The 21st century is the current century of the Anno Domini era or the Common Era in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. The century began on January 1, 2001 and will end on December 31, 2100. The years starting from 2001 to 2011 are now historical; the years ranging from 2012 to 2100 are subject to futurology and predictions. As of now, &1000000000000001100000011 years and &10000000000000177000000177 days of the 21st century have passed.
In contemporary history, the 21st century began with the United States as the sole superpower in the absence of the Soviet Union. As the Cold War was over and terrorism on the rise, exemplified by the September 11, 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, the United States and its allies turned their attention to the Middle East and North Africa.
Digital technology, in its early stages of mainstream use in the 1980s and 1990s, became widely accepted by most of the world, though concerns about stress from the overuse of mobile phones, the Internet and related technologies remains controversial.
Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. (November 4, 1916 – July 17, 2009) was an American broadcast journalist, best known as anchorman for the CBS Evening News for 19 years (1962–81). During the heyday of CBS News in the 1960s and 1970s, he was often cited as "the most trusted man in America" after being so named in an opinion poll. Although he reported many events from 1937 to 1981, including bombing in World War II, the Nuremberg trials, combat in the Vietnam War,Watergate, the Iran Hostage Crisis, and the murders of President John F. Kennedy, civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King, Jr., and The Beatles musician John Lennon, he was known for extensive TV coverage of the U.S. space program, from Project Mercury to the Moon landings to the Space Shuttle. He was the only non-NASA recipient of a Moon-rock award. Cronkite is well known for his departing catchphrase "And that's the way it is," followed by the date on which the appearance is aired.
Cronkite was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the son of Helen Lena (née Fritsche, August 1892 - November 1993), and Dr. Walter Leland Cronkite (September 1893 - May 1973), a dentist. He had remote Dutch ancestry on his father's side, the family surname originally being Krankheyt.
Avram Noam Chomsky (/ˈnoʊm ˈtʃɒmski/; born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, and activist. He is an Institute Professor and Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at MIT, where he has worked for over 50 years. Chomsky has been described as the "father of modern linguistics" and a major figure of analytic philosophy. His work has influenced fields such as computer science, mathematics, and psychology.
Ideologically identifying with anarcho-syndicalism and libertarian socialism, Chomsky is known for his critiques of U.S. foreign policy and contemporary capitalism, and he has been described as a prominent cultural figure. His media criticism has included Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media (1988), co-written with Edward S. Herman, an analysis articulating the propaganda model theory for examining the media.
According to the Arts and Humanities Citation Index in 1992, Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar from 1980 to 1992, and was the eighth most cited source overall. Chomsky is the author of over 100 books. He is credited as the creator or co-creator of the Chomsky hierarchy, the universal grammar theory, and the Chomsky–Schützenberger theorem.
Michio Kaku (加来 道雄, Kaku Michio?, born January 24, 1947) is an American theoretical physicist, the Henry Semat Professor of Theoretical Physics in the City College of New York of City University of New York, a co-founder of string field theory, a futurist, and a "communicator" and "popularizer" of science. He has written several books about physics and related topics; he has made frequent appearances on radio, television, and film; and he writes extensive online blogs and articles. He has written two New York Times best sellers, Physics of the Impossible (2008) and Physics of the Future (2011). He has hosted several TV specials for BBC-TV, the Discovery Channel, and the Science Channel.
Kaku was born in San Jose, California to Japanese immigrant parents. His grandfather came to the United States to take part in the clean-up operation after the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake[citation needed]. His father was born in California but was educated in Japan and spoke little English. Both his parents were put in the Tule Lake War Relocation Center, where they met and where his two brothers were born.
Lincoln Barrett, better known by the stage name High Contrast (born 18 September 1979, Penarth, Cardiff), is a Welsh drum and bass DJ and producer.
