150, Class 153, Class 158, Class 185, Class 220, Class 322, Class 333, Class 975 and MPV Class DR9. Featured train operating companies are as follows: East Coast Trains, Northern Rail, First Trans-Pennine Express, Cross Country, Direct Rail Services and Network Rail.

I arrived in the city of lights
Enchanted ballrooms where I lost my life
I've closed my eyes
On your fairground smile
Seedy heroes and silver tills
Sinking suns on a sea of thrills
I place my bets
Trading with strangers in silhouette
I drink your health, son of the earth
Passing ships in the modern death
We're all still fired
Old emotions still burn inside
On solid ground, round the mother tongue
A tower of hope, a joyful sound
You take your time
A hand of aces in a pack of lies
I found my song and I started to sing
Took me away on an olden wing
So far from home
Standing so lonely but not alone
In this empire of ache and rhyme
Lovers and best friends are running blind
I grasp your hand
Is this the only world I understand
There's a sadness
There's a joy
There's a place
There's a song that will never die

Too much, too soon you wait and see

You hang around her 'cause she's a good mate
(Too much)
Milkshakes and cherry cheesecake
(Too fast)
They want to stop you having kicks

California has been warmer,
while these hills are white with snow,
I am wondering where to go.
Passing headlights burn like spotlights,
and I am famous for the moment,
but they'll never know my name.
When will I know,
when will I know,
If my path it ain't so straight,
and if my luck it ain't so great.
When will I know,
when will I know,
If this season's gonna change,
or if I'm frozen in my place.
City of lights, city of dreams,
City of the famous so and so's...
on a low lit silver screen.
Whatever I was, before I came,
I am older, I am wiser now,
but a lot just hasn't changed.
And when will I know,
How can I tell,
will I see it in your eyes,
if there's things that I can't hide.
How far will I go,
how far will I go,
Spending weekends on the road,
while you're waiting there at home.
Just to sing out our songs,
to an audience of you,
Is better than crowds to shout my name,
it's better than all my fame.
Still when will I know,
how can I tell,
If I've run a losing race,
if there's facts that I must face,
And when will I know,
when will I know,
If I'm chasing honest dreams,
Sometimes we wander,
we struggle and we get fucked up by love...
Of all feelings a man can feel,
is the one that makes us come alive,
but also at times it might break us into pieces,
BREAK US INTO PIECES!
We wanted to find something to fight for,
in the city of lights.
Together we found a meaning to die for,
our own paradise...
Right there destiny hit me, in the city of lights.
It was that place we found together, by mistake...
As this key closes our lock, as this key drops to the
water.
It seals our love, it seals our bond, we will never be
torn apart!
TORN APART!
Have you ever felt so alive...??! [4x]
Sometimes we wander,
we struggle and we get fucked up by love...
Together we make our stand and we have no fear.
We don't give a fuck about the world,
we have found our own paradise,
OUR OWN PARADISE!
We wanted to find something to fight for,
in the city of lights.
Together we found a meaning to die for,
our own paradise...
Right there destiny hit me, in the city of lights.