Barrett grew up more interested in films and film soundtracks rather than music, and still cites Wendy Carlos's A Clockwork Orange soundtrack album and the Vangelis soundtrack for Blade Runner as defining musical influences. Whilst studying film making in Newport, he heard J Majik's Arabian Nights which turned the then 17-year-old Barrett on to drum and bass music. Barrett used to work in Cardiff's only electronic record shop, Catapult. A short time after he began to make music, he was given a DJ residency at Cardiff's drum and bass night, named Silent Running. During his residency at Silent Running, Barrett played alongside artists such as Grooverider and London Elektricity.
In June 2002, Barrett's debut album, True Colours, was released on Hospital Records, with "Return of Forever" and "Global Love" finding their way into the UK Singles Chart. His second album was High Society.
All the creatures on the beaches
Making waves in a motion picture
Won't you keep this in between us
Search and seizure wake up venus
The dollar bill will mentally ill bill
Mom and dad take your don't be sad pill
Turn the screw and twist my language
Don't forsake me I'm contaigious
There's a reason
For the 21st century
Not too sure
But I know that it's meant to be
And that it's meant to be
It's my favourite combination
Coming down with the favoured nations
Deep rotation
Mutilation
Learn to give and take dictation
Oh, oh oh, oh oh, like the cain and able
Oh, oh oh, oh oh it's time to run this table
There's a reason
For the 21st century
Not too sure
But I know that it's meant to be
And that it's meant to be
Read me your scripture and
Read me your scripture
Read me your scripture and I will twist it
Show me your wrist and I
Show me your wrist and
Show me your wrist and I'll kiss it kiss it
Oh, oh oh, oh oh, Like the cain and able
Oh, oh oh, oh oh, it's time to run this table
Simple soldier
Hand it over
Stop and read what you just wrote her
Strangulation
Altercation
all the sex and bird migration
There's a reason
For the 21st century
Not too sure
But I know that it's meant to be
And that it's meant to be
There's a reason
For the 21st century
Not too sure
But I know that it's meant to be
i can't believe it, the way you look sometimes, like a trampled flag
on a city street, oh yeah, and i don't want it, the things you're
offering me, symbolized bar code, quick i.d., oh yeah, i'm a 21st
century digital boy, i don't know how to live (or read) but i've got a
lot of toys, my daddy is a lazy middle class intellectual, my mommy's
on valium, she's so ineffectual, ain't life a mystery i can't explain
it, the things they're saying to me, it's going yayayayayayaya, oh
yeah, i tried to tell you about no control, but now i really don't
know, and then you told me how bad you had to suffer, is that really
all you have to offer
Oh, I know that I'm guilty
Do I ever cross your mind?
Oh, I feel that you need me
I said, I have no time
I'm losin' more than I ever had
After all the love is gone
And the more I look it drives me mad
Where does my heart belong?
Oh, it's a 21st love century
It's love time for you and me
Baby, I love you for sure
Baby, I hold you once more
Baby, I'm dying for sweet love
Oh, it's a 21st love century
Don't you feel the energy?
Baby, I miss you for sure
Baby, I kiss you once more
Baby, I'm dying for sweet love, love
Will you love me tomorrow?
Oh, this love will miss a flame
In the world full of sorrow
Love's such a thing
Oh, the way I go, oh, the less you know
I feel passion, I feel pain
There's a broken heart and it tears apart
Leave me in the rain
Oh, it's a 21st love century
It's love time for you and me
Baby, I love you for sure
Baby, I hold you once more
Baby, I'm dying for sweet love
Oh, it's a 21st love century
Don't you feel the energy?
Baby, I miss you for sure
Baby, I kiss you once more
Baby, I'm dying for sweet love, love
Oh, it's a 21st love century
It's love time for you and me
Baby, I love you for sure
Baby, I hold you once more
Baby, I'm dying for sweet love
[Intro: Solomon Childs]
Yeah, word...
Godfather shit... you know?
Take your mind off it (yeah, what?)
[Solomon Childs]
My projects, this the funeral homes and Laundromats
Hall of fame, for niggas who hit off gats
Late comer, ain't turned ghetto since fourteen
In the hood it's only money that the drop bring
Solomon King, and when the toast ring
You know I know, you yellow back niggas'll run
Talkin' shit, is like walkin' wet on the third rail
My fault for hurtin' ya'll sales
About to party like I'm Bobby Rail
Cop grams off a Dominican in the well
Fifth borough, marquise, livin' New York soap operas
I see more drug dealers than doctors
Neglect, hold a ratchet, but to Allah I'm still innocent
I keep correspondin', wit thugs who needs witnesses
Uncle Wise, 21st century
[Chorus x2: Solomon Childs]
Ghetto celebrities, penitentiary bars
Jealousy, guns, jigga spot number runs
Criminals and deceased stars
Look around you, son, who wouldn't get high
[Remedy]
We make music, til the wee hours of morn'
These grays in my beard grow as time goes on
Nothin' like the feeling, when you're hearin' our song
The best things in life just don't last long
Can't believe it, even little Barbara's gone
Wifey cries everyday, but tries to be strong
We all do things we no is dead wrong
Can't get it where you fit in, if you don't belong
Wait for no man, make moves for delf
You can't understand, I write songs for self
Seen misery and company, along with wealth
The real jewel is happiness and good health
Know cats that had money and now they're dead broke
Straight up clean kids, who now smoke coke
Smokin' up cigarettes and died of a stroke
What used to be respected, now is a joke
[Chorus]
[Remedy]
21st century, my suggestion to you is to Remedy
If you don't know your enemy, then you're already dead
Rest in peace, God bless, the realest shit said (life)
[Solomon Childs]
Last intermission, Body Brighton thrill-ogy
Stressed out momma, Stephanie Mills
Project black house, sell crack to pay bills
New York crime scene, narcotic crime kings
Chicks with the Chinese doobies, gold diggers wit the tight cooties
Searchin' up the candy wit the big booties
Draw part headed, hard headed growin' up
And hard head will make a soft ass
Rock pool old sneakers to class
Introductions, the building of a plateau
Playin' dominoes wit the beer hoes
I thought Pink and B.D., be here forever
I thought Sandy Brock would play basketball forever
I thought Storm Fields would always give the weather
Momma said "never say never"
[Chorus x2]
[Outro: Solomon Childs]
Life, and that's the way it is
Solemnly swear, to always tell the truth
Tell you what I see...
That's what I'm here fore, autobiography
Life... Solomon marked for life, Solomon, Solomon
Solomon marked for life, Solomon, Solomon

Used to be more art-school
Now I'm speaking with an accent
Picking from a new pool
Are we in the past or present?

Throw the towels in and watch the

Such a rebel in a three-piece suit
Two inches higher in his Beatle boots
Travelling parties like a loaded gun
Cocked & shooting off all night long
Trying to __ lately, oh Lord don't hate me
Can't tell a lie to the woman that made me, oh no
Oh no, it's you
And a lie's not a lie if they know it ain't true
And you know it ain't true if it's coming from you, oh
Oh no, it's you
We are coming together, we are falling apart
Reaching the end, only the end of the start
Taking the pictures to remember the times
Remember the times when we were young in our life
He's a Magnum for the jukebox scene
Drinks and powder and the 'Village Green'
Passing the cable and we choose the tune
Old to your parents but fresh to you
Out on the pavement, making a statement
Got everything but a method of payment, oh no
Oh no, that's me
And the whole world's glowing at the change you made
But nothing feels different than yesterday, oh no
Oh no, that's me
We are coming together, we are falling apart
Reaching the end, only the end of the start
Taking the pictures to remember the times
Remember the times when we were young in our life
I've got memories of things I've never done
Some from when I'm older, some from when I'm young
I've got best friends that I never get to see
I hope I find the time, I hope they find the time for
We are coming together, we are falling apart
Reaching the end, only the end of the start
Looking at pictures to remember the times
Remember the times when we were young in our lives
Nothing works out just like the plans we made
Nobody gives, and if you want it you take
Everything's changing and that's fine with me
21st century, 21st century
No blind
No blind
I know something else to crush you into pieces
It’s coming right now
Here for nothing else except the ashes
Feed itself on infamy
No, there’s nothing strong enough between you and me
No, nothing’s strong enough to forestall me
Blind, they want to kill you
Blind, too proud to save you
I can feel it coming
We’re letting this growing inside
‘Cause we’re blind
I can feel it knocking
We’re letting this fucking inside
‘Cause we’re blind
We’re blind
This revelation, you think
Is making you stronger
Determination, you think
Is enough to fuck me deeper
No, there’s nothing strong enough between you and me
No, nothing’s strong enough to forestall me
Blind, they want to kill you
Blind, too proud to save you
I can feel it coming
We’re letting this growing inside
‘Cause we’re blind
I can feel it knocking
We’re letting this fucking inside
‘Cause we’re blind
We’re blind
What is the difference between me
And the twenty first century?
I can feel it coming
We’re letting this growing inside
‘Cause we’re blind
I can feel it knocking
We’re letting this fucking inside
‘Cause we’re blind
We’re blind
I know something else to crush you into pieces
It’s coming right now
Here for nothing else except the ashes
21ST CENTURY
I fell out kicking screaming
Three quarters through the twentieth century
Into warm hands that cured me so well
Curiosity helped with learning
And teachers tried to educate me
All is well I'm lucky don't you know
Then I nine to fived in a factory
To pay your way you have to earn it
I started getting doubts around that time
But progress keeps on thriving
And hopes are high for the twenty first century
We're closer now and lucky don't you know
Then I look around me
And wonder where I fit in
With all this sick delusion
I think I thought something then
Should I just let it go or use it
I don't ask much
I just want back what's mine
Help me find a place inside
I won't ask much
Just let me use what's mine
Feed me and I'll open wide
Possessions make for happy
And it's extra sweet if the taste's aesthetic
You can let them know with just a simple sign
Gone are days of fixing
And anyway you want the next thing
Don't know why but you need it all the same
Then I watch the TV
And I see where it begins
Our heads spun bland confusion
I think I thought something then
Should I just let it go or use it
Hey, it's worse than I thought
These fuckers don't rest
Nothing is sacred anymore
It seeps when you wake
It eats while you sleep
Perhaps it's time I started
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
I used to think my life was only up to me
But livin' life this way can be so lonely
Everyday with what it takes to stay alive
What we need is each other to survive
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
So reach out and take the hand
Head up above the sun
Reach out
Stop givin' love the third degree
It's time we found love for the 21st century
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Da doo da doo da doo doo doo
Oh oh oh oh oh oh

We used to sit around at night watching old time movie shows
Philosophize and analyze what we didn't know
No, no
You didn't know
(We didn't know)
We didn't know
(We didn't know)
What did you think?
(What did you think?)
We didn't think at all
We had the world in the palm of our hand
Then we turned around and dropped it
They tore it apart, then we up and ran
Cuz we knew we couldn't stop it, oh no
Where will we all be (Where will we be)
In the twenty-first century?
And now I sit at home alone watching new wave videos
Philosophize then realize that I'll never know
No, no
We'll never know
(We'll never know)
I'll never know
(I'll never know)
What do you think?
(What do you think?)
I still don't think at all
We had the world in the palm of our hand
Then we turned around and dropped it
They tore it apart then we up and ran
Cuz we knew we couldn't stop it, oh no
Where will we all be (Where will we be)
In the twenty-first century
In the twenty-first century
In the twenty-first century
In the twenty-first century
In the twenty-first century
